these actually are not the best goals of the season, so people should not be so judgmental. this is a compilation of : "goals of the week"!! some weeks there quite a few outstanding goals, while other weeks were filled with just clinical goals. i find that most of the critical comments do not have much base. football is growing in america, so everyone should just deal with it. the MLS has only existed for about 15 years... i would say it may be the fastest progressing league in the world. still a long way to go... but it is getting there faster than expected.

The American league is developing nicely, just look at this new ground for Red Bull New York as the example of their development. Also 6 new clubs added to the league in the last five years and in 2011 two more clubs in Portland and Vancouver.

I would not worry much about comments from some Europeans here, we are developing the sport here in North America no matter if they like it or not. We have the largest youth soccer/footballing system in the world and when the salaries in the MLS is comparable to that of some of the top European leagues, then you'll see the real shift in popularity of MLS. One thing most people in the world know about us Americans is that we have this strong desire to be the best at what we do and that's part of the reason why more Americans do not embrace the sport here yet, because they know we are not the best yet. But the facts remains, the sport is growing here now and it's getting more popular and our European cousins knows this and it's a cause for great concern for some Europeans.

The last time I checked our National team (Team USA) was ranked 11th in the world by FIFA, we are not there yet and we still have some growth and development left to get to be called number 1, but we are coming! Just think of this, it was just ten years ago it was a dream for our National team to be ranked in the top 30 teams of the world and today we are 11th! So let them talk, but the realities can not be escaped...the Yanks are coming and the baby eagle is growing each day and will grow stronger and more respectable each year! Some people don't like that, they say you are the best at everything else like track and field, basketball, golf, tennis etc, just let us have our football, so that's why it's easy to take out their frustrations on MLS and not respect the little league from America that deared to be respected! "Because it's American"!!! We are on their radar now though and they know about MLS everywhere in the world now, and that in it's self is a small victory! So MLS fans don't say anything and stay patient, we'll just stay underestimated until the day comes when respect MUST be given...just remember you heard it here first the Yanks are coming

just looking at a goal of the year video hardly proves anything. find any top player in the league i.e. gerrard, torres, rooney, drogba, van persie or even some of the not quite leading players like crouchy and defoe and u will be able to make a better video than this with just the goals from one player over the last season. i bet u the long range goals here were mainly just hit and hopes that actually came off.

I like how the anonymous guy listing the players and what classes they were in only managed to mention the older guys, and none of the younger guys like Nyassi, Arnoud. I have to be honest, when it comes down to it NO ONE is CLAIMING the MLS is better then the premier league. We're trying to say we're getting to a pretty good level and we're just trying to get into the game. Many of the "European" opinions I get or just read are simple things like "not that good" or people go on to mention people "passed their prime."

Brian McBride was a VERY loved player by Fulham, and in his last season was NOT a benchwarmer, rather injured. Fulham actually wanted him back. No one can disprove Landon surely has talent. Let's face it, Germany is NOT the place for him, but there are other leagues are there not? I'm sure Landon can find his place in another league. Iniesta himself said

“Donovan surprises you with just how much skill he has,” Iniesta said. “He thinks about the game in a very advanced way – that is the way we try to play in Spain and in the national team. It would be good to have him in La Liga. I believe he could be successful.”

And not to mention MLS has PLENTY of young talent and is beginning to become the place where many young South American players want to come.

In no way are any of us saying MLS is better then the premier league, maybe not COMPLETELY at the level yet. But lets not be snobs about this regardless where we are from. More and more better players are beginning to leave straight from MLS and go into the Premier League, Serie A, etc such as Clint Dempsey.

Please, I just remind anyone, just watch MLS with an open mind and not be a snob. All americans want is the sport grow here, support from every day people and European based fans can only help.

Retryboy, colleges have always given scholarships for soccer/football, it's just that basketball, football, and baseball are competing sports that Americans are used to. Soccer just isn't a daily discussion point here like it is in other parts of the world. Just this year ESPN started airing EPL games, I rarely caught an MLS game on ESPN because they again, have to compete for attention with the other sports.

While the MLS is up and coming, if anyone saw the Galaxy/Chivas playoff game the other night would see that it has a long way to go. 3 of the 4 goals scored were because of sheer f'ups and sloppy play.
