Middlesbrough have appointed Gordon Strachan as their new manager.
The 52-year-old, who left Celtic in May and has also managed Coventry and Southampton, succeeds Gareth Southgate, who was saked last week. (BBC Sport)
Well that was the worst kept secret in a long time. It has been known for some days that Mr. Strachan was to take the reins at the Riverside but for some reason this couldn’t be officially announced until today, but there you have it.
Quite how Boro will recover from the loss of such a tactical and managerial genius like Gareth Southgate is unknown but I am sure they will muddle by. I am of course being incredibly sarcastic. Gordon Strachan is a proven success of a boss. He has been there and done it. Expect the Scot to be linked with a myriad of Celtic players come January!
