“Brilliant, that Valencia news someone texted in – well David Silva has just pulled up in a car at Old Trafford, him and his agent seen getting out of the car! Just seen it, brilliant news!” (BBC Sport)

Yes, it’s another case of someone confusing a footballer with…well someone who isn’t a footballer. Or perhaps not? Mistaken identity more than likely or maybe someone pulling someone else’s figurative leg.

Clearly Sir Alex has oodles of cash but apparently no desire to spend it all at once. After that defeat at Burnley Man United have bounced back superbly to first annihilate Wigan and then battle from a goal down to beat Arsenal, so is there any real need to splash the cash?

David Silva is of course a class act and we were consistently told how much debt his Valencia side were saddled with and how it was only a matter of time before he and David Villa left, but here we are hours from the transfer deadline and nothing?

As a United fan I feel confident our squad has what it takes to battle on all fronts so no real need to bid big for anyone.
