It doesn’t matter how badly we need a goal rafa won’t play 2 up front said before the game ngog and kuyt together would work. Kuyt isn’t fast enough for the lone striker role how many times does rafa have to see that before he learns? Ngog isn’t physically developed enough to do it on his own if we can see it why can’t rafa!! Not one thing changes in his system ever 2 holding midfielders against anyone is unnecessary, against Blackburn its ridiculous and when you need a goal and have a £20m man on the bench capable of getting you that its pathetic. How can you play 1 striker and he drops back into midfield as does gerrard when we don’t have the ball. Times in the first half we ended up with 4-6-0 formation. If it wasn’t for reina this season we would probably be in the bottom half of the league. Whats Rafa’s excuse now then? Because he can’t blame injuries.

Should of won this game easily but it never happened. plyng Kuyt as lone striker was not a good desicion as he lacks pace……we nee a striker and a right winger FAST!

Suarez and Elia.
playing lucas OR mascherano but not both.
Until aquilani plays we need to play 442 kuyt ngog upfront and gerrard and madscherano.
basically never have anyone in the box

The only thing is that every game from here on out will be their BIGGEST game of the season.. ha. They just simply need to win these types of games against a lower class team. Definately need to reinforce in January, but hey what do I know. I definately see Rafa getting the boot next season if the team doesn’t put out..

Why is everything getting moderated! We know kuyt isn’t fast enough for the lone striker role. Its obvious ngog isn’t physically developed enough for it. The 2 together would work. 2 defensive midfielders is totally unnecessary at the best of times against Blackburn its a joke. Rafa needs to go he is incapable of learning and again aquilani sits on the bench the whole game. Rafa’s subs all like for like changing nothing. Never known a more negative manager. He is wasting the talent at his disposal and can’t be allowed to do any more damage could be 15 points off the top at the start of december! This is beyond a crisis and he can’t blame injuries now like he couldn’t for the first 2 months of the season.

Sam… kuyt would be about my 5th choice for RM 1)babel 2)benayoun(better on left) 3)johnson 4)el zhar 5)kuyt you have to pick the formation that suits who we have available not one garbage system for every game no matter what and force the players into roles that don’t suit them. With no balance in with attack and defence, no link between the 2, the players are playing with a ball and chain attached to their ankle. There has been enough quality available to win every game so far this season most of them easily squads not the problem rafa is.

retry boy… i agree 100% today was about grinding out result kudt the most average player i have seen at our club in long time …..sam i agree kudt to slow to play lone striker i think he is to slow for right wing he cant get by full backs they jockey him till he runs out of space and he has to pass backwards.

I said it in my last post that rafa has lost the plot.Liverpool is now an average team in the epl thanks to rafa and his decision.Look it will be easier for carmel to pass to through the eye of a needle than for liverpool to be in the top 4 in epl with rafa. His decisions and lack of leadership intuition has cost 15 point behind the like of chelsea and man u.Aquaman what do you have to say about today’s match against Blackburn and all pro rafa.Pls tell us what is happening how can we rescue liverpool from going under..I will say it now and again rafa is not good enough.I can not seat andwatch liverpool game .Because I am expecting draw or defeat….. this is not spirit of liverpool. It is difficult now for rafa to come up with result…… shame

i seriously doubt anything will change , rafa said he’ll like to introduce aquilani when the team is playing well , but that dont make sense if the team was playing well you wouldnt change it , so i think aquilani will just be a bit part player . he seems to really like lucas and mash in midfield . and its not about injured cause el zar played today just go back from injury.
i dont wanna be too negative but i can see us finishing 6th this season man city just beat chelsea theyve only lost once all season and spurs are looking really good with both teams having better squad depth than us

The americans however much we loth them, they should step in and stop the rot.benitez is anglophobic and racist. He should not be allowed to destroy the English heritage liverpoolfc.Since his war of words liverpool have going backwards. From the outlook even if liverpool sign villa and silva they’ll go nowhere because of rafa’s attitude towards the owners. He’s buying time with the fans but let him know patiency has got limits.People will forget the americans if the results dont change in a couple of weeks.Let rafa join madrid his heart is out there.Live lfc in peace.

