Now the dust has settled on our fabulous rout of Wigan, DVD Now available, we can return to the business of being linked with at least 17 footballers per day, the latest of which is a certain Nigel Reo-Coker who has had enough of life at Aston Villa.
Being a former West Ham man he is therefore invariably linked with a move to rejoin Harry Redknapp and given that our esteemed boss feels we need more options in the centre of the midfield I guess some bored journo put two and two together and got five. The former England Under 21 captain is tired of a) not playing regularly and b) when he is selected played out of position. I don’t see him coming to White Hart Lane, he is a decent player but really not sure he would be any happier warming a bench in north London than he is doing so in Birmingham.
This brings us neatly to Melvin Valladeres the 25 year old Honduran who impressed during his two week trial and is now back home waiting for a phone call that may or may not be gladly received. Not sure we will pursue the matter on Melvin, but at least he got to spend a couple of weeks with Wilson, but given that we have four international level strikers to call upon I don’t see there is any urgency in making such a move.
Apparently however we are keen on any number of Stuttgart players who may or may not take our fancy.
“Even for us, in the German league it isn’t easy to hold on to our star players,” he said.
“I know for sure every week we play, Manchester United, Tottenham and other English clubs are watching our games” – Markus Babbel Stuttgart Boss (Four Four Two)
In other news Roman Pavlyuchenko is just itching to leave the club, so the red tops keep telling us, but as yet no one club has come forward with an offer sufficient to make Harry consider allowing the Russian to leave. Its only a matter of time, and I think we are all in agreement that its a little sad that the former Spartak Moscow man hasn’t managed to get things going, right player but wrong time perhaps?
