Sevilla’s winger Diego Perotti could be part of the answer, with Arsenal ready to test his £20m buyout clause. Toulouse striker André-Pierre Gignac is also in Wenger’s sights, as is Bordeaux’s Marouane Chamakh. Sounds like a spree. (Guardian)
There are some who believe that this season could be a crucial one for Arsene Wenger. After four seasons without silverware the Arsenal boss apparently needs to capture a significant piece of silverware to keep his job. Such speculation seems absurd given all that the Frenchman has achieved at the club but given the masses of players linked with a move to the Emirates perhaps the Gunners boss is looking to bring in some new blood to help in his pursuit of success.
Marouane Chamakh has been strongly linked with a move to the north London club and will be available for nothing come the summer but Arsene may want to make certain of snapping up the Moroccan in January by offering Bordeaux a small nominal fee. Andre-Pierre Gignac is a player that greatly impresses me. The big bulky 23 year old has been a big success since his move from Lorient to Toulouse and last season finished as the top scorer in Ligue 1 by a mile and went on to earn an international call up and hasn’t looked back since.
Both strikers would be useful additions at the north London club but perhaps Gignac would suit the Premier League far better than Chamakh and in my view would be a very smart purchase.
21 year old Argentine international left winger Perotti is a relatively new player on the Wenger radar but one who has great potential but perhaps Arsenal have enough options in his position to negate a need to dig deep for the Sevilla player.

We definitely need a striker but even more importantly… Prof… Plzzz… Sell Almunia n buy a good proven commanding goolkeeper for t love of god… We’ll never win silverware until we get rid of almunia…
Look at some of at good defences in t world… Its built around extraordinary goalkeepers… for instance… t italian international squad has buffon… chelsea has some1 like cech… Manu hav van der saar…
These goalkeepers r so good that they can manage to negate t disadvantage of having a bad defence… But t converse is never true… even t best of defenders look lousy if they hav an idiot like almunia as t goalkeeper…
Sell him n get a good goalkeeper … atleast we can look forward to t premiership title next season (we’ll not win it this season until chelsea decide tat its gettin a lil too borin n start throwin away games just to make t title chase more interestin)

I agree about Almunia.
He’s had every opportunity, but has proven again and again he’s not a top class keeper.
He is the weakest link.
Goodbye, Manuel…

Vito Mannone is a better keeper than Almunia… He is the reason Arsenal won against Fulham.. Fabianski is the worst keeper in Arsenal squad…

I would love to see Gignac at the Emirates. Good size to him, which is what we need. Eduardo and Vela won’t last the next few months.
Would love to see another quality CB to compete with Gallas (neither Sendoros nor Silvestre can fill the starting lineup), or a more established DM to compete with Song.

Oh, and if you all don’t know, we have some quality keepers coming up through the ranks. Wojciech Szcz?sny is known to be the most talented, but i believe he’s 18 and on loan to a Championship team.
He’s rated more highly than both Fabianski and Mannone (and obviously the Spaniard).

I think chamakh would fit nicely with the arsenal system: unselfish, hard worker. As for almunia, get rid of him. Bring in Lloris from Lyon, or maybe Mandanda from Marseille. Wedefs need backup up front; wen Van Persie gets injured we have no depth. Bendtner is rubbish, vela more of a winger and eduardo not rite for arsenal. As for Gignac, too much of an individual. No team player. Maybe Bafetimnbi Gomis from Lyon? Check him out on youtube: fast, huge, unselfish, young, goalscorer and creates assists. Check out his brace vs Anderlecht in CL qualifying: class.

Ochoa, Neuer, Adler, Akinfeev, Asenjo. There’s tonnes of awesome young goalies around the world that would cost very little, so why must we put up with trash like almunia and fabianski week in week out. And how about shelling out a bit of coin to buy a decent striker. If Dzeko does become available the Gunners would be idiots not to try and snap him up.

Traore and Alumina are not good enough. Why is Wenger not playing Silvestre in the left back position and give Manone more playing opportunity. We also need one more striker and a strong defensive MD to partner Song.

Silvestre at left back is a joke! If Armand Traore cannot deal with the pace of Shaun Wright-Phillips then Silvestre definitely cant!

Well Gallas is leaving arsenal by the January transfer or summer transfer window, they need to get clichy back he ran that left side. And Inter needs to let go of Boretelli so that Wenger can grab him… He is a pretty solid player!

Vela and Eduardo are great players (especially are offensive mids or support strikers) so we cannot judge based on their recent play. Eduardo needs to get his rythm and confidence back but will be ok in a few weeks (if he does not reinjure himself…).
We definitely need a player for each position: GK (urgent as how many saves have you seen Almunia make? Any mistake from the defense is punished cash…Akinfeev, Frey, Lloris would be great); Defense to cover the injury or suspension of our Gallas or V: Defensive mid (only one player that fits that role – Song); physical striker (Dzeko would be ideal but seems to prefer Milan and would be very expensive! Chamakh would not score much but would create gazillion opportunities to our support strikers and offensive mids as he such a hard worker and has great ups for headers)

Whoever suggested we need a defensive midfielder to partner Song, get out. Look at Liverpool – two defensive midfileders does not work, fact. We need a new keeper coz Almunia is about as useful as a chocolate fireguard. Shay Given or Sebastian Frey would me my choices. Left back is filled nicely by Clichy or Gibbs we just need them both to be fit. Vermaelen and Galls is the greatest partnership ever, everyone makes mistakes theirs are just more obvious because Almunia is in goal. Vela was destroying Lescott and Toure in the Carling Cup game – keep him, he’ll be good. Eduardo is struggling since his horrific injury, he will probably find his form again but is unreliable at the moment. We should sign a striker even if it is just to cover Van P being injured, someone that can score goals and hold his own against physical defenders such as Terry and Caragher. Midfield is fine in my opinion and so are the forward winger positions (Nasri, walcott, Arshavin, Rosicky, etc.) JUST BUY A NEW KEEPER DAMNIT /BEG

Buying APG would be a good move because it will give us a physical presence up front which we desperately need to compliment the finesse of our wingers, and it would be a big-time help since RvP is out for a while. In the off season we can sign Chamakh for free and we’ll finally have a decent striking trio, all players bringing a different method of scoring. 100% a good move, just a matter of $$$ whether or not it can happen.
This is probably are biggest issue right now, they can address the DM or GK positions in the offseason.

Sell Almunia, that’s 100% clear.
His subtitution ?
1. Akinfeev 2. Neuer 3. Asenjo
We have to keep Sagna, he can’t leave the Club in January.
Gallas – Vermaelen is the best partnership in the last 5 years in the Premier League !
Clichy is good, and his subtitution Gibbs is fine.
For Song we have to find a doublure, maybe a loan of Patrick Viera ?
We have Walcott – Fabregas – Nasri – Arshavin, I think this is one of the best sattacking midfields in Europe!
But our attack, without Robin, it’s nothing.
in January we should buy: 1. Dzeko 2. Chamakh 3. Gignac
So, the line-up:
Akinfeev
Sagna Gallas Vermaelen Clichy
Song
Walcott Fabregas Nasri
Arshavin
Dzeko
