Aston Villa Vs Manchester City Team News & Prediction Thread
by Christian Bailey on October 5th, 2009 12 commentsBarry set for warm reception!
Steve Sidwell could earn a Villa recall, having recovered from the hamstring strain that caused him to miss the defeat at Blackburn.
Luke Young is unlikely to start his season until after the international break as he builds up his fitness.
Emmanuel Adebayor returns from a three-match suspension for Manchester City, having escaped a further ban for his goal celebration against Arsenal.
Fit-again striker Roque Santa Cruz is likely to be among the substitutes.Aston Villa
Suspended: None Doubtful: L Young (match fitness)
Injured: Bouma (ankle), Davies (shoulder), Downing (foot)Manchester City
Suspended: None Doubtful: None
Injured: Benjani (hip), Kompany (toe), Onuoha (thigh), Robinho (ankle) (BBC Sport)
This has the potential to be an entertaining encounter between two sides who have begun the season brightly and is of course further fueled by the return to Villa Park of former skipper Gareth Barry.
Aston Villa began the season with a surprise defeat at home to Wigan but then went on a good run of wins before they fell to a late defeat at Ewood Park. Man City put aside the devastation of their last gasp defeat at Old Trafford to ease past West Ham last weekend and I can see this game being a high scoring draw.
My Prediction: 2-2

I don’t think we can really expect to beat City. Keep them to single figures, though, and try and get one ourselves.
