A player who could prove to be Harry’s best signing for the club.

Football - Tottenham Hotspur Training

Wilson Palacios is a class act and one who could be just the player to give Tottenham‘s other midfielders time and space on the ball. The Honduran arrived from Wigan and whilst he was clearly a much sought after player the initial reaction to the £12m outlay was mixed, some feeling that it was a tad inflated given he has arrived at the Latics for a fraction of that fee just over a year earlier.

A combative battler the 25 year old also has a fair amount of ability on the ball and anyone who feels he is little more than a battleaxe are way wide of the mark. What Wilson offers is the bite of a Javier Mascherano type player but with the added ability to keep the ball moving in a positive manner rather than simply being a wall with which to block the opposing midfield.

He offers far more to the side than a player like Jermaine Jenas who far too often can flit in and out of games and is in many ways he has breathed new life into Tom Huddlestone who works well in tandem with Palacios and finds himself more able to play his own brand of football.

Since Redknapp’s arrival at White Hart Lane he has sought to re-shape things at the club and in many ways has copied lessons learned at other clubs and bought players he felt could serve key roles in the side and coupled them with the undoubted talent still at the club and brought together a side that could realistically mount a sustained attack on the top four monopoly and Wilson Palacios is the fulcrum for the side that really does appear to be moving onwards and upwards.
