1. Robbie Keane – Whether you agreed with the signing of the Tottenham man or not, Rafa failed to give the striker a decent chance and clearly his lack of confidence in the Irishman had a negative influence on the forward.
2. Tactical Errors a plenty – Tries godforsaken formations, plays players where they do not fit.
3. Winning the Champions League four years ago Isn’t enough to make you immune to a sacking.
4. The club needs a fresh start, that means both at boardroom level AND in the dugout.
5. Xabi Alonso – The Spaniard had every right to leave Anfield this summer mainly because Rafa made the mistake of being more than happy to sell Xabi the previous summer in favour of an ill fated move for Gareth Barry.
6. Dependence on El Nino and Stevie G – There is no point in Rafa bleeting on about how we rarely have the use of both world class players in the same match when clearly he should have done better in the transfer market to ensure we didn’t have to depend so much on both of them.
7. Not enough quality players purchased – If we’re being honest, how many top quality signings can you name under the Rafa regime? £208m spent on players in five years, how many intelligent forays into the transfer market can you name?
8. Substitutions – Why does Rafa never make his replacements until its far far too late. How often have you looked on from the stands to see the subs board come up and then find yourself scratching your head in wonderment.
9. Blame game – He never takes the blame for a poor result on the pitch, preferring instead to blame injuries and referring errors.
10. We are moving backwards and not forwards – We have fell backwards since the summer in every way possible. Whilst the likes of Man City and Tottenham have improved their squads in the last year, ours has gotten worse. We lie in seventh place and have won one game in nine. It’s time for a change.

I agree with about 8 or the 10 statements here and whilst I have tried my hardest to support Rafa, even during the recent poor patch, I really think its time we moved on and brought someone else in.
anonymous - November 10th, 2009 at 4:49 pm
BORING. Have you even watched a football match?
Your grammar is so piss-poor it completely negates any intellect in your article. Which, come to think of it, isn’t much to write home about. How’s about showing some support to who is statistically one of the the best managers we’ve ever had – never mind in this economic climate?
anonymous - November 10th, 2009 at 4:55 pm
YNWA would kick your ass for this article. Mr Rant could learn alot from YNWA as he tends to write intelligent articles and knows what he is talking about, whereas Mr Rant is talking rubbish, although to be honest I do agree with 2 or 3 of these reasons.
anonymous - November 10th, 2009 at 5:02 pm
What a silly silly article!
I think you’ve been reading too much of The Sun!
Number 7. Not enough quality players purchased..
Erm.. Torres, Mascherano, Agger, Johnson, Insua, Aurello, Kuyt, Skertel, Riena, Benayoun and to a lesser extent Ngog, Lucas, Reira and Babel have all contributed (albiet small amounts) in the past and are imporving especially Ngog and Lucas.. As well as those who have been sold (for a profit) Arbeloa, Alonso, Sissoko, Crouch, Bellamy and Garcia.
Yes Rafa has made his mistakes but who hasn’t? Both Fergie and Arsene defenantly have but theres aren’t blown up by the media and the silly fans who hang on their every word.
All these players have had varying degrees of success for Liverpool and were all bought by Benitez.
Please dont be sort sighted and listen to everything you’ve read in the papers or hear on TV.
Liverpool finished 2nd last year for crying out loud. They dont become bad players overnight!!
anonymous - November 10th, 2009 at 5:02 pm
3. is not a reason, its a statement
and 6&7 are the same thing.
u should have really titled the article “8 reasons to sack Benitez”… but that doesnt really have the same ring to it
Ryan Babel - November 10th, 2009 at 5:03 pm
Be a supporter meaning support.we are not going backwards where just having a bad season ffs.It is to do with injuries but we should have a big enough squad so hopefully this will help rafa and the owners that we ARE lacking in depth in quality.but going backwards come on with houllier we were in the uefa with rafa weve been consistant in the UCL Winning-last 16-final semi final-semi final-quarter final, last few knocked out by chelsea.then in the league weve 5th-3rd-4th-2nd. thats not backwards.(yet).
anonymous - November 10th, 2009 at 5:05 pm
1) Robbie Keane failed whenever he was given a chance. He had to play his part and grab the limited opportunities he was given. He didnt. Not Rafas Fault
9) 10)
2) 3) 4) 5) 6) 7)
Do you not i cant be bothered this is possibly the worst article of its kind i have ever read.
