United should expect a tough match against the Potters.
Sir Alex Ferguson made 11 changes to his side for the midweek Carling Cup visit of Wolves and could do the same again for Saturday’s trip to Stoke.
Ben Foster will start in goal despite his recent errors with Tomasz Kuszczak returning to the bench.
Ricardo Fuller (groin) is out for Stoke so Dave Kitson plays as a lone striker with James Beattie on the bench.
Robert Huth keeps his place at right-back ahead of Andy Wilkinson and Liam Lawrence returns to the midfield.
Doubtful: Beattie (ankle), Fuller (groin)
Injured: A Faye (back), Sidibe (knee)
Suspended: Fabio (1 of 1 game) Doubtful: None
Injured: Hargreaves (knee), Obertan (back), Rafael (shoulder), Van der Sar (thumb) (BBC Sport)
The Britannia Stadium is always a tough place to go to and return with all three points. Tony Pulis has made Stoke’s home ground something of a fortress and they only lost four times on their own patch in the Premier League last season and we were mighty fortunate to sneak a late win their last season when Carlos Tevez scored the winner against the ten men Potters side.
Our lads should be on a high though after six wins on the trot and after that last gasp win over Man City. Ben Foster gets the nod again for this one and he is running out of lives at the club and if he drops another clanger I would imagine Tomasz Kuszczak will be called upon to take his place between the sticks. I hope to god that Edwin comes back soon because we are having real problems replacing the Dutchman effectively.
Anderson has been in top form recently which is good to see and apparently Owen Hargreaves is nearing a return so our treatment table will hopefully start to become less crowded in the coming weeks.
My Prediction: 1-0 to United
