Liverpool Eye Up £9m Starlet: Rafa Takes Note of Nilton

And – what’s this? – Liverpool are “eyeing” Vasco da Gama’s Nílton. “The 22-year-old scored a stunning overhead volley in Vasco’s 4-1 victory over Vila Nova and Liverpool manager Rafael Benítez has taken note”. Presumably by writing the words “scrd stun ovrhd voll in 4-1 vic” on a tatty pad he keeps in the kitchen but can never find whenever he’s talking to the electricity people on the phone. (Guardian)
Not sure how much of a pinch of salt to take with this speculation. The 22 year old defensive midfielder did indeed score a damned good goal for Vasco da Gama but I am not sure that is all one has to do to get the attention of a top notch Premier League club.
Scoring a wonderful overhead kick obviously gets you noticed but whether it is sufficient to get Europe’s top bosses to start calling your mobile is another matter. Methinks that the player’s agent got a little carried away and decided to conjure up some ’slight mis truths’ to big up his client.
The Brazilian battler is currently plying his trade in the second tier of the Brazilian National league after Vasco got themselves relegated last term and may well be a decent player but the £9m rated former Under 20 international is not likely to be on Rafa’s shopping list any time soon.

Yeah, seems like agent speak to me. Saw that goal he scored, it was amazing, but Rafa would need to take more of a look rather than being convinced by a Youtube clip ala Dennis Wise!

good sake
where the hell did the 9 million come from
the guy’s contract is up in january and Vasco offered him a new contract but he rejected
he will probably sign on a free in january and wont be a regular but masch understudy
i watch brazilian football and that guy would be a bargain on a free transfer and could be a great player in 1 or 2 years
get him on a pre contract before inter snap him
you wont regret it
got good speed, decent tackle and not bad going forward
