Meanwhile in the only player-related transfer rumour to be unearthed in a sweep of today’s papers, Portsmouth are ready to splash some of the money nobody is quite sure they have on Tottenham’s Giovani Dos Santos. Having spent the second half of last season on loan at Ipswich Town and featured in nothing more prestigious than the League Cup for Spurs this season, the Mexican midfielder is about as popular with Harry Redknapp as a Jermain Defoe stamp on Aaron Mokoena and will probably be the latest player to travel the well-worn furrow between White Hart Lane and Fratton Park. (Guardian)
Giovani is very much the forgotten man at White Hart Lane, thus far only seeing action in the Carling Cup, but in all fairness what can Harry Redknapp do? Clearly he has the north London side purring at present and any changes would be a backward step and whilst in theory the Mexican starlet could get a few minutes coming off the bench that wouldn’t really do anyone any good.
The former Barcelona man may well benefit from a move to Fratton Park where he could be a big fish in a relatively small pond but perhaps a loan deal would suit all parties as opposed to Harry allowing the £6m man to make a permanent exit. There is no doubting the talent the 20 year old attacker possesses it just so happens that he is at a club who are doing fantastically well this season and are doing so without his help, a similar problem affects Roman Pavlyuchenko who can’t get himself in the first team picture and he too may be better served seeking an exit.
Both players are top notch but it is a sign of the vast improvement sparked by the arrival of Redknapp that both international stars are simply surplus to requirements at the club.

Agreed. It seems both players, and some others like Taarabt, do not have a chance right now of breaking into the first team picture, better for them instead to opt for a new challenge. We have a fantastic squad now, with decent replacements for just about every position. Considering we have already played some very big sides, it is incredible we are so high up the table, long may it continue.

Why should we sell Taarabt we have watched this lad grow into a very exciting player and invested time and energy turning him into the international player he has become bring him back and play him Harry.

Kind of agree. Dos Santos is not out of favour tho, he is liked by harry but didn’t get a chance due to the fact he got injured. However a loan would be good, but only to a premiership side. Pav however i cannont see staying, and he has some good performances, but isn’t needed anymore. Better to cash in on him now and if we need a striker can call Santos back off loan.

DOANTOS will not be sold and is one for our exciting future and present like Taarabt he will be brought back in to the first teams set up by Harry.

dont agree ,pav yes but dos santos has a big part to play this season, hes a raw talent and players will get injured over a season.can be used as a left winger or forward !

Dos Santos would become the new Messi at Arsenal. Sadly though it seems that he will waste his career sitting on the bench of a small club.

Taarabt has bundles of skills, can do all the tricks and scored a cracking goal at the weekend. Playing in the Championship will do him a load of good as he will learn that he cannot dwell and mess about on the ball too much or he will get clattered. When he did play for Spurs he came across as a big time Charlie, did not pass and preferred to showboat. Hopefully he is learning.
Gio looked a great bit part player in a very strong Barca side, he has got loads of ability but the premiership is a lot different. He showed glimpses in his first pre-season and then had a chance in a struggling side at the start of the season. Harry needed to change the side and put workers in which spelt the end for Gio. Both he and Taarabt are very young still, will no doubt want games and that will be the problem at Spurs. The loan move has worked really well for Taarabt as he started well, was then dropped and criticised and then came back and scored the wonder goal at the weekend. Once Gio is fit, he will struggle to get on the bench. However, i would much rather see him on the bench than Bentley.
Pav is a good player, i would like to see him stay and fight for his place, he has been unlucky with injuries and when he has played the goals he has scored have been good finishes. He may get an opportunity with Defoe out for 3 games and will really have to do something special to get a starting place after that. Crouchy scored a hatrick in the cup but that was not enough to get him a starting place in the next few games.
I would not be at all surprised to see all of them sold in the summer if not sooner, a shame, but if Harry uses the money and replaces them with better players that integrate into the team and improve the squad then that can only be good for Spurs and the players.

Sell Dos Santos, Pav & Bentley and bring in Huntelaar plus a tougher partner for Willie P.
Veloso at Sporting is still out there and may well be interested in a move to WHL
If we could get another strong but skilful midfielder like him in, to complement/replace Hudd/Jenas, plus a more muscular alternative to Crouch, then I truly believe we would be ina position to compete over a full season.
Thoughts?

All nonsense both are gifted players that are just in need of that bit of luck to get them in the team once they have that chance they will show all the doubters of their ability & worth to the team!
COYS – give them a chance Harry…

I confident that GDS & TAARABT are our good asset and both of them have a bright future for Tottenham in most Important part in midfield position .
Harry !! pls. give them a chance with full game in the Leauge cup first , Then bring them into the first team as the sub. player. GIO is a genious & quick player . Taarrabt is the technician player . They will shine inthe next season.
Please don’t them leave from the club… It may the huge lost for the team .
Meantime , pls. try to swap Pav with Hunter , it may be good benifit for Milan & Tottenham . Nothing to loose.
I also hope that Tottenham can hold the 4th position at least at the end. If Spurs has more consistanccy & big 4 charcter ( never give up until the last minute)
Come on you spurs !!!

I would not sell them. We might regret it as we do perhaps for Bent who was sold too hastily and could not show his full prowess as he does now at Sunderland (top goal scorer so far in the Premier League) as he was kept too often on the bench. So, let us give a chance to Giovanni and Pav to play occasionally so that they can show their real. worth. Too often, we, as a ‘feeder club’, have been too quick to sell our good players to other clubs and they are now all shining in their respective clubs. Berbatov, Mendes, Malbranque, Bent, Kaboul, Boateng, Reid, Kanoute, Zamora, Murphy, Chimbonda are but a few examples.
