Liverpool Close In On Impressive £12m Serie A Midfielder Hamsik

Portsmouth Vs Liverpool Tickets Still Available!

Sir Alex Ferguson and Rafa Benítez like them so much that they are ready to strip to the waist and go mano-a-mano over Napoli’s Marek Hamsik in January. Manchester United seem to have stolen a march on their rivals – a scout from Old Trafford, complete with woggle and his Talent Spotter badge, was spotted at the San Paolo Stadium on Saturday according to Naples local rag Il Mattino. (Guardian)
22 year old Marek Hamsik has been linked with a move to us before but it appears that the Slovakian is attracting renewed interest from both ourselves and Man United. Obviously the issue of money, and the lack thereof, is going to be an issue but who knows perhaps the Liverpool owners will feel like giving Rafa some spending cash in January if we are handily placed in the Premier League and Champions League by that time.
Whenever I have seen the attacking midfielder in action for Napoli, and I’ve seen him in a few Serie A matches on the box, he has looked intelligent and direct and could be a very good signing. He is valued in the £10-12m bracket and we have apparently had him scouted quite a bit in the past 18 months. He could give us some extra creativity in the midfield and give us more strength in depth and he is a player that whilst a little pricey wouldn’t break the bank, so maybe Messrs Hicks and Gillett wouldn’t mind funding such a move over splashing big cash on a ‘marquee’ player like David Silva. Fingers crossed!

You may be right. I don’t see the Two Scrooges paying up for 30m Silva but maybe a decent player for half the price, like this guy, would make sense
Mr.Rant - September 22nd, 2009 at 4:09 pm
Hamsik will be one of the biggest midfielders in the world in a few years. Whoever snaps him up will have secured a magical piece of business. Can only hope it’s not Rafa who secures the signature.
anonymous - September 22nd, 2009 at 4:12 pm
ahhahahahahh AS IF MAREK WOULD GO PLAY FOR DIRTY SCOUSERS IN THE CHAV LEAGUE BAHAHAHHAAHAH
footybanter.co.uk - September 22nd, 2009 at 4:12 pm
Hamsik is a really decent player who’d benefit any Premier League midfield imo. Hope Liverpool get him just so I could see him play more regularly!
anonymous - September 22nd, 2009 at 4:16 pm
how on earth is this “closing in” ?? i mean talk about OTT headline. Awful CO really really awful
anonymous - September 22nd, 2009 at 4:18 pm
shut the fuck up you dirty chav fucks..you fags dont know shit about italian football….Napoli’s owner is psycotic he will NEVER EVER sell Hamsik….Lavezzi yes, Hamsik no chance…hes the 2nd best midfielder in the world right now, only Gerrard is better
anonymous - September 22nd, 2009 at 4:23 pm
If he doesn’t come, Skrtel will break him.
Mr.Rant - September 22nd, 2009 at 4:23 pm
Skrtel is nails.

Rock of Anfield - September 22nd, 2009 at 4:56 pm
Finally, a great player that rafa has finally decieded to stop chasing silva and go after a cheaper, but still quality player who is only young and is already set for greatness.
Retryboy - September 22nd, 2009 at 4:58 pm
Think rafa needs to decide what formation he is playing and what position every player is best in b4 we know who we need seems he has ditched the rotation policy and decided to just rotate positions instead
anonymous - September 22nd, 2009 at 5:08 pm
Always wondered why he still played for Napoli. But do we really need? I’d rather by Lavezzi who is a left footed striker (which we really need). Also need a right winger and left winger. THEN we can get Hamsik.
saif - September 22nd, 2009 at 5:42 pm
i think we should get him and mata and on another website i herd that liverpool are targeting ronaldiniho thatv would be a killer signing
anonymous - September 22nd, 2009 at 5:43 pm
i think we should get both hamsik and lavezzi and give napoli either lucas, dossena and 10mil or babel(if he has not improved and has failed to show when played in prefered position) and lucas with 5mil
anonymous - September 22nd, 2009 at 5:57 pm
Stand up…if you hate man u
anonymous - September 22nd, 2009 at 6:12 pm
for the left wing problem jonas guthierez would be a cheaper option
anonymous - September 22nd, 2009 at 6:17 pm
u wont get him for under 18mill
RaNE - September 22nd, 2009 at 6:20 pm
defenitly better than the italian league i feel he needs to prove himself in the prem then he can become a great player
but with liverpools midfield lack of depth i feel hell get more playing time
anonymous - September 22nd, 2009 at 6:20 pm
He is one ugly fuck, would be better suited at man Poo with Fletcher, Rooney, Park etc.
Eden Hazard is better anyway
anonymous - September 22nd, 2009 at 6:23 pm

