Now it may seem at times a bit of a thinly veiled compliment to be named as an improved player but it may not necessarily mean that the player involved was particularly poor beforehand and that perhaps they just got even better.
There are of course some players who at times angered even their own fans but have won them over in the course of recent months. Now is your chance to name those very players who made you think to yourself “hang on, did he just complete a successful pass, haven’t seen that before”.
Name your players below and perhaps some reasons for your selection even if those reasons are as simple as “I thought he was the worst player on the planet but have since promoted him to the second worst”.

Yossi Benayoun for Liverpool fc undoubtedly following from the tail end of last season. He was a good player before but is slowly becoming one of the most pivotal members of our team, especially with the likes of Gerrard, Aquilani and Riera injured.

Sturridge from Chelsea…..

As a United fan i’d say Fletcher. Over the last 2 years hes improved immensley. When fit, i’d play him over any other United midfielder.

Most improved in the Premiership would be a good talking point. I would not like to call that one. A few names to throw in would be the likes of Cahill from Bolton, Carlton Cole, Agbonlahor perhaps? All had great raw talent from day one, but have grown from strength to strength this season for me. All English as well, which is always a good sign with the World cup next year!

although benayoun has improved alot since we signed him, I’d say Lucas is r most improved. He has gone from being terrible every game to outplaying scholes and carrick in midfield

Lucas is still awful, the guy committed at least 5/6 fouls against Man United recently and didn’t even get a booking. If you call fouling other players “outplaying” then you need to rethink that one. Even if he played well, one game does not make you an improved player. Why the guy still plays regularly is beyond me. Even with injuries to Gerrard and Aquiliani, surely there is a young talent on the books who can be given a chance?

because i support arsenal i think probably the most improved player is bentner because he doesent score goals more than other players butsince hes been on pitch hes played very well

anonymous - November 3rd, 2009 at 7:29 pm
i would say anderson for man utd he has been the light of the mid he has boosted the mid when giggs is not there oh yeh and giggsz he has improved because we al didn’t know how good he was until cr9 departured. now all we need is david villa and silva and we are bac to bein the best and strongest but some people may say we are that already.maybe we are who knows. if we use the right players for the right matches then yes we are MUFC4LIFE.

Bridge and de Jong are both vastly improved on last seasons performances
...samlfc.... - November 3rd, 2009 at 7:35 pm
Yossi Benyaoun, Lucas for liverpool
an carlton cole for west ham
Retryboy - November 3rd, 2009 at 7:55 pm
Has to be lucas gone from total liability to a solid squad player he did have far more backing than any player can reasonably expect by his own admission. Yossi has always been quality think he has just been utilised better this campaign and got a bit more self belief
anonymous - November 3rd, 2009 at 8:16 pm
I think Mario Balotelli is the most improved young player in INTER MILAN
RaNE - November 3rd, 2009 at 8:34 pm
Definatly Yossi Benayoun he has improved alot since coming to liverpool and been actually really successful and for 5mil a bargain.
anonymous - November 3rd, 2009 at 8:38 pm
Yossi Benayoun!
anonymous - November 3rd, 2009 at 9:39 pm
As a United fan i hate to say it but i believe that the most improved player in the premiership is Stephen Ireland, he has forced his way to the forefront in a team with unlimited spending power and great foreign stars
anonymous - November 3rd, 2009 at 10:47 pm
As a true blue who has supported Chelsea for more than 20 years, i would say is Branislav Ivanovi?, he has become a very good defender and does very well at CB. I think he can prosper at Chelsea and in 2 season or one be our number 1 CB with JT. When ever he’s defending, their is something about him, which gives most fans calmness, like Terry does.
anonymous - November 3rd, 2009 at 10:51 pm
Alex Song for Arsenal.
anonymous - November 3rd, 2009 at 10:58 pm
i think that Branislav Ivanovic and Nicolas Anelka for the blues
johnson for liverpool, berbatov for man utd (he was shocking last season), bendtner for arsenal, and outside the ‘big four’ i think the most improved player is Bobby Zamora for fulham….thats my opinion
from a chelsea fan..

My most improved player in the premier league for this season would go to Craig Bellamy. He’s been immense in a team filled with incredible talent. Its hard to think that this is the same Bellamy we had on our pitch not so long ago.
As far as Liverpool goes there’s no surprises. Yossi for last season, Lucas for this.
anonymous - November 4th, 2009 at 1:43 am
Im a Man City fan and I personally feel that Stephen Ireland is the most improved player in our team along with Bellamy, but in the premiership i would have to choose between Yossi Benayoun and Hugo Rodallega (hes been incredible this season) .
anonymous - November 4th, 2009 at 2:12 am
Definitely carlton Cole for us. He has been a reelation to most hammers and has lost his middle name of carlton f’in cole!
Retryboy - November 4th, 2009 at 5:33 am
In the premier league would say james milner. Ireland was city’s best player by far last season and would have my vote for last year.
anonymous - November 4th, 2009 at 8:51 am
LUcas??
anonymous - November 4th, 2009 at 9:15 am
Lucus Leiva has been sublime this season and i can only hope he keeps it goin! Yossi Benayoun has managed to improve from his stunning end to last season and Craig Bellamy has been fantastic this season and i often wish he was still wearing the red shirt!

For me I have to Say Angel DiMaria from Benfica. But Fabio Coentrão is making a great season start also. Both players with a great future and super talented.
