Arsenal Want £7m Spanish Starlet After Securing Merida and Vela Deals

We are reportedly now looking at snapping up yet another one of Catalan giants top notch youngsters just days after being linked with Israeli teenager Gai Assulin we are now supposedly interested in Jeffren Suarez, Barcelona’s 21 year old winger. This comes at a time when it appears we have persuaded Fran Merida and Carlos Vela that their futures lie at the Emirates, which is good news indeed.
Quite where the speculation relating to the La Liga sides academy graduates has come from I am not sure, but it is fairly rare for Arsenal to take players such as Jeffren from clubs when they are already very much part of the first team picture. We do tend to scout our players far earlier than that and therefore avoid having to pay large sums of money and can therefore mould the players in their formative years rather than taking a player who is already part of a club’s furniture so to speak.
Jeffren is a quality performer who has risen through the ranks at both club and country and appears to be about to break through at the Camp Nou as Pepe Guardiola attempts to blood his latest generation of talent. The £7m rated Venezuelan has been capped at Under 21 level for Spain and is on the fringes of the senior set up and has a bright future but I just don’t see that future being with us.
It is however good to see fellow Spaniard Fran Merida commit himself to the club and I think he knows that at the club under Arsene Wenger he stands the best chance of progressing from youthful talent to the finished article.

Agreed. It seems unlikely we will go for a fully fledged first teamer like Jeffren but I can see us trying to snap up Assulin. Good that we got Merida to sign, i was worried he would aim for a move back to La Liga.

Did Merida really sign? I know Vela did, but I haven’t heard anything about Merida.

Both have yet to sign, although Vela’s case seems more straight forward as the club has already agreed a deal with his agent and only awaiting Vela’s signture. Merida’s contract has gone uncomfortably quiet…

Why can’t arsenal produce their own tallent and stop stealing other clubs kids ? I know that any of these playes would jump at the chance to move back to the mighty Barca but we can only play 11 and it’s not right that arsenal should be able to steal our players.Go and try to train your own, it’s no wonder arsenal are called a poor man’s Barca we rared half the team captain too. And another thing to all arsenal fans stop worrieing that we are going to take Cesc home in the summer Xavi has at least 3 good years left in him yey can have him till then at least just don’t get him too used to mediocrity please and win something already for christ sake.

have you thought that this is just Arsene doing what Barca does to us. This is just letting Barca know that if you want Cesc as all your consistant tapping up would suggest you do want him………….then Arsene is letting Pep know that it will cost him big money to get Cesc back in addition to Pep losing all of his promising young starlets. This is just a game of chess being played out in the media. I feel none of this speculation will come to fruition. It is just a broadside at all the tapping up Barca constantly put out there. Arsene is just saying. If you go for Cesc. We will go for your entire academy and part of your fortune. If you want to take our clubs future then we will take your clubs future.
It is a gentlemans way (Wengers way) of saying F*#k Off Barca!

Arsenal have a dual development approach, they bring in kids starting at age 11-12 and grow them in their academy AND they recruit kids from other youth setups. So what’s the problem? Real Madrid and Barca buyout international players they target and harass both the teams and the players until they get them or they have reduced their targets to tears. This is the future….every EPL team that can afford to will do both and the Real’s, Barca’s AC milans, Man U’s, Chelskis, Citeh’s and company are far more ferocious and aggressive than Arsenal in pursuing and hooking their prey. Wenger and the Board have committed the club to a long term, youth oriented philosophy and to filling in the gaps with experienced but undiscovered diamonds in the rough (Henry,Bergkamp,Viera, Vermaelen, Toure, etc., etc.) who turn into superstars and have a very successful career with Arsenal. Any idiot who complains about this is simply stupid, ignorant about Football management and jealous since the clubs they support are unable or unwilling to do the same. Wake up and appreciate the excellent management and planning that Arsenal enjoy and pray that someday your club can learn to do the same.

Barca fan, your club stealed players like Messi, Jeffren, Jonathan, Pedro and Giovanni… Stop thinking you are saints. Barca supporters like to bash Madrid for the way they get their players but Barca are not better than Madrid. In fact I think they are worse because of the hipocrisy . And if you think Arsenal is not worthy then stop buying our players (Petit, Van Bronkhorst, Sylvinho, Hleb, Henry, Overmars). And don’t brag about the Champions League title, just say thanks to Tom Henning.