Jed - September 22nd, 2009 at 6:30 pm
let it go YNWA….there is over 3 months till the next transfer window…liverpool…or any other team for that matter aint closin in on shit!!
anonymous - September 22nd, 2009 at 6:41 pm
where on earth are u gonna play him. we already have gerrard, masch, lucas, aquilani and spearing is ready to make the step up. where will hamsik fit in
RaNE - September 22nd, 2009 at 6:44 pm
isnt it a year for chelsea the next transfer window?
baggins09 - September 22nd, 2009 at 6:47 pm
don’t know why you feel the need to chip in on our transfer speculation, oh yeah i do its because your not gonna have any for two windows are you you fucking prick, fuck off back to a chelsea thread dickhead we’re sick of your shit on here
anonymous - September 22nd, 2009 at 6:51 pm
Jed, you are still here, you m*ther f*cker, the chinese doctors can stretch your dick to 2.5 maybe 3 inches. They have a discount for chelsea fans. You will feel better about yourself, I would think.
Scouse Magic - September 22nd, 2009 at 6:51 pm
Hamsik will only come IF Masch wants to leave or is sold. This would mean Aquilani and Lucas will be the holding players (Aquilani more in the Alonso role) Spearing to cover Lucas, Gerrard to cover for Aquilani.
And i don’t know how many more times i’ve got to say it, get Adam Johnson from Boro, he’s contract is up this season, he’d cost approx £2m to buy in Jan or on a tribunal at the end of the season. He’s got everything, can cross, pass, shoot and tracks back and he’s only 22. He was class for the U21’s in the latest tournament.
anonymous - September 22nd, 2009 at 7:08 pm
he says he wants to play for man utd strange in the italian media dosent even mention liverpool
baggins09 - September 22nd, 2009 at 7:16 pm
can we please forget hamsik we don’t need him gerrard, aquilani and lucas are all attacking mids so not only are we gonna have lucas playing out of position at dm we’re now gonna make aquilani hold as well!
why pay for one of the most promising attacking mids in italian football then ask him to play a holding role? he’s actually got pace and skill and an eye for goal three things alonso didn’t have so we’re gonna ask him to sit back and defend! its rafalogic it makes no sense!
the only mids we need to look at are defensive and a versitile winger/striker like lavezzi (not david silva)
Jed - September 22nd, 2009 at 8:46 pm

No you are wrong Jed, personally I would much rather have Shevchenko, he is a much better player and defo worth the money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We wasted so much money on Ngog its embarrassing, I cant believe that we wasted all that money just because our leader wanted a pet puppy at the club.
Oh yeah,
Gone Leeds Gone…………………………………………….

Retryboy - September 22nd, 2009 at 11:40 pm
Obv you can’t read jed cos the original article that the story from Ynwa was based on was from the guardian they linked the player to liverpool and man utd obviously if these 2 massively successful clubs want him he’s gotta be good chelsea tend to go more for the ross turnbull’s and danny sturridge’s of the world these days so next week look out cos lee bowyer may be available oops sorry can’t make transfers keep forgetting lol i’m helping ac out with stringing sentences 2getha he is getting really good now maybe we can tackle your reading as well or have you taken too many shots in the eye?
Warren Bloggs - September 23rd, 2009 at 12:09 am
Fantastic Retryboy, absolute class! I would suggest that Marek Hamsik would be a fantastic signing, although I would argue that his Napoli colleague Lavezzi would be more neccesary? May I ask YNWA how do you conclude we are ‘closing in on’ Hamsik when we don’t have two Polo’s to string together?
anonymous - September 23rd, 2009 at 12:57 am
We don’t need Hamsik, the mans do because their midfield is shite.
Lavezzi all day long. Liverpool’s next number 7.

