Giant Emmanuel Adebayor poster in the Arndale ahead of City v Arsenal

Emmanuel Adebayor has apologised for baiting Arsenal fans after scoring in Manchester City’s 4-2 win at Eastlands.

The former Gunners striker, who joined City in the summer, ran the length of the pitch to celebrate in front of visiting fans, who reacted furiously.
But after Saturday’s game, the Togo international said: “The emotion took over me. Now I just have to say sorry.”

He also clashed with Robin Van Persie during the game, his right boot catching the Dutchman in the face.
Adebayor, who was booked for his inflammatory celebration after making it 3-1 to the home side with 10 minutes to go, escaped punishment following the incident, which left Van Persie with a cut to the left side of his face.

But the Football Association may decide to act once it has reviewed television footage.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said he wanted to see a replay before deciding whether there was any intent on Adebayor’s behalf.
“I didn’t really see what happened,” said the Frenchman.
“I have to see it again to see if it was on purpose or not. I can’t say anything at the moment.” (BBC Sport)

First off hats off to Man City for winning today. I really mean it. I have nothing against their club at all, I actually have always had a soft spot for them. I think as a team they attacked with aplomb and were very incisive and in Shay Given they have the best keeper in the Premier League. Also the utmost respect to Kolo Toure who is and will always remain a favourite for any right minded Arsenal fan.

However Emmanuel Adebayor managed, somehow, to make himself an even more hated figure amongst the Gunners faithful, myself included, by celebrating his goal in a manner that just astounded me and my fellow supporters in the away end. I guess we shouldn’t be surprised by just how far this guy can sink but hats off to him, he managed to do just that, and his insipid wholly fake apology now just makes him look even more sad and pathetic.

I mean it’s like he has completely forgotten about the club that made him who he is today, and make no mistake, without Wenger there to at first purchase him and guide him to the talented player that he is, and I won’t lie to you he is a good player on his day, he wouldn’t be in the Premier League today, I am sure of that.

He just comes across as such a disgusting person. He carries himself with such an air of arrogance, the like of which is so elevated as to be even more absurd than your usual average egotistical footballer, I mean this guy takes it to a whole other level. I am sure he has few friends at the Emirates and I think our club is all the better for not having him.

Man City fans take heed, he will almost certainly make his move when it suits him and will do so in an underhand manner that will shock and appall in equal measured, you have been warned.
