So reportedly this is how the kerfuffle following the first leg of the Play-Off between France and Ireland broke out at the final whistle. Keith Andrews was about to slump to the floor in the knowledge that overturning a one goal deficit back in France is a tough thing to do. Along comes Lassana Diarra and rather than come over to offer him a handshake he reportedly said the following.
“F*** off, Irish p****. You are out.”
Charming. And if you watch the video below you can see how this may well be a fair account of what occurred. For instance note that when the Irish players take offence the French players don’t react in an angry manner as they seem to understand what is happening and just try to diffuse the situation, which is lucky as otherwise this whole thing could have gotten out of hand.