Yeah ok Should Benitez go? well maybe he should whilst he retains the legend status he richly deserves and with his dignity intact. not for those prro reasons given in this article

rafa fits modern-day liverpool perfectly; a joke of a manager for a club run as a circus. no stability from boardroom to pitch & mediocre players are no way to reward the fantastic liverpool fans. LFC is not a 2 man team (as long as it doesn’t want to finish in the top 4)

Why are you writing about liverpool calling us ‘we’ when in your first article on here you admitted to being a united fan?! September 22nd in the article what the f*** is wrong with michel platini and sepp blatter ‘i am a man united fan and we have enough english players for it not to affect us’ jog on and leave the liverpool discussions to liverpool fans who can actually articulate their points
anonymous - November 10th, 2009 at 5:35 pm
yh well done retroboy.
Retryboy - November 10th, 2009 at 5:39 pm
Also note in the comments section of that article his support of jed and the mauling he received from me because of it and now he comes on here pretending to be a red ha ha what a mug
anonymous - November 10th, 2009 at 5:40 pm
piss off !!! despite some of these mishaps, benitez is the man for the job. if the players all love him he must be good.
anonymous - November 10th, 2009 at 5:43 pm
Unfortunately, YNWA isn’t much better…
Retryboy - November 10th, 2009 at 5:56 pm
Am totally fed up with rafa personally but i’d rather discuss my complaints and frustrations with liverpool fans on a story written by a liverpool fan. Would always defend him against attacks from fans of other clubs so can’t really comment any more on this story.
anonymous - November 10th, 2009 at 5:58 pm
If our defence was performing as good as normal we would be well up there and would have qualified for the knockout already.
anonymous - November 10th, 2009 at 5:59 pm
you douters should read this:
Be a supporter meaning support.we are not going backwards where just having a bad season ffs.It is to do with injuries but we should have a big enough squad so hopefully this will help rafa and the owners that we ARE lacking in depth in quality.but going backwards come on with houllier we were in the uefa with rafa weve been consistant in the UCL Winning-last 16-final semi final-semi final-quarter final, last few knocked out by chelsea.then in the league weve 5th-3rd-4th-2nd. thats not backwards.(yet).

good evening all
agrees with points 1 , 2 , 3 , 8 and thats about it
kermit - November 10th, 2009 at 7:05 pm
isnt advocating rafas sacking is just thinkingwe shoukd look at fabio capello to replace him after the world cup if he doesnt get his shit in order
Donavan Ried - November 10th, 2009 at 7:26 pm
I don.t agree with the first or last points, by the rest most definitely
kermit - November 10th, 2009 at 7:30 pm
we were top of the league when robbie keane left anfield, he never got a fair go, was continually played out of position ie left midfield and a s a lone striker , neither the job he was bought to do or his most effective position
anonymous - November 10th, 2009 at 7:47 pm
Bunch of FAKE liverpool fans.
anonymous - November 10th, 2009 at 7:48 pm
Morons. YNWA my ass. You will walk alone in the Championship next year. LFC is a mediocre club that has won 1 significant title in 15 years.
Stop hanging your hats on 18 titles that the club won before you guys were born. Nottingham Forest did well in the past too, but they suck now. So will you!
Oh, by the way – Rafa will get sacked, you will get knocked out of CL this year and not qualify for next year/ Torres will leave next summer and the Americans will foreclose on LFC. Suck it up scousers
Ryan Babel - November 10th, 2009 at 7:55 pm
The only manager that could cope and do well enough is Capello(my favourite),mourinho, guus hidink anyway. but dont think we should sack rafa.
we are missing out on a great oppertunity to win the epl with Fernando Torres.
