Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is unconcerned by Carlos Tevez’s possible absence ahead of the Manchester derby this weekend.
City travel to Old Trafford to take on the champions with doubts over their former United striker Tevez, who is struggling to overcome a knee injury to face his old club.
The blow would be a major miss for City but Ferguson insists it should not concern his rivals as much as the suspension of top scorer Emmanuel Adebayor.
Adebayor received a three-match ban for violent conduct during City’s 4-2 win over Arsenal last week and will miss the mouth-watering derby as a result. The Togo international has scored in each of City’s four league games this season and when asked if he expects Tevez to feature in the match he gave a carefree response.
“It doesn’t bother me one bit – I think their best player is not playing,” Ferguson said on Sky Sports News.
“Adebayor has been their star player, there is no question about that. He has scored in every game. That’s their loss really.” (Sky Sports)
There is simply no one better at putting someone in their place and to be honest Carlos has been asking for a taste of one of Sir Alex’s perfectly planned attacks for a while now and he has got what he fully deserves.
His words are a joy to behold. He manages to at once put the Argentine in his place by making it clear that Mr. Tevez is not the big fish he may think he is and that it is Man City’s other judas, Emmanuel Adebayor, who the Eastlands outfit will miss most. He is of course spot on.
