Neven Subotic: The ‘New Vidic’ Tracked by Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs & Man City
The Premier League big boys are reportedly monitoring the form of Serbian 6 ft 4 centre-half Neven Subotic despite the player recently signing a new long-term contract with his club Borussia Dortmund. The player dubbed the ‘New Nemanja Vidic’ is unlikely to move this season but a summer move may well be likely according to his agent Steve Kelly.
Kelly told Sport.co.uk, “Neven is always going to attract speculation because he is a top class player. I think he would be interested in a top club, but which client? I don’t know. It is doubtful he will move in January, but I am sure there will be a lot of specualtion and rumours. I know England’s top clubs are monitoring, as are Italy’s top clubs.
“He plays for Serbia at the weekend and if they win that they qualify for the World Cup. Speculation is bound to start, but I cannot see him moving before next summer’s tournament. But anything can happen in football.”
The 20-year-old enjoyed a fantastic debut season with Borussia after moving from Mainz. His form resulted in the offer of a new improved contract which he signed which would see him remain at the club until 2014. He has played in all 8 league games this season starting and finishing each match. However, Dortmund’s form has not been great as they sit 12th after winning just twice. This has increased speculation that the Serbian may depart to further his ambitions.(Football Pools)
Whilst its true that William Gallas and Thomas Vermaelen have gelled well at the back for Arsenal, Wenger could well be considering bringing in some new recruits to help build for the future, especially as Johann Djourou has been a little hit and miss since he became part of the first team picture.
Neven Subotic, dubbed the new “Nemanja Vidic”, is an impressive youngster who’s towering frame has become a feature of the Borussia back four, and whilst his agent may be keen to calm speculation it does appear his client is a much admired player who a great many big sides are considering a move for.
The price may be a little rich and that could be the stumbling block to any real interest from Arsene Wenger, but he will no doubt be keeping an eye on the Bundesliga starlet.

Gallas isn’t getting any younger so we could do with another youngster coming through. Djourou may not make it in my view, too unpredictable.

Too expensive. Not happening.
The Puyol rumour makes more sense, which shows you what bollox this Subotic rumour is. With Djourou and Sendy and youngsters like Ignasi and Boateng coming through the ranks it ain’t happening.