Wouldnt mind it if rafa got sacked then replaced by cappello or mourinho at the end of the season if we dont get better after jan.
baggins09 - November 10th, 2009 at 8:22 pm
capello would be awsome mate, he’d get the best out our players, look what he’s done to a woeful england squad (although i do think brazil is our first real test).
i wouldn’t mind benitez if he learnt from his mistakes, but the guys so stubourn its verging on arrogance, he just can’t admit he’s done wrong or that he got his tactics (or lack of them) wrong, or that his precious 4-5-1 isn’t effective in every game, other than that he’s not too bad………oh hang on theres the shocking subs decisions and how late they come in the day and the fact he tries to put square pegs in round holes to accomodate his favoured formation.
i’ve never been a rafa hater or lover before but i’d definately not lose any sleep if he got sacked or left i’d put up with sammy lee till the end of season if thought we would have any of the following at the begining of next season capello, mourinho, hiddink, mancini fuck it i’d even have sven right now not too sure why city got rid.
anonymous - November 10th, 2009 at 9:50 pm
Point 1- All the kop wanted Robbie to do well i’m afraid that the move was just a step to big he lacked pace that clinical finish and sometimes that game intelligence however he worked his rocks off. Rafa would have kept him if he had been bought him for 6-10 mil 20 mil he was too much so he had to recoup some the money. I must also point out that Rafa would have looked at hisage and at 29 he thought he may be too old for a re-sale value.
Point 2,3,4 i would agree with you
Point 5- As one post stated xabi only had two great seasons the latter being his best because he new he wanted away. Also in the bigger games xabi was a bit short and struggled in pace but overall in y view a great player for liverpool and in part this year missed. would Gareth barry be a better signing i think he would have because he would he given the side a better balance.
Point 6,7 i agree them two are world class there is no substitute for class
Point 8 – i sort of understand why Rafa does this
Point 9- I agree
point 10- If liverpool go in for any player the value always goes up. Because of the expectations and scrunity by us all its really difficult, there is also the added value of pressure on the player.
The problem is the ownership of the club Rafa for me is doing a difficult job in difficult circumstances.
I also agree that capello would be a good call
Regards
Pete

CAPELLO ISN’T GOING TO COACH ANOTHER CLUB AFTER ENGLAND. He’s said that. He’s at the end of a wonderful career and has absolutely nothing to lose with England. There would be zero chance of him coaching a Premiership team. About as much as getting rid of Rafa would stop the rot.
kermit - November 11th, 2009 at 12:22 am
people do change their minds esp when appealing fresh challenges are put in front of them capello has won titles in italy and in, why not england to to finsih the collection of europes three top leagues spain
anonymous - November 11th, 2009 at 1:53 am
As a very long Liverpool Supporter, I seriously think that all those who think that Rafa should be sack, should GO AND SUPPORT ANOTHER TEAM BECAUSE YOU ARE TRAITORS. How good was last seasons campaign? Reds finished second with one of the best stats ever but unlucky that Manure UTD won it though. This year the lack of depth is well exposed. Reds are in deep shit. Lack of depth? Where was the promised money to buy real high proven calibre players to have good backups in each position? The Yankees have not lived up to the expectation. Rick Parry?? What a foolish donkey. Rafa has had to sell to get money to buy new players with what he could afford. How can you compete against clubs full of cash like Chelsea, Man Utd, Real Madrid, Barcelone???
Even bring Jose Mounrinho at Anfield right now won’t change a thing. I think Jose won’t come at all with the lack of cash to strengthen the team. But these days it seems badluck has hit the Reds big time. WIth so much injuries, sickness, mad red cards, Rafa can’t do much but pray for goodluck and nice shinny start to come back. If we had money we would have gotten David Silva, Frank Ribery, Karim Benzema. Where is the money? When money was required Rafa wasn’t not given enough to to compete with other buyers. But hopeful this badluck times will go soon and Reds can get back to winning ways. Rafa ha done well at Anfield and NO ONE CAN BLAME HIM WHEN PLAYERS ARE NOT IN GOOD SHAPE OR MAKE STUPID MISTAKES.