Aquaman - December 5th, 2009 at 11:03 pm
Sigh. Really frustrating.
Gerrard was a waste of space again for most of the game. Similar story for Kuyt up front. Riera did nothing, Yossi never got the ball. On the plus side, our defense looked better than usual.
I really think that our attacking players are completely jaded. They’ve had no problems with scoring for most of the season, but as a top side one goal should be enough to win most games. Yet we’ve lost every game that we didn’t score two or more. This lack of reward for goals scored has taken the life out of the players. Finally our defense is starting to look more like themselves, but now our attackers have lost confidence.
It seems to be a classic liverpool problem. We have everything we need, except the right mindset.

You know the worst thing about this? …… You will have people coming on here trying to defend Rafa say things like….” You call yourselves real fans” and “you should support the manager” and of course my favourite…… I’m not a fireman but I know when a house is on fire….. You can not defend the indefensible….
I could say were I think Rafa went wrong but Retryboy as stated it already, and it is the same in most games anyway…..
And again in answer to the……… “You’re not a professional Manager so you can’t judge”…. Seem funny to me that a hell of a lot for ex-Liverpool players have been criticizing Rafa lately and ex- players like Jan Molby have been saying that Rafa need to start playing the youth more. This has to mean something

I may have been mistakened and I can’t remember what was said, I think it was Purslow saying something along the lines of watch us go next season. Hinting loads of money would be available etc. I was left with the impression that this season was going to be a consolidating one and that they didn’t expect too much.
I hope I’m wrong but I get the feeling of the team going through the motions waiting for something next year. Add to that my strong feeling of our key players realising that 2010 will probably be their last chance at the world cup…I don’t know I’d hope Rafa wouldn’t allow that but I really think he’s sold this season for next.
We deserve more.

having watchwed man city fightback aganst chelsea today i am worried about four place, city looked like a team possesed , and whilst we have beaten chelsea before , we have never played them off the park ever, city wered evastating yesterday and anyone who doubted tevez s abilty was duely shut up today, magnificent, if city cntinue to play like that we have no chanc eof fourth spot , and i mean no chance
i was really impressed by city today , passion and driv e and comitment all over the field, they sent a message yesterday not to us about fourth place , but to chelsea that they are a coming force , they havent even gelled as a team yet, and god help the rest of us when they do, they are in my opinion a right winger short of a premiership winning side, and perhaps a def midfielder, barry looks too slow to compete at their level at times, de jong was immense yesterday, and the commitment shown by micah richards was impressive , all round , congratulations to city on a throuoghly deserved victory
i m not even gonna talk about liverpool.

Aquilani is nothing to do with match fitness! “we have mascherano, lucas and gerrard fit the balance is good” Rafa’s own words and he must be the only one that thinks so! Aquaman one goal is never enough in any game only takes a deflection or lapse at the back and you lose the points 2 of the relegated teams last year scored a goal a game. Well if you take out the 5 games at hull, burnley, bolton, stoke and west ham all poor teams and relegation favourites we have scored 17 goals in 17 games all competitions including ngogs dive, mascherano’s deflection and torres individual brilliance created some of those for himself, insuas screamer at arsenal was hardly a carved out opportunity some of the giants in those 17 games debrecen twice, leeds, fulham, birmingham, Blackburn, arsenals kids, injury ravaged Everton We go through game after game without creating any clear cut chances because rafa doesn’t pick the players capable or the tactics to do so. Goals scored- 0(4 games) 1(9 games) 2(4 games) 3(2 games) 4(2 games) 6(1 game) only united and city out of any half decent team we have played have we managed 2 against. By the way out of the 5 games we scored 20 of our goals in 10 came in 2 games with mascherano injured and one holding midfielder the other 10 in 3 games with both torres and gerrard playing and as i said before all against relegation contenders.

