The news doing the rounds over the weekend involved the reported interest shown by Liverpool in our top notch striker Eduardo and for some reason the miserly sum of £10m was repeatedly mentioned, which is probably only sufficient to purchase one of his legs and not the rest of his body.
The Cro-zillian is a fantastic instinctive striker who when fully fit is a 20 goal a season striker at the very least and I can understand why Rafa Benitez is sniffing around but surely any such move will get short shrift from Arsene Wenger and I don’t see Eduardo being interested in such a move when he knows that when he is firing on all cylinders he is a starter at the Emirates alongside Robin Van Persie.
Given that RVP has now gotten himself injured on friendly duty with Holland, how annoying is that by the way, even more weight is now placed on the 26 year old’s shoulders. Because of that horrific tackle from Birmingham City defender Martin Taylor and the subsequent niggling injuries he has collected since his return from that assault, he has managed just 16 Premier League starts in almost two and a half years, however he still shows the signs of a striker who is lethal when in on goal.
I can see why Liverpool would want him given the paucity of options the Merseyside outfit has up front but they may well be barking up the wrong tree with this one. They were also recently linked with a move for Carlton Cole and they may have more luck with that purchase although West Ham reportedly want somewhere in the region of £20m for the England man, which by my reckoning would make Eduardo worth somewhere in the region of £30m, at least!

Agreed. If Carlton Cole is valued at 20m then Eduardo is worth about a billion pounds. Stay away Liverpool!

£10 milion is a joke. We bought him for that price.
I have an excellent idea. We give YOU £10 million and Eduardo. You give us Torres.
How about that!!!
MUGS!!!

He would cost more than £10m but isn’t worth more. Nemeth will be 10 times the player.
kermit - November 16th, 2009 at 11:23 am
keep eduardo he is a class finisher but he is weak
anonymous - November 16th, 2009 at 11:58 am
he indeed is a good striker but I think arsenal wont let him go. Moreover i think rafa is looking for a tall striker like torres..
anonymous - November 16th, 2009 at 12:13 pm
it doesn’t make any sense cos anyone in his right senses will know Prof won’t sell Eduardo, at least not now and NEVER for that price.
anonymous - November 16th, 2009 at 12:15 pm
Not gonna happen…. If it does, its great!!!!!
anonymous - November 16th, 2009 at 12:19 pm
Well Eduardo has 18 months left in contract; while Cole has 54…I think; tht is the reason of high price.. I dont think Eduardo is much better than cole..
And U may get Torres for Eduardo + 10 BILLION..

i was thining about carlton cole last night and while i am not sure how he could work with torres, i did think that he is very good at the one thing torres is not good at, holding the ball up and bringing midfielders into play, depend on the price and his expectations of a guaranteed starting place
kermit - November 16th, 2009 at 1:09 pm
torres is crap as a target man, i think we ought to have signed a centre forward along the lines of venegoor of hesselink, not him but someon elike for the last fifteen mins of games when we are behind, someone wwe can fuck the ball at in times of desperation, who wouldnt expect a starting place, wouldnt command a massive salary, but could ultimately be very effective
just for times of desperationten mins left a goal down running out of ideas, a target man centre forward is always a good option, think this is why rafa is often seemingly interested in zigic from valencia
thoughts on this idea??

anonymous - November 16th, 2009 at 2:12 pm
twice the amout of ronaldo? ARE U STUPID? Torres is good, but not that good !
såååååååårrri, + we don’t want torres!
Retryboy - November 16th, 2009 at 2:19 pm
If we picked a decent more attacking team kermit we wouldn’t have those desperation times well not every game anyway. When the other top teams need a goal everyone pushes up when we need a goal
Rafa swaps a couple of wingers around the system doesn’t change though.

kermit - November 16th, 2009 at 3:50 pm

When crouch was here we used to do that for 90 minutes, hoof it long. Know what you mean though would be good to have crouch as an option on the bench. He is happy to be on the bench at spurs because they play 2 strikers he will always get games. We play one and he is the best in the world so its always gonna be hard for other strikers to take because its not if they get a chance, take it and stay in the team no matter what they did they couldn’t oust torres.