Ah by the way GRAEME SOUNESS WOULD PLEASE SHUT YOUR STINKY SCOTTISH MOUTH. YOU WERE TEH WORST COACH WE EVER HAD. YOU ARE THE ONE WHO DESTROYED LIVERPOOL BY SELLING THE BACK BONE OF THE TEAM YOU IDIOT!!!
anonymous - November 11th, 2009 at 7:25 am
if they sacked rafa now…anything will change??maybe i agree lacked of spending for players but, if they sacked rafa now ..nothing will change…we have a lots of player injured…what do u guys think , new manager will put reina up front and gerrard as center back to win the match????!!!
anonymous - November 11th, 2009 at 9:20 am
THE CHOSEN ONE
united fan or not you raised some points so liverpool fan or not I will reply
1. Robbie Keane – Whether you agreed with the signing of the Tottenham man or not, Rafa failed to give the striker a decent chance and clearly his lack of confidence in the Irishman had a negative influence on the forward.
I THINK KEANE HAD A DECENT CHANCE, OK MAYBE HE COULD OF GOT A BIT MORE BUT HES AN INTERNATIONAL, A LIVERPOOL FAN AND HAS BEEN AROUND ENOUGH TO KNOW HE SHOULD OF DONE BETTER. HE WAS SOLD DUE TO LACK OF FUNDS . HE NEVER MADE THE IMPACT FULL STOP. TELLS US ALOT ABOUT HIM AND PLAYERS LIKE NGOG THAT DO. PERSONALLY I THINK HE SITS 4-4-2 FORMATION THE BEST AND LIVERPOOL SELDOMLY PLAY THAT.
2. Tactical Errors a plenty – Tries godforsaken formations, plays players where they do not fit.
MMM AMUSING, IS THIS THE SAME FORMATION THAT HAS BEEN TRIED AND TESTED LAST YEAR. THAT THE PLAYERS BELIEVED IN AND LEAD US TO 4 POINTS BEHIND THE CHAMPIONS. THE SAME CONSISTENT FORMATION AS WELL AS THE SAME 63RD MIN OR SO SUBSTITUTION. COULD IT BE THE ONLY THING THAT HAS CHANGED IS MAINLY OUR CLUMSY DEFENDING AS WELL AS INJURIES. OK YES HES MADE A FEW MISTAKES LIKE EVERY OTHER MANAGER, BUT SHOULD HE BE SACKED WHEN THE TEAM LEFT ON IS GOOD ENOUGH TO WIN?
3. Winning the Champions League four years ago Isn’t enough to make you immune to a sacking.
NO LETS GET THIS WRITE. HE TOOK A TEAM TO THE UEFA CUP FINAL THE SEASON BEFORE HE JOINED LIVERPOOL AND WON IT. THEN WON THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WITH US. THIS HAS NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE. HES OBVIOUSLY GOT SOMETHING. NOT TO MENTION HE GOT US TO THE FINAL 2 YEARS LATER WITH A TOPTALLY DIFFERENT TEAM. HIS TEAM. MAN THATS NO FLUKE. DID I MENTION LIVERPOOL WAS SEEDED NO 1 IN EUROPE AT A PARTICULAR TIME. CAN I REST MY CASE OR SHALL I MENTION WHAT THE GREAT SIR RED NOSE FACE TAGGOT DID IN HIS FIRST 5 YEARS IN CHARGE. YEP JUST THE FA CUP.
4. The club needs a fresh start, that means both at boardroom level AND in the dugout.
NO THE CLUB NEEDS MORE FINANCE FOR PLAYERS AND STADUIM. WE ARE IN THIS TOGETHER. 60 MIL WOULD OF MADE US SERIOUS CHALLENGERS THIS SUMMER BUT WE DONT HAVE IT AND PLAYERS WHO WE WANT TO SELL SEEMS DONT WANT TO LEAVE.
