Manchester United winger Nani has revealed just how tough life can be under Sir Alex Ferguson.
In an in-depth interview with Portuguese newspaper ‘I’ – the United flyer reveals how quickly Ferguson can turn.
But he admits that Ferguson does not just pick on certain players and that United legends Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville are often on the end of his tirades.
“Ferguson is a very complicated man,” he stated.
“He’s tough. If things are all right, then they are all right. But when he thinks something is wrong, everything is screwed.
“He can go from complimenting you to just plain trashing you in a matter of minutes. Has it happened to me? Hell, yes! He’ll say ‘Nani, how could you miss this or this’?”
“He shouts at players in front of everyone. No one escapes, everybody is the same. Giggs and Neville suffer most, because they have more experience. It is ‘F**k’ here and ‘F**k’ there.”
And in what could rile Ferguson more than anything, Nani agreed with the interviewer that he was being a little ‘mismanaged’ by United.
“I think so, but there is still a long way in the championship remaining, but I did not play the important matches, against Liverpool, Manchester City or Tottenham,” he said.
“Not playing these games, I am a bit sad – but I also played with an injury so let’s see if things improve.
“People expect more from me and it’s not easy. But they are also not doing what they said they were going to.
“I know it would be better if I scored more goals.
“I can have a spectacular game but nobody guarantees me I will be starting the next match. It shatters your confidence.”
Despite some negative comments, Nani insisted he was not looking to leave Old Trafford.
“No, no,” he said. “I don’t even think about that.” (Sky Sports)
When Brazilian midfielder Anderson had his spat with Sir Alex a couple of months ago and he threw out all the toys from his pram I could kind of understand where he was coming from, he was performing well in his first season and his form dipped last term but he had the potential and was proving his ability more often than not. Ferguson recognised his efforts and I think the wily Scot in some ways agreed to some extent as to where the youngster was coming from and since then he has had much more of a look in with regards to the first team.
Nani on the other hand is entirely different kettle of fish. The Portuguese winger has consistently failed to deliver and for every little bit of magic that he manages to pull off there are countless poor crosses, incredible greediness and the ability to simply disappear from matches. In short, Anderson had earned the right to make a stand against the Man United boss, Nani hasn’t even come close.
He may well have a lot to live up to but that’s no excuse for the patchy form the 22 year old has displayed. He has to be fair done better when called upon this season but he risks being overtaken by new boy Gabriel Obertan and quite frankly his latest outburst will only scupper his career at Old Trafford rather than help him make a name for himself.
In just under two and half years the former Sporting Lisbon man has taken part in 84 matches for the club and I would suggest that the occasions he has truly proved himself worthy could be counted on the fingers of two hands tops.
In short, it’s time for Nani to stop complaining and start performing otherwise I don’t think the gaffer would lose any sleep over offloading the winger, after all he has let far more accomplished players leave the club after he had falling out with them. Oh yes and Nani, if you were aghast at the repeated profanities on the training ground expect to hear a lot more of the F words aimed at you following your misjudged and naive comments.

100% spot on. Couldn’t agree with you more. Nani is a showpony and one we can do without. Bring on Obertan, he has shown more potential in his brief United career than Nani has in two years, also the Frenchman looks like he likes to pass the ball to teammates!

A little harsh… I’m not a big fan of Nani in the slightest, but I think he’s actaully reasonably balanced in that interview. @dboy

Well said, let him stop complaining and produce a mesmerizing performance that would leave the likes of Obertan wondering why they signed for MAN U. As things stand now Obertan should take a claim of the position so that he can look for nearest exit. When the manager gives 84 matches and you don’t take a claim of the position then what else would a manager do to you? come and put his hands around your shoulders and tell you son your are doing well? He should know that even with clubs with very little pressure they would not offer him that kind of opportunities because even smaller clubs have priorities to go for, if not Champions league then it UEFA cup, if not UEFA cup then it is intertoto to UEFA cup and if not all these then it is relegation battle.

Nani should leave! United is not the club for him, Sr. A. F is not the right manager to help Nani grow to be a better player.
I do not think you should say that he needs to start preforming, it is not easy for him. He thought that he would be in the first 11, but he has’nt got that much playtime…

He’s clearly saying this because he wants to move and as soon as possible – he wants to play regularly before the world cup should Portugal qualify.
He wants to annoy Sir Alex so he gets his wish.

I agree, United is not the place for Nani. He is far too talented to be put in a position where he does not start on a regular basis. SAF is not the right manager for his talents. You see no consistency in the United starting 11. I believe that Nani would do well in La Liga. Keep your head up Nani. You need a good run of games in order for you to be consistent and SAF is not willing to invest in you. Keep your head up.

You guys have no clue what your speaking about..tipical english view on players. He is a player no english national team has ever had skillwise. Only rooney matches him in this respect. He is extremely young but yet has everything, He has skill, speed, drible and good cross on him. Unlike that person that said he cant cross the ball. If he didnt know how to cross it, do you really think alex ferguson would put him hitting corners?????and free kicks????? guys wake up..i dont miss manus games..and u would be surprised to see how many goals come of his crosses….if he wasnt good enough alex ferguson would have sent him away along time ago…compare him with obertan??comon guys nani is way ahead of obertan…obertan has no influence in the game…but he too is still young and is a good player ..as he showed for france u 21 national team.
