Its going to be hard to fill his gloves.

Football - Arsenal v Manchester United UEFA Champions League Semi Final Second Leg

There have been many keepers linked with a potential move to Old Trafford but as far as I can see there is not a better candidate for the job than this man.

Artur Boruc is a class act. Take away the slight insanity he appears to possess, or leave it as it is, and you have a goalkeeper who is one of the best on the planet today and perhaps more importantly a keeper who would surely jump at the chance to make a move to the upper echelons of the footballing pyramid.

The 29 year old Polish international has been at Parkhead for four years now and has become something of a cult hero with a penchant for acting like a bit of a loose cannon. The former Legia Warsaw man has been a phenomenal servant to the Glasgow club and if he decided it was time to call his Bhoys career to an end I am sure whilst they would be saddened to see him leave they would understand the motivation for such a move.

As a goalie he has it all. He has the agility to pull off smart instinctive stops and also commands his area with real authority, whats more he is also a leader of men on the park and can really be a big motivator to his back four, something that is key and an attribute that both Edwin van der Sar and Peter Schmeichel had in common.

Even though the Celtic man has been plying his trade in the relatively average Scottish Premier League he has also been a fixture in their European campaigns and performed incredibly well during these big match games, most notably against Man United back in 2006 where he saved a last minute Louis Saha penalty.

I am sure Artur Boruc is a player that Sir Alex has been considering as a potential replacement and even given his ties with Celtic’s sworn enemies Rangers, he can surely see that there are few better candidates to take the club’s coveted number one jersey.