5. Xabi Alonso – The Spaniard had every right to leave Anfield this summer mainly because Rafa made the mistake of being more than happy to sell Xabi the previous summer in favour of an ill fated move for Gareth Barry.
HANG ON A SEC. ALONSO ALONSO ALONSO. HE WAS ALSO THE REASON WE LOST THE TITLE LAST SEASON. HOW MANY TEAMS HAVE EVER WON THE TITLE WHEN THE TWO CENTRAL MIDFIELD PLAYERS SCORE ONLY 3 LEAGUE GOALS ALL SEASON. BARRY MAY LACK IN SOME PARTS BUT AT LEAST HE SCORES MORE THAN 6 A SEASON. HOW WE MISS THOSE GOALS,I WAS ONE FOR WELCOMING HIM. AND IF IM HONEST THE WAY ALONSO PLAYED THE SEASON BEFORE I WOULD OF DROVE HIM TO MADRID MYSELF. OK FAIR PLAY HE WAS GOOD AND CAME BACK FIGHTING BUT HEY WHY A YEAR LATER? CANT JUST BE INJURIES CAN IT?
6. Dependence on El Nino and Stevie G – There is no point in Rafa bleeting on about how we rarely have the use of both world class players in the same match when clearly he should have done better in the transfer market to ensure we didn’t have to depend so much on both of them.
LISTEN MATE BE HAPPY WE HAVE TORRESS. WASNT KUYTE OUR STRIKER BEFORE WE BOUGHT HIM TO IMPROVE OUR TEAM. DONE BETTER IN THE TRANSFER MARKET? PMSL OK FAIR POINT. BUT I ASK HOW MANY BUYS OVER 10 MIL HAVE BEEN POOR? KEANE, BABEL AND MORIENTES.
I THINK EVERYONE HERE WOULD OF BOUGHT THE SAME BUYS EXCEPT BABEL WHO FOR 11 MIL WAS A RISK WORTH TAKING.
RIERA,KUYTE,ARGY MASCH, TORESS,JOHNSON HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFUL TO SOME DEGREE. THE PLAYERS THAT HAVE COME AND GONE HAVE COME AND GONE FULL STOP. ITS THE TEAM NOW THAT COUNTS AND HOW MUCH HES SPENT OR THE DEFICIT AFTER 5 YEARS. WHICH IS 85 MIL. THAT FOR OUR SQUAD WHEN HE COULD SELL TORRESS FOR 60 MIL IS REMARKABLE WITH OR WITHOUT MISTAKES.
OH DID I NOT MENTION THAT RAFA HAS BROUGHT NO LESS THAN 100 MIL OR JUST OVER INTO THE CLUB THROUGH SUCCESS IN EUROPE IN THE LAST FIVE YEARS. SO YOU COULD SAY HES GAINED 15 MIL AND THE SQUAD HE HAS NOW. THATS A FACT.
7. Not enough quality players purchased – If we’re being honest, how many top quality signings can you name under the Rafa regime? £208m spent on players in five years, how many intelligent forays into the transfer market can you name?
SEE MY ANSWER ABOVE . IM NOT IN THE HABIT OF BEING REPETITIVE . WINK WINK.
WE BUY PLAYERS TO AN AVERAGE PRICE OF 10 MIL WHILE UTD AND CHELSEA BUY TO AN AVERAGE PRICE OF 20 MIL. SURELY THEY ARE MEANT TO BE TWICE AS GOOD AS US. MMM 2-0 IS ALL I WILL SAY AND PERHAP ASK YOU WHETHER YOUVE HEARD FROM VERON AT ALL. IM SURE YOU 28.1 MIL FOR HIM IN THOSE DAYS. BUT FACT HE`S NOT WITH YOU NOW. SO I`LL QUOTE BERTY BABY FOR MM 33 MIL. WE ALL GET IT WRONG M8.