you know when you hear people say “i could do what footballers do” well in aquilanis case i really could coz all hes done is sit on the bench lol not hes fault i know but come on……..20 mil and we not seen him yet.
Games like this we should be trashing them not just winning but winning by big margins its getting beyond a joke now, and im finding it harder and harder to defend liverpool when my mates are giving them a verbal kicking in the pub lol

Morning all never made it back yesterday as i had some wounds to lick.
Very dissapointed at they way we played again even in the second half although we were better in the second.
the problem seems to be balance of the side rafa is putting out and as we done for a lot of last year was to show so called lesser teams far too much respect i know its been said in some of the comments above but there is no need for two holding midfielders against blackburn.
If we dropped lucas (hope hope hope) put gerrard in the middle of the park where he dictate the pace and control the game as he can do with ease we can play benny in the hole instead of playing him out wide where imo he is a little light but when he is in the hole no-one can get near him or they just give dangerous free kicks away, dirk does well as a rule when on the right and when johnson is playing it balances the right out as for the left we never really replaced macca so i guess it is riera is the best suited but the main thing is we play players in there position and before you crucify me about dirk i know he is meant to be a forward but he is so busy he is effective on the right so he is the best we have for now up front is anyones guess but my point is even if the players are not world class if the side has balance they will be effective.
For the record this is only untill we see the enigma start playing for us but im not sure we even signed aquilani i think its just a card board cut out sitting on the bench and when the cameras stop filming the just carry it off the pitch lol.

All those fans who stand on the kop singing Rafa’s name are not dong our club any favours.
I vote the next match we all stand and chant for Aquillani until Rafa gets the message!
Whats the betting he plays Aquillani against Fiorantina (reserves) so he looks good and then tries to offload him a la Robbie Keane in Janaury.

I pretty much agree with everyone above Rafa is losing the F***ing plot, its 0-0 you have two defensive mid fielders on the pitch, one crap stricker(kuyt) and a pissed of keeper (reina) and a 20m pound attacking weapon on the bench, i wonder what you should do. its time for changes at this club kuyt nedds to go reira, plessis, degen, kyorgiakos, lucas, aurelio, babel, RAFA, and all the other shit in this club. seriously some of the team selections rafa comes up with, why is that everyone else can see that a certain type of player sucks but rafa seems to love (kuyt, lucas) he is a stubborn asshole what is the chances of him selling kuyt, we could get a very valuble 15m for him. What Rafa should do with his transfers.
Standard charted sponsor money-20m
Carlsberg sponsor money- Roughly 12m
=32m
Player sales-
Mascherano- As good as he is and as much as I like him, he and his wife aren’t happy there, so he could be sold for about 35m.
Riera- 7m
Voronin
Degen-1m
Kuyt- 15m
=90m
So the buying begins,
Bastian Schweinstieger- 10m
Miroslav Klose- 7m
Lukas Podolski- 11m + Voronin
Lorik Cana- 14m
Rafael Van Der Vaart- 7m
And if we are lucky possibly Villa or Ribery but as if they would want to play under benitez, Rafa would play N’gog over villa and kuyt over Ribery. Geez what is happening to this club.
I seriuosly wish i was the manager of this club for the start of next year i would win the league, the euro cup, carling cup, fa cup, euro super cup and every other cup out there after all i can do it on Fifa10.

the only thing stopping liverpool from becoming number 1is their squad and wingers. we cant rely on lucas and ngog who seem to go through the motions. i cannot belive kuyt plays even in the premiership. i honestly think he would struggle in the championship. no need to say rafa out rafa out lads that is just pathetic. as soon as we have a bad season you all jump on the bandwagon like 9 year olds. rafa is a great manager but he is just way to stubborn. by know he must of ralised that kuyt, lucas, ngog etc are just not good enough and that we need a new formation when up against the ‘park the bus teams’. if we have not got rid of at least 5 fringe players by next season and bought at least 3 quality players then i will agree that we need a new manager. we will not win anything when we need squad players to come in and do a job. but you watch us fly when we have our first eleven out. look at the team and if thay can play 20 matches together this season then next season should be great with the addition of two wingers and a centre back.
this team WILL win the premiership. it is balanced and not to defensive. i really think milner would be a great signing and one that rafa would actually think about. he is proven in the premiership and works hard as kuyt but has 100 times more quality than him. im not sure but i think he may also be a liverool fan. i think we need a rock of a defender too. if skrtel gets his act together the he is good enough but i think cahill of bolton or shawcross would be decent signings

