Bordeaux have ruled out in-demand striker Marouane Chamakh leaving in January.
The French-born Morocco international was linked with Arsenal and West Ham in the summer, but a move failed to materialise.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger recently stated he could revive his interest in the striker in the New Year, comments that have not sat well with Bordeaux.
Their president Jean-Louis Triaud insists the club are unwilling to do business for the 25-year-old in January regardless of the fact that he is out of contract in the summer.
“We’re not going to let him go in January!” said Triaud. “He’s an important player for us and he lifts everyone up.” (Sky Sports)
Given Arsene’s admiration of the Moroccan striker It does seem very likely indeed that Wenger will opt to move for the Bordeaux man in the summer when of course he will cost the club nothing. The only stumbling block to the move last month was the fee the French Champions were trying to get for a player they knew wanted to leave so now that they missed out on cashing in on Chamakh it seems that the club’s loss will be Arsenal’s gain.
He could be a good addition to our squad and will offer us more options up front and as he will cost nothing, its a bargain that will pay off either way.
