Wishful thinking!
The Three Stages of the Transfer Window Insanity!
Whilst most clubs are fawning over the internet in search of stories relating to brand spanking new signings us Liverpool fans will just have to make do with what we have, which is a very capable squad that is not nearly large or deep enough to withstand injury or loss of form from our big names.
So imagine today was Xmas day and we didn’t have Laurel & Hardy as our owners, and we could actually spend a pound or two today, who would you liked pursued by the club?
Sure we could do with a back up striker with experience and maybe a new left back to boot, but try to keep within reason. The idea is not to opt for crazy money here, but more a chance for you to rack your brains to find a player who would suit us down to the ground.
The players we have brought in have already made an impact. Glen Johnson has been superb and I read a piece earlier in the week calling him the new Cafu and I felt that was pretty accurate if slightly overblown a comparison. The right back loves bombing forward and has added another dimension to the team that is most welcome.
Of course we are still to see Alberto Aquilani. Some will, and indeed already have, question the wisdom of signing a player with a long term injury but the proof will be in the pudding as they say. If he comes in and does a grand job everyone will applaud Rafa if the comes in and does himself in with another injury within quick succession people will be baying for his blood, such is the fickle nature of the game, but that’s why we love it so!
Sotiris Kyrgiakos will prove to be a wise and financially prudent capture if not the most earth shattering of additions still a very useful one.
So let’s be having you, as Delia Smith once said, who would you have liked to have seen added on this transfer deadline day.