isaac hunt – December 6th, 2009 at 1:34 pm…. Then why….
(1) Complain about him playing Kuyt and Lucas if you subscribe to “In Rafa We Trust” ….Then Trust him to know what he is doing
(2) If you disagree with his choices you know that he is doing wrong by continuously picking this player then can’t you see that he is the “Wrong Man For The Job”???
Yes it is a bad season. Everyone knows that. But it is being compounded by bad management on Rafa’s part……
It has little to nothing to do with injured players (If you’re not picking the right player for the right role. Or playing to defensive.)……
Or lack of money to spend in the transfer market (When you buy a £20.5m player then choose to have him sit on the bench) Where does any of that equate to “bad season”????
Surely you can see this?
And admitting to this does not make you any less of a Liverpool supporter
Nothing is more important than the club. And that includes the manager.
Some out there may say that it is not the Liverpool way to treat a manager thus. I would answer it this way…
So we put up with Rafa for another four and a half years and slip further down the table. And when we choose to replace him at the end of his contract; who then wants to take the job????…….
With no Champions league or Europa League football. No Torres (How long would he stay with no CL Football) Gerrard retired. The clubs mounting debt bring us close to administration because we can not count on the monies from the Champions League or the Europa League. We could not build Stanley Park, because of failing to get in to Europe….
Getting more and more like Leeds Utd .I ask you this…
Which Top manager would want to coming and manage LFC?
It would be ok though. Because we stuck by Rafa. The Liverpool way

donavan mate
i am not a supporter of rafa i am a supporter of liverpool football club
it took alex ferguson 5 years to win the league and in 30 odd years he has won the champions league only twice.
rafa has come closer than any other manager in the last 19 years to bringing the title home and has transformed us into a european heavyweight. he could of left for madrid but was loyal. now we have a bad season and you think he is the worst manager we have ever had.
i have different opinions to rafa and everybody knows that he needs to sort his squad out quickly. i know (unlike you and others) that he is definatewly one of the top managers in the world.
what could he have done differently yesterday?
nothing. aquilani musnt be fit or he would play. when will you learn this?
to say that our bad season has nothing to do with injuries is madness. please explain to me!
i admit that rafa has made too many mistakes this season but hopefully he will learn from them. he needs to realise that 2 defensive cm is not working.
i will be happy to have rafa in four and a half seasons as long as he is given enough money and has a much smaller squad with comprtition for places.

Isaac you say trust in Raffa and he might learn from hes mistakes, but he dont learn he moans about money but who has he brought ,,,ok Torres. Would you trust him with your money??? ok we have had injures but how can he moan about the quolaty of players, and the squod of players that ent good enough HE bought them. And yes he has made liverpool a good team in Europe but we wont the leauge and we wont win it with Raffa in charge. If you played for Liverpool and you play your heart out and done well you still would have it in the back of your mind will I be playing next week. There is no consistencey in the team he picks. The players need to play together and bond I whached Chelsea yesterday ok they lost but they dont stop thinking they can win, and the togetherness was there to see, we have lost that, no flouancey no craft no bite no nothing..

torres
mascherano
agger
reina
alonso
johnson
not bad if you ask me. all of those players would get in any premier league team.
you have also read my posts wrong. i dont agree with everything rafa does and do think some things that he does are just stupid. the squad isnt good enough (you expertley pointed that out) but all that i am saying is that rafa can win us he league if he changes a few things. if you read my last post properly then you would of realised that.

