Steve Bruce wants to get rid of Anton Ferdinand, with ‘Arry Redknapp keen to launch £6m rescue bid”. Bruce said: “I don’t want a huge squad” (Guardian)
Quite why we would make a move for the former West Ham man is beyond me and I hope to high heaven it doesn’t happen. Yes of course we have long standing issues with injury prone centre backs with Ledley King, Jonathan Woodgate and Michael Dawson all to often sidelined with some ailment or other, but the idea of making a move for Rio’s less talented sibling doesn’t fill me with anything other than dread.
The Sunderland man is by no means the worst defender in the Premier League, we saw most of them in the Wigan side on Sunday, but he is average at best and even though clearly Harry has an affinity with his former Upton Park charge I hope to god this is just idle speculation.
If all is well and good in terms of knocks and niggles we have a pretty solid cast of centre backs at the club and whilst I would love to see perhaps one more brought in when the transfer window reopens, I do hope that the player arriving is not the uglier of the two Ferdinand brothers.

Last night on Radio 5, Harry was interviwed by Motty and the subject of transfers came up. Harry stated (as he would) that he doesn’t feel that we need to sign anyone and that the squad is good enough for what he needs. He did say that if a big offer came in for Pav, the chairman might accept it!
This is the usual media hype about ex Wet Spam players that Harry gets linked with. After all he played for WH and managed them, so it must be true. Muppets.

Alex tenpow thinks its all agent talk druming up a move in the new year, Arry would’nt sign worse players than we have (dawson, bale). You can hardly put Daws alongside Ledley and Woodgate when it comes to injuries. He’s only had an achilles problem, a hamstring problem and then his migraines, which is hardly an injury, which have caused him to miss long periods.
