Former Manchester United defender Gerard Pique believes Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas will eventually return to European champions Barcelona and not join arch-rivals Real Madrid.
Fabregas has been in inspirational form for Arsenal in 2009/10, scoring nine goals in his 15 appearances, leading to renewed speculation that the 22-year-old will move back to Spain next summer.
The Spanish international, who has made 46 appearances for his country, has continually denied talk of him departing the Emirates Stadium.
However, fellow countryman Pique is convinced Fabregas, who joined the Gunners in 2003 from the Catalan club, will team up with him at the Camp Nou in the not-too-distant future.
“Cesc will end up wearing the Blaugrana shirt one day, I’ve always said that,” he said in Sport.
“I’m sure that the canterano class of ’87 will find themselves together. Cesc prefers to keep his opinion to himself.”
Barca’s fierce rivals Real have also been linked with the Arsenal star, but Pique laughed off the idea.
“I’d hate to see him at Real Madrid and I don’t think it will happen,” he said.
“In football, you can’t use the word impossible, but I don’t believe it will occur.” (Four Four Two)
I mean seriously this is just scandalous. For a player to come out and make a statement such as this is just unbelievable. Its so blatant its almost beyond belief. I know Gerard Pique is a former Man United player but surely that’s no excuse for this level of idiocy and underhandedness?
You would have thought that UEFA would now have a dossier of such attempts Barcelona have made to unsettle Cesc and if any British club had acted in such a manner at the very least that club would be fined but nothing is done because Michel Platini will never act against the golden trio or France, Italy or Spain whereas if a British club we wouldn’t hear the end of it.
Ridiculous!

More scandalous than poaching the player from Barca, in the first place?…Come on, Gooners need to get over it…It’s hardly tapping up when he’s a Barca product to begin with
It’s inevitable, he’ll be coming home soon enough

Vete a tomar por el culo.

Barca scum won’t give up. They are shameless. I loathe Barcelona as they always try to publicly unsettle players, then they dare to portray themselves as the honest and humble club in contrast to the tapping up, mass spending of Real Madrid. They are worse. I can’t no longer tolerate their ‘holier than thou’ bullshit. What a bunch of hypocrites!

Not like our players have ever done anything similar is it – including Cesc. I doubt Cesc is unsettled by quite harmless quotes
Arsenal midfielder, Cesc Fabregas has urged Arsenal to sign Liverpool’s Xabi Alonso and says that Arsene Wenger’s squad needs just one additional central midfielder. “We need someone in the middle to make competition and make a difference, plus give us a new dimension,” said Fabregas.
“I think that is all we need. The rest is perfect. Xabi would be great. He’s experienced and can score goals. I’m sure the boss is aware of that fact.” Alonso, who has attracted the interest of Real Madrid, was expected to join Arsenal last year to free up money for Gareth Barry but has enjoyed an excellent season, with Rafael Benitez insistent that he does not intend to lose the Spain midfielder.

I doubt that people know what tapping up means. If so, please explain how this represents Barcelona discussing contractual/financial information without the players current clubs involvement.

Arsenal stole Cesc and Merida from Barca. English clubs in general steal youth players before they are eligible to sign pro terms in Italy, Spain and France. Stop being whinging poms especially when there is nothing to whinge about.
This is not tapping up.

Reading this article is kinda weird, especially as an arsenal supporter.
The irony is that we did pull a fast one on barca with fabregas, and that is probably why Wenger doesn’t respond to speculation on Cesc besides “cesc remains an arsenal player” and “cesc is as valuable to us as lionel messi is to barca, not for sale.”
The main problem with tapping-up, in the first place, is that the interested club unsettles the player, and thus making life unfair for the owning club of the player. Although Cesc at 16 yrs old wasn’t contracted, and so we never “tapped-up”, we did indeed ‘poach’ him, because Barca were not able to offer him a contract, and in that sense Barca was harshly done by. So we didn’t tap him up, but we were unfair in our dealings, as we just bypassed Barca and went straight to fabregas.
Cesc is a world-class player, and any professional footballer would want him in their team. I’m just happy to ignore all the speculation, cos i think i’d end up red-faced on this one, and i suspect that our manager shares the same thoughts as me. Either way, i hope cesc remains a gunner for life.

We all know Platini is a spinless tw@t whose sole aim is to ruin English football. How can a bigotted idiot like this be given such a major role in European football!!
As for Barcelona, just remeber all the Arsenal stars who have gone there and failed Fabregas. The grass isn’t greener by a long shot!!!

Rubbishy talks from Pique…Just ignore it…^^
anonymous - November 17th, 2009 at 11:46 am
its all true, farbregas has spoken to numerous people in private stating his wish to go back to Barca. Arsenal can have no complaints becuase they will make a good profit from a player they did exactly the same with years ago, the difference Arsenal tap up 16 year old kids whereas Barca do it with proper players. Get over it.