Aquaman sorry wasn’t ranting at you m8 was infuriated at the way rafa pulls the wool over fans eyes. He tries saying we’re more attacking this year thats why we let in more and points to goals scored to prove it. We all know we don’t create anything because we watch the games and when you look into it 7/13 epl games with his system we have scored 0/1 in 9/13 if it wasn’t for a ngog dive and mascherano’s fluke. Isaac what do you mean he couldn’t have done anything different at Blackburn? Could have played kuyt and ngog together up front as everyone knows they can’t do the lone striker role. Could have played mascherano as one holding midfielder with gerrard and either aquilani/benayoun in the hole. We only had 2 players out injured and he has a 45 man squad we can’t expect to have no injuries every club gets a couple like the 3/4 we had each game at the start of the season perfectly manageable and when we did have a lot of players out we still had enough quality to beat the likes of Sunderland, birmingham and everyone we have played. If we leave it too long we will be too far adrift to even get 4th place! Agree with a comment earlier a new manager will be like 10 new signings

Highlights? The highlight of that match was when it finally ended. What rubbish we were. Even when we got a sitter, it was missed. Aquilani, the most expensive non-playing sub in EPL history. He cannot play, but El Zhar can? I read the posts about 2010, but if that is the case, they need to be up front with the supporters. Why should we spend our hard earned on going to Anfield to watch a team that is some sort of “throw together”? Every other team we are worried about won yesterday and we didn’t get a single goal off Blackburn. Things are most certainly amiss.

Afternoon Donavan,Isaac and kermit.
The only reason i wont jump on the sack rafa brigade is because i think too many people have short memories about the football we played before rafa came it was god awful at best and i was there to watch rafa’s valencia teach us how to play the game and in those rare games you dont feel angry you just feel privaliged to be there to watch perfection on the pitch. I think this year has been shocking up to now but on the whole we are improving and we need to get everyone fit and playing in the hope we can salvage something from it as for next year we need a big push or i think rafa will be the one who gets the push and then even i wont back him and donavan thats a promise!!!
YNWA.
ps if aquilani exists we must be able to play him this is so frustrating even my work mates who are mancs are pissed off at waiting to see him.

Il respost my input on an earlier thread:
im starting to get really pissed off with these crap results against teams which we should be beating. Firstly…congrats to rafa for making a sub on 55mins…. its about fucking time.
Secondly, rafa what the fuck are you doing bringing on nabil el zhar for benayoun???
why not el zhar for kuyt? and ngog for riera?
against a team like blackburn you need a better striker than kuyt…kuyts a “in the hole” man if anything…hes not a bloody striker.
Hes not quick enough and he doesnt have enough skill.
Blackburns defence are brute…and most of their players are very strong.
Some physical presence wouldnt have gone amiss here…especially upfront…so why only play with a lone striker… and why Dirk kuyt?
Dirk is neither fast or strong enough to play lone striker and as previoulsy stated by kermit, is a goal poacher who does better to poach rebounds off shots from fast wingers or other forwards.
We should have started 4-4-2, with Ngog starting upfront (he made more chances than kuyt did with 70 mins or whatever it was), and partnering him should have been fucking nemeth however nemeth isnt here….so wheres our other striker? Oh we dont have one…(babels a winger now…dont forget)
Prior to this game I was starting to beleive that there wasnt much need to bring in a striker in January, however we now all know this is definately not the case…
We need to buy in January, and we need to buy big. im talking 20-30 million, otherwise we need to secure some big loan deals for big players.
We are Liverpool FC and we shouldnt be monkeying around chasing after shite players. If we dont spend big on a striker in January, and lo and behold if ngog and torres get injuired at the same time, even if its just for 2-3 weeks..we are screwed.
On another note im starting to beleive that Aquilani is suffering alot more than we were initially led to believe
loading...
Reds Lewis - December 6th, 2009 at 4:17 pm
Id also like to add that whilst I beleive rafa hasnt had the funds or backing that the likes of SAF and abundant Chelsea managers, I also beleive he hasnt made the best out of what hes got. E.g players no budget mainly, and sometimes the 2 combined….
We have the likes of Nemeth abroad at AEK and Pacheco also….who could be in there ahead of some other players in the 1st team..not mentioning any names.
Kuyt isnt a striker, rafa should know that by now…so why play him there?
and also…wingers….el zhar has pace, as does nathan eccleston…. why not give them a chance ahead of kuyt?
Aurelio is a decent LB too, but hes not a midfielder….
and against blackburn, and other teams with a powerful defence, one player up front isnt enough.
Guarantee when Manu play blackburn, theypl play with 2 strikers up front, berbatov/owen and rooney…..