8. Substitutions – Why does Rafa never make his replacements until its far far too late. How often have you looked on from the stands to see the subs board come up and then find yourself scratching your head in wonderment.
THATS BULL RAFA NORMALLY MAKES CHANGES IN THE 60TH MIN . EVERYONE KNOWS THAT. 30 MIN FOR IMPACT PLAYER. ALL I CAN SAY IS JUDGE HHIM FROM WHAT HES DONE CONSISTENTLY LAST SEASON AND BEFORE. YEP SOME ERRORES BUT RAFA NOWS HIS PLAYERS MORE THAN WE DO.
9. Blame game – He never takes the blame for a poor result on the pitch, preferring instead to blame injuries and referring errors.
GOD AT LEAST HE DOESNT BLAME THE REF ALL THE TIME LIKE THAT RAT OF A TAGGOT. EVERY MANAGER WANTS THEIR STRONGEST TEAM OUT IN A MATCH AND ITS FAIR TO SAY THAT WHEN THE STRONGEST TEAM IS OUT AND WE LOSE THEN THE MANAGER FACES THE HEAT.
10. We are moving backwards and not forwards – We have fell backwards since the summer in every way possible. Whilst the likes of Man City and Tottenham have improved their squads in the last year, ours has gotten worse. We lie in seventh place and have won one game in nine. It’s time for a change
MOVING BACKWARDS? DONT TALK NONSENSE. ITS THE SAME PLAYERS EXCEPT ALONSO. AND WEVE ADDED A ROMAN AND JOHNSON THE THE SQUAD. ITS A BAD BLIP YES I AGREE, BUT WELL COME OUT OF IT. LIKE UTD DID WHEN THEY CAME 3RD IN THEIR GROUP SOME YEARS BACK AND YEARS LATER MADE 2 FINALS.
LIKE I SAID SOME GOOD POINTS BUT I JUST WANTED TO BALANCE THE BOOKS AS ONE SAYS.
TO SACK RAFA NOW WILL MOVE US 5 YEARS BACK. THATS A FACT. FIRST YOUD NEED 60 MIL TO TEMPT ANOTHER MANAGER TO COME UNLESS YOU JUST WANTY A YANKEE MUPPET TO COME AND DO THE JOB. THEN 20 MIL TO PAY OF RAFA. 80 MIL IN TOTAL.
MMM WAS THIS NOT THE 80 MIL THAT WE NEEDED AT THE BEGINING OF THE SEASON TO BUT DAVID AND SILVA?
OWNERS IOF YOUR LISTENING GIVE THE MONEY TO RAFA YOU CANT GO WRONG. THE LEAST YOU DO IS GET YOUR MONEY BACK.
ULL NEVER WALK ALONE

THE CHOSEN ONE
APOLOGIES FOR SPELLING MISTAKES. IM SO TIRED TODAY AND MESSAGE WAS RUSHED.
anonymous - November 11th, 2009 at 9:37 am
11. Benitez has overseen the development of diving tactics amongst his best players in Gerrard and Torres and is now allowing it to become part of younger players’ games such as N’Gog.
anonymous - December 19th, 2009 at 3:07 pm
liverpool are so much up their own rectums its unbelievable, the last time they won the league most of the current players werent even born, but they still sing on about it,, hee hee liverpool should be showing their matches on the ” history channel”… and by the way liverpool has to be the most over rated team in europe,,,,,
anonymous - December 19th, 2009 at 3:10 pm
agree 100% mate, all scouse supporters think liverpool are top notch team when clearly they aint. you cant live in the past forever hahahahaha. sack that spanish waiter of a manager hes bled you lot dry for 5 years now
anonymous - December 20th, 2009 at 1:21 am
i dont know why he sold xabi alonso cause i think he was the best playmaking for liverpool
anonymous - December 22nd, 2009 at 12:48 pm
Go away Mr. Benitez! You are not good enough. Maybe some might say two cups in 5 years is great but for me that’s mediocre performance.
anonymous - January 14th, 2010 at 12:27 pm
PLEASE SACK RAFA
