Former Spurs & Arsenal Man Sol Campebll Quits Notts County After 90 Minutes: Hands Up if You’re Surprised!

Sky Sports News understands Sol Campbell has walked away from League Two club Notts County after just one game.
The centre-back made the surprise decision to sign a five-year contract at Meadow Lane in the summer after his contract expired at Portsmouth.
But reports on Wednesday morning suggested Campbell had walked away from County, who have the 35-year-old’s ex-England boss Sven Goran Eriksson as director of football.
That speculation has now been confirmed, with the 73-time England cap saying his goodbyes to his short-term team-mates after training on Tuesday.
Campbell struggled on his debut for County as Ian McParland’s side lost to Morecambe on Saturday and it is understood he asked to be released from his deal after that match. (Sky Sports)
Well I have to say even I am surprised by the speedy nature of the former Arsenal and Tottenham’s realization that the move to League Two was doomed to failure. He lasted just one game at the club, and that game ended in defeat so perhaps County can do better without him?

I find this quite unbelievable really. The fact that he signed a 5 year deal was slightly baffling in the first place at his age and the fact that he has lasted such a short time makes that fact even more bizarre. Mr Cambell is no stranger to controversy though so I shouldn’t be surprised really. To think that there were people who thought that he would be a good signing for Liverpool in the summer just shows how little some folk know.

One month into a 5 year deal, Sol calls time. Genius. I wonder if he only just found out the side were league 2?

It is most bizarre. One has to wonder about Sol’s state of mind. He’ll probably disappear again for a few months.