You stupid Barca fans or whoever you support got to be the stupidest fucks in the world! How the fuck did we tap Cesc up when they all said we got him the LEGAL WAY YOU STUPID STALE CUNTS!! We hear this shit all the time from players like Xavi, Pique and Iniesta and even from the board of directors. They are all full of shit! Every Arsenal fan knows Cesc will go back to Barcelona. Do you think it will be a surprise to us??? We all know! What is annoying is they do it nearly every single fucking week! Don’t talk stupid shit about we tapped him up when he was 16. It was all done legally you pieces of shit. I could easily say Barca tapped up Messi when he was just a kid. Go choke on a pair of bollocks you stupid twats!

Barca fans are really showing their class. Just like their club, spineless, classless bunch of ars*holes.
How did we steal Cesc exactly? Barca werent going to offer him a contract because he was too ’small’. You had your chance and you lost it. Im sure if you wanted him then you would have kept him, so f*ck off with this ‘Arsenal stole him cr*p for once and for all. Now you realise you fucked up and trying illegal and immoral approaches to tap him up. He wont come to Barca becauase he can see what happened to his good mate Hleb. Besides, why would he leave the team with the greatest potential anyone in football has ever seen. This squad will stay together and will be greater than your Barca within the next few seasons. This is an exciting time to be a gooner, get over your petty jealousy.
anonymous - November 17th, 2009 at 3:02 pm
Arsenal fans, for sure the most hypocrite fans in the world. Just piss off arse!

Haha, what a joke! Yes, you stole him because you went directly to his parents and not the club. It’s a lie when you’re claimin Barca didn’t want him.
You kidnapped and stole Fran Merida as well. He was hidden for several months so that Barca couldn’t speak to him. He had signed a pre-contract with the club and had an obligation to sign a new contract.
So fuck off you self-righteous hypocritical Arse-fans.

What about Jeffren, Pedro, Messi, Giovanni, Jonathan? And Aneke and Afobe, Barca scum? Get your ‘holier than thou’ attitude and shove it up your ass, you self-important deluded fools. Barcelona the most hypocrite club in the world. Clubs qualified for the next Champions League phase: Internazionale and Rubin Kazan .Visca Rubin Kazan !

Altho I love watching barca, I have more respect for Madrid. Atleast they cone out and make a serious bid instead of getting their players to talk garbage .. Catalan scum ..
anonymous - November 17th, 2009 at 9:04 pm
Silly gooners…You can all argue amongst yourselves and recount stories of once when Cesc captained your club while enjoying his successes afar on the Barca pitch
He’s a Barca player, consider it a very profitable loan you have enjoyed…Shame no titles were won during that time
anonymous - November 17th, 2009 at 9:06 pm
Suuuure, RM are class acts…They never unsettled Cristiano at ManYoo who never had any association with the club…yet Barca wants their own player back and they’re deemed scum…Love the myopia of the British and their fans
anonymous - November 17th, 2009 at 10:12 pm
If you want ‘ your player ‘ back then act in a proper manner instead of having scums like Xavi and Pique speaking bullcrap to the press every single fucking week as a way to unsettle Fabregas.
anonymous - November 18th, 2009 at 4:05 am
It’s nothing new, over the summer we at Liverpool had to hear Messi at every press conference whining that Mascherano would be a great player for Barcelona. Having said that i remember Fabregas also saying that he would like to have Alonso at Arsenal, Gerrard said he would love to have Barry at Liverpool and we also had Torres saying we should buy either Silva, Villa or Mata. A lot of players tell the press who they would love to have in their team, like I said it’s nothing new. Real on the other hand use different tactics, they use the press via the manager and president, put in a low offer, unsettle the player, say they wont pay more and thus forcing the player to hand in a transfer request and in turn force the selling club to part with the player. This will continue until UEFA or FIFA say that naming a player from another club to the press as being a target is not allowed.
anonymous - November 18th, 2009 at 1:50 pm
Real Madrid are just as bad as Barca for tapping up players, they did it with Ronaldo. How that Prat Platini and his gang let this go on year after year is a scandal. If it was Arsenal or Man U behaving in this way they would be fined
anonymous - November 18th, 2009 at 4:23 pm
GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.
Wenger did this very thing to get Cesc away from la Masia in the first place.
All you gooners are such hypocrits it makes me sick. Don’t Barcelona’s cradle and then claim him as “your product.”
If it weren’t for Barca’s academy you wouldn’t even have him as your captain. He’ll be back in the Blaugrana soon enough, especially if you go trophiless.
anonymous - November 20th, 2009 at 4:26 pm
Isn’t it nice to see the two most fake clubs in world football pissin each other off!!
anonymous - November 27th, 2009 at 2:06 pm
No thx, we don’t need a unloyal player like fabregas, we should give gio dos santos and thiago alcantara a chance, seeing as they have more loyalty in their pink finger than fabregas has in his whole body and plus they are huge prospect for barca…. So let fabregas stay in barcelona b(arsenal) and win nothing(maybe a curling cup or fa cup) while the loyal player will win everything in barca…
