Manchester United Set to Make Intelligent £20m Julio Cesar Bid?

Portsmouth Vs Manchester United Tickets Still Available!
Manchester United are looking for a goalkeeper after Van der Sar. Despite Ferguson’s comments, it seems difficult that Ben Foster will replace the Dutch man, due to his recent poor performance.
The English club follow the German under 21 Manuel Neuer of Schalke and Rui Patricio of Sporting Lisbon. The Red Devils would be prepared to offer Inter 20 million pounds for Julio Cesar.
(Calciomercato)
Given the very real fear that Edwin Van der Sar may call it quits either at the end of the season or even before, and the fact that Ben Foster has not exactly covered himself in glory with his displays and the added factor of Sir Alex Ferguson stating that he wouldn’t be surprised if Thomas Kuszczak requested to leave in order to secure first team football, the move for a new keeper has never been so important.
A number of names have been mentioned in this regard but Julio Cesar is one of the best around at the moment and the 30 year old vastly experienced Brazilian keeper could be a very good, if pricey, signing.
Sir Alex will want to act soon in order to make sure that he has a good back up for when our veteran Dutchman hangs up his gloves so he may try to bring someone in when the transfer window reopens in January unless of course by that time Ben Foster has impressed enough to make people forget his all too common failings between the sticks.

give the boy foster a bloody chance will you, he hasn’t played in a long time and deserves a consistant run of games. Ben foster is great talent and very young ( 26) which is very inexperienced for a goalie. cech. reina, almunia and given are older and have had 1st team experience for their own clubs.
lets decide if he is good enough at the end of the season but only judge his performances if he gets over 40+ appearances NOT when the seasons just started every youngster makes mistakes remember!
Please give him a chance, the boy will prove everyone wrong and will be great later on this season if SAF contnues to play for the rest of the season.

Ahmmmm….Cech is 27, he’s been amazing for years now, Reina – 27, Casillas – 28…..I am a huge United fan, and as such it is hurting me to see how our “goalie to be” in the near future is flopping so much, to the point where I can see VIda & RIo trying to avoid passing the ball back to him, clearing for throw in or corner instead. I really really really want Foster to come good, he’s got great reflexes but is not all round great keeper United deserve, and I think it’s very unfair to the old man to make comparisons with VDS, Edwin is just light years above the best Foster will ever get. And I just don’t think Foster will get any better in the short time he has to try and prove himself at United. Julio Cesar might be a good alternative, but I say persuade VDS to stay a season more and get Neuer as his understudy for the time being. I really think the German has great future, hopefully pulling the United jersey.

why would he move to a small club?

Last season you lot thought u had 3 world class keepers now apparently you got one and he would rather be at home watching bullseye repeats on a saturday than playing for you lot and who can blame him? Talk about fickle! Foster’s quality he’s had a dodgy start its just confidence and form not skill

foster might be poor but he’s practically englands no 1

It’s true that SAF has a definite impatience when it comes to keepers. Anyone that’s read his autobiography will know that – or who’s watched the tread-out of number-one’s at OT since Schmeichel hang up his gloves.
What people seem to forget is that in the 1998/1999 season, PS was not at his best. Before announcing his decision to leave at the end of that season (initially thought as retiring but played another 2 seasons – one in Portugal, the other for Shitty), he wasn’t very good. he was hesitant, slow off his line. But that was understandable as he was getting older.
The same, I’m afraid to say, is true of VDS. He joined United at an advanced age and they’ve kept hold of him for too long now.
Turning to Foster. It’s easy to deride a player without much experience of top-flight, first-team football. Anyone that knows the game will admit that he’s a keeper of some ABILITY. I’m not talking form, i’m talking ability. With a good run in the first team, he’d be exceptional.
That said, SAF has a bad record of giving keepers a good chance, whereas he’ll keep with players like Rio and Neville(G) until they’re run into the ground!
I can see Foster going. I can see another (expensive) keeper being brought in. I don’t like it and I think, sadly, it’ll be another case of post-PS madness once again. Bosnich, Clown-Keeper, Taibi (another great keeper, never given a chance, BTW) and Howard.
I think it’s sad. Foster has ability and needs just a little time.

Real would never seel Iker . And lol even if he is just a goal keeper Julio is worth more than 30mill

its simple, foster had one good season at watford and everyone tought he was class, difference is at watford he probibly had to make 10-20 good saves per match, he was kept very busy. and once you make one good save in a match you get that adreniline rush and can stop everything,ok you might not stop everything but you will do well.but at united he goes long periods without doing much, and trust me playing in goal for a top team is alot harder than playin for a lower team, it is very difficult to keep your concetration, but that comes with age! look at reina, cech, given, and james, it still happens to them, just not as much as young foster, good keeper, not good enough for utd. but maybe its down to gettin a run in the team, one lad mentioned taibi, great keeper, just didn’t get a chance. i watched alot of italian football back then, some of the saves he was pullin of were unreal. cesar is probably the best keeper in the world at the moment along with casillis, 20m prob worth it, concidering buffon cost 32m when juve bought him a few years back.

why not Gordon?

must buffon,he fantastic
anonymous - September 30th, 2009 at 4:45 pm
I don’t get why people are saying get Buffon, get Cesar. Buffon is 31 & Cesar is 30. Yes they are amongst the best GK’s in the world at this moment.
We already have VDS who is also one of the best in the world however he is also over 30.
We as fans should be trying to help Fergie preserve the future of Utd as the best club in Britain.
He should sign Igor Akinfeev and Manuel Neuer, as the have both proven that they are the best young goalkeepers on the world stage, and they are both consistent.
And I really doubt that Buffon would ever leave Juventus, and if Cesar would like sitting on the bench every other game.

Sir Alex Ferguson,
can consider buy Russia keeper Igor Akinfeev..he is talent young boy..
Ben Foster is noob…always done silly mistakes….disaster