anonymous - September 23rd, 2009 at 2:37 am
get
carlton cole, score goals, holds up the ball well, could be perfect partner for torres, young, english
adam johnson young, english, fast, skillfull, can cross, score goals
or
ashley young fast, skillfull, good freekick taker might cost to much tough
and we need a replacement for kuyt, he coming 30 and will be coming out his prime soon
get milner or lennon to replace him
RyanO - September 23rd, 2009 at 3:39 am
Know who we should get? BEHIND THE LADS THAT WEAR OUR SHIRT!!!! Jasus Christ on crutches, the fucking window is SHUT! Get over it already, we have a fabulous squad that has worked under Rafa and know the system. What is with you supporters wanting to sign this one and that one and his fucking sister? Can’t you see that this is the team you should be rooting for? Why can’t you be happy with what we have and enjoy the season? Why do you think that we can sign any player and have them fit into the squad seamlessly? I’d much rather have the young lads come up through the system than sign every fucking Spaniard, Brazilian or Italian that someone thinks is quality. Fucksake
Jed - September 23rd, 2009 at 5:36 am
retardboy trying to have a dig about some young english signings chelsea have made? go take a look at half your current squad you fucking retard…there is a reason you side is shit and its cos rafa makes one good signing for every 10 shit ones….you really are a complete moron arent you? do u think chelsea signed them for any other reason than prepaing for the 6-5 rule? was either player even on the bench last weekened? no….would either player be in the top squad at liverpool? you can bet your last dollar on it
anonymous - September 23rd, 2009 at 6:51 am
Got to agree with ryan o. If we keep getting new midfielders, when will plessis and spearing get their chances? Non of our midfielders are close to retirement ala chelski.
anonymous - September 23rd, 2009 at 7:55 am
Jed i heard Abramovic is lending liverpool money to purchase some players as he cannot sign anybody he has no use for the money. The deal is pay him back once his ban to sign players is lifted that will be when your average age in your pathetic excuse for a club is 32.
you all just good weather fans.
Tell me are you guys still struggling to fill your stadium.
I heard real Londoners Support Arsenal and Spurs and Chelsea is a bunch of wankers.
I wonder what you get out of pissing off Liverpool fans must live a very sorry life.
Do you even have friends because let me tell you that you not going to get any friends around here.Nice to be an idiot over the internet.I am sure in person you just a little sissy hey?People come on this website to talk about football you come here on a liverpool topic and talk lots of crap if you least had something constructive to say it would be different.Do even have any friends i don’t think so you pathetic waste of sperm.
anonymous - September 23rd, 2009 at 8:21 am
guys dont u think its time we replace carrager he was terrible against w-hamm and the same story yesterday against leeds.he made numerous mistaks that nearly cost us the game.we need agger back quickly
Retryboy - September 23rd, 2009 at 8:25 am
Ross turnbull is the same age torres and reina were when rafa signed them lol mascherano, skrtel, agger, johnson, lucas, insua and babel all younger compare the class of signing there you plum insua is the same age as sturridge except insua gets in the team week in week out cos he is better quality see we don’t have to panic buy 2nd rate young players lets face it sturridge wouldn’t get near the city reserve team (been on your bench all season missed the last game through injury by the way) cos our team is already made up of them and with plenty of young english talent breaking through too futures not orange its red buoy!
And if you think danny sturridge is gonna be half the player nemeth, pacheco or dalla valle is you are sorely deluded

it is simple – david silva
anonymous - September 23rd, 2009 at 11:05 am
it is simple – liverpool don’t have any money. They’d be lucky to sign David Platt on a free!
Retryboy - September 23rd, 2009 at 11:10 am
Now platt thats some1 in chelsea’s age range a good prospect 4 them
anonymous - September 23rd, 2009 at 11:12 am
Yeah, and they could afford him!
anonymous - September 23rd, 2009 at 11:14 am
Don’t know anything about this player. So I can’t make any comment on him. What I would say is go back over the articles here and see how many of them are a Liverpool vs ManU signing contest… majority are written by Liverpool fans. It’s bollocks and in future I can’t be bothered to read them – when it happens I’ll read about it on BBC

anonymous - September 23rd, 2009 at 1:07 pm
far way better and cheaper than aquilani, this move must have been done last transfer season, now it might be too late for liverpool, due to no cash available and much more teams interested.
maybe liverpool could throw in dossena and aquilani in the deal and get hamsik and lavezzi.
dossena, aquilani plus 15 million to get lavezzi and hamsik. napoli might think twice of that offer.
have to say that both lavezzi and hamsik have got a difficult carachter, but would boost liverpool in attack and midfield.
reina
johnson skrtel agger insua
mascherano
lavezzi gerrard hamsik benayoun
torres
(deeply sorry for carragher but still has a lot to offer)
anonymous - September 23rd, 2009 at 1:51 pm

Inter has already secured an option on Hamsik. You will see him join Inter next year.
See you.
anonymous - September 27th, 2009 at 3:34 pm
Hamsik has already said that he supports man utd so he will obviously join us.