We need to get everyone fit? We only had 2 players missing only torres of them would be in Rafa’s first 11 its only for about a month of the season we have had more than the normal 4 or so absentees that every team have. Aquilani should have played in lyon, debrecen, birmingham, Everton he should be playing full games by now he isn’t match fit? Rafa’s fault because he loves the defensive garbage he puts out. He wants games to be so tight that he can control everything on the pitch. The good managers like king Kenny, ferguson don’t do that they organise the defence and let the flair players do what they do best.

isaac hunt – December 6th, 2009 at 2:39 pm…… Isaac you asked what could Rafa have done different. You touched on it yourself. …..”he needs to realise that 2 defensive cm is not working”……… Also Kuyt is not a lone striker. His more of a poacher.
He should have had Lucas on the bench dropped Gerrard back to midfield played Kuyt up front a long side N’gog 4-4-2
Or the same but with Kuyt on the right and Benayoun just behind N’gog 4-4-1-1……,
Or even going with what he did but playing Aquilani instead of Lucas …….
“to say that our bad season has nothing to do with injuries is madness. please explain to me!”…….
Even without the injuries Rafa’s tactic s are nearly always the same. He does not change the shape of the team,or players. He uses players like Voronin instead of players like Pacheco…….
If Johnson is injured he will stick Carragher on the right in stead of Darby. He makes no really use of the players we have.
Just for once I would like to see Rafa go an attacking 5-3-2 or 4-1-3-2 anything other than 4-4-1-1 or 4-5-1. He does not know how to change the team if certain players are not playing….. This what I mean when I say that “It has little to nothing to do with injured players (If you’re not picking the right player for the
right role. Or playing to defensive.)……”
As for the “I will be happy to have Rafa in four and a half seasons as long as he is given enough money” ……. He was given money how did he spend it? £20.5 on a player he won’t play ……

he means we need to get everyone fit and playing together you idiot. this season it has either been gerrard or torres or johnson or riera or benayoun who have been injured and we havent had our full strength side out once. although i dont like the 2 defensive midfielders you cant knock it too much. chelsea enilated everyone in the league with that formation under mourinho. you have to understand that torres is the biggest part of our team. we should still be beating blackburn but you have to realise we will not be as good without him.
this is the difference between man u and chelsea.
united can put berbatov upfront when rooney is out and chelsea can put anelka there when drogba is injured. when torres is out we have ngog and kuyt!!!!!!

Ok if there is one thing that Rafa should have learnt by now is who is good enough and who is not….. So in summer transfer window there should be players going out and new ones coming in….. I am betting there will be more defensive players coming in than offensive no real attack minded wingers or midfielders and none of the Reserves bearking into the first team….. And why? two reason
(1) He is too denfensive….
(2) so he can continue to blame things on not have enough money….

People need to get realistic now we are 5 points off fourth we need to beat arsenal just to stay 5 points adrift, draw and we are 7 points away lose and its 8 points adrift thats assuming arsenal win their game in hand. If a lesser team was 8 points adrift in the relegation zone the manager going is the one way to give them a chance of turning it around and saving themselves. Its the same for us we drop out of the top four we lose millions, players and can’t attract more players. Other teams already have more spending power we could seriously take years to recover. This is a disaster we can’t let happen because of one champions league win 5 years ago. Get rafa out now while we have a chance to avoid it! Mancini would do amazing things with this great squad.

well the likes of donovan ried jimmy carter and some others saw this a long time ago.
i am not interested in talking about rafa going out cos i don’t see it as a possibilty.
liverpool is in debt, rafa just signed a new 5 year contract. so hicks and gillets will not afford to accomodate such a loss in this present financial condition.
any way i remember i aregued on this site the importance of alonso in our team. but donovan, yes donovan ried came up to list so many midfielders better than alonso including mikel obi and diarra.
well i can only affirm what gerrard had said. the missing plot is alonso. when he left our formation shoul have been changed but rafa has ended up believing that one certain lucas could replace him.
well thats one of our major challenges cos i assume we are down to ten men each time i see lucas leiva on the pitch.

