It was a record-breaking summer, with Cristiano Ronaldo becoming the most expensive footballer of all time.
Manchester City invested heavily on proven Premier League talent, like Emmanuel Adebayor and Carlos Tevez, while Barcelona added Zlatan Ibrahimovic, among others.
