Portsmouth Vs Liverpool Tickets Still Available!

Marseille captain Mamadou Niang is reportedly being trailed by a host of Premier League clubs.

Liverpool, West Ham and Everton are all understood to be interested in the Senegal international, who scored a wonder goal in the 4-2 win over Montpellier on Saturday.

But the 29-year-old skipper has said that although there is interest from the Premier League, he is happy at Marseille.

“I am fine here, I have started the season well and Marseille has started the season very well,” he told African website Starafrik.

“My form is okay, that goal on Saturday was fantastic. I’ve heard interest from clubs in England but I am here at Marseille and I am very happy.” (Sky Sports)

This is interesting. As with any player linked with a move to Anfield the first thing that has to be considered is “where the hell is the money coming from?”. The Marseille captain is one of the best players plying his trade in France with the Senegalese striker finishing in the top ten list of scorers for each of the past four seasons.

Having played his entire career in France 29 year old Niang may feel that a move from Ligue 1 has to happen soon if at all, that is of course if he feels like moving to pastures new. He may just want to see if he can help his side to their first domestic title in almost a decade, sounds familiar, last season he came within 90 minutes of helping his side to that elusive title.

He is a powerful customer who is suited to the Premier League style and is valued in the £10-12m bracket.