Lincoln ‘no relation to david?’ burrows! The expense of getting rid of rafa is nothing compared to the expense of him staying. Was rafa himself thinking that barry was better than alonso that was more important. Even if he had wanted to keep 4-5-1 mascherano/gerrard/benayoun would have got results as would mascherano/gerrard/aquilani now. Like you say the favourites lucas and kuyt are in there no matter if they offer nothing and are being played out of position. The worse the trouble gets the more stubborn and negative rafa gets. Its a good job for him the owners don’t understand football because if they knew what they were watching he would be gone by now!

Isaac 5.02 mourinho only played one holding midfielder in makelele and a lot of the time played 2 up front. Always played real wingers duff, robben, cole don’t try and be clever it really doesn’t suit you. If we haven’t got good enough strikers available then maybe we should have kept keane, bellamy, crouch, heskey, nemeth, tried babel there or maybe he should play someone who can create chances before blaming the strikers who aren’t suited to his lone striker role as it is without having a midfield full of defensive workhorses to supply them. The one player we have that has all the attributes to do the lone striker role in torres absence is babel pace, strength, awesome shot don’t think he has ever had a full game there and rafa has piece by piece destroyed him. Place the blame where it belongs not everywhere but!

disappointing again.
aquilani left on bench again. was there any danger to him comming on? we were all over them in the eary part of the second half and the commentator said aquilani was comming on, but he never. we were crying out for a final ball into the box but it never came, until johnson broke in for agog to hit the bar( great diffending though, not howling miss). rafa said after the game that aquilani would play on wed. i hope so.
i think we are going to struggel to make 4 now. i tink it is imperitive that we get another striker in jan because if torres gets injured again then we will struggel to qualify for the europa league. this was quite possibly the worst performance i have seen from liverpool for many a match.
i think rafa is a great manager, and it could be terrible to lose him … BUT, either his tactics need to change or we need a new manager. 4.5.1 is effective against attacking teams but if teams dont attack then we need to presure their deffence. after 60 mins against blackburn, 0.0 would fergi, wenger or Mourinho settle for this? i hope it changes from now. attack.attack. 1 holding mid other 5 ‘all guns blazing’

We don’t need billionaire owners and i don’t want them. I don’t want liverpool to be a chelsea or city. United and arsenal haven’t bought their success with billionaires money they just had decent managers and made some of the best players in the world out of their youth system. Wenger kept arsenal in the top four every season while they funded a new stadium. We have a squad capable of winning the league last year. Sell one quality player, buy 2 and the squad isn’t good enough now? The owners are here until at least they make a profit on their shares. That won’t happen until there is success on the field. You believe Rafa’s propaganda campaign despite what watching the games shows you. Finishing in the top four is a must would say any idiot can see that but isaac you have just proved that isn’t the case.

what i want to say is,i thought the liverpool way was keep it in house, but the last 24 months have been all over the place. liverpool in the 80’s were fantastic, as we all know. we’ve live in the shadows of that period since then.
we need a new lease of life into the club. rafa is a tactical genious, we often hear, but he has only won 1 champions league, and 1 fa cup. we all know that torres injury has dented our season considerably. we cant do without him. we need another good striker. ngog is ok but not proven, what if he gets injured, then we have kuyt, and maybe babel. voronin is a waist of space. i cant see any of them scoring 20 goals a season. dirk maybe, but 4.2.3.1 formation doesnot work without torres. time for a change. i hope the tactical genious work some magic before our season and future is under jeopardy

Just because issac wants the club to do well under rafa you say and i quote ” You arnt a liverpool fan, Your a rafa fan” which is completly unfounded and damn right ignorant. Yes its a rough patch and it maybe a long but look at i dont know CHELSEA, Yesturday. 5 points top of the table, lose one 2 points, simple maths which you seem to be forgetting can benefit liverpool, if your so much a fan of it. Oh and before you have a come back at me read issac’s comment he states 2 ill repeat that 2 possibilites which your narrow minded little head cant see. Let me just say something before you call me a rafa fan. I Love liverpool, supported them as a child and always will and always will say every player we get benefits us. Unlike what you might say ( btw i have seen some of your comments before ) So Where do we head from here you mentioned SAF and Mr.Wenger who LET ME POINT THIS OUT took years to build that squad they have and if you havent noticed whats rafa doing?. Not seen Ngog Nemeth or even Insua lately. It took wenger years to build that squad likeways SAF thats why theyre doing so good we didnt have that previous foundation that they had but we are getting it.It took SAF 7 years to win the league there owners give him a chance, theyre fans did also but its people like YOU who stop this club becoming a arsenal a man united. Yes We dont need alot of money it just speeds up the process but Like many people say about the league its a marathon not a sprint. Take it like this Rome wasnt built in a day Or was it Mr. Retryboy

People keep mentioning SAF taking 7 years to make Man Utd into a great team so we should give Rafa a chance….
The fact is that you could see the improvement in Man Utd year by year; you can not say the same for Liverpool under Rafa.
Yes we finished in second place last season. But as I said at the time it was more to do with Chelsea and there injuries, and Man Utd’s Poor start to the season, and Arsenal poor form than to do with how well we were playing under Rafa …. Or do you all forget the late wins and all the drawn games.
Wenger (as stated by Retryboy) kept Arsenal in the top four while spending little to no money. By making use of the youths. And yes they many not have won a cup both the youths have come close losing to a full strength Chelsea side in the Carling Cup. But Arsen wenger has kept faith with them. ….
As I said before “it seems funny that more and more ex-Liverpool players are speaking out against Rafa. It’s got to mean something”….
What would be better? Getting a new manager and there is a chance of some players going? Or missing out on the CL this year and next and some players going?
Torres joined Liverpool for two reasons, to win the CL and because it’s the team that he supported as a boy…..
This by no way means that he will say at Liverpool Fc…. The only way to keep him is to win Cups…..
Remember Both Stevie G and Jamie Carra Supported Everton as Boys and are now playing for Liverpool. So it does guarantee Torres commitment to the club

On the other story rafa should have let torres have his op ages ago, recovery time was apparently 1/2 months well he has missed 5 weeks already! We are gonna keep patching him up sending him back in. Donovan it is definitely typical of his man management skills. Players needs are underneath the goatee trimming on list of priorities!… Lewis not sure there i see a lot of similarities between a roman batallion and a rafa formation! Can see him now barking at the 100 soldiers in their 10×10 square “compact!” giving his hand signals for them to get even closer together then if he loses the battle it is because of all the injuries lol

So rafa what do you think of the battle overall, do you beleive you got enough from your men? the correct formation?
Rafa: errrrrrrm well i think the men showed good character in the battlesh and they kept to their formation, and de shquad was definately improving, you can see every week dat de shquad is improving and de shields and defensive works are paying off.
alsho i think that er it is important t note dat we have alot of injuries at de moment, er….for example brutus and de ceasar are both injuired and they are of courshe very important players on the field sho we are lacking a bit of “kwality” in those areazzzz

Champions league will probably be used as a shop window for the players we want to offload especially dossena with italian opponents. Wonder if some of the young guys like darby, kelly, Eccleston, amoo that are in the squad will get a game hope so. Will be suspect if babel is fit.

Ha ha lol spot on lewis! except you missed the need to “fok us!” rafa wants to fok us! He has been working for years to fok us and now i think he has managed it! Think the romans conquered england as well as europe though

let torres have the op totally agre , the only reason he ist have the op is the dopey gaffer has no contingency plan and knows without torrees we are shit so he risks torres s health and world cup dreams but aquilani needs cotton wool around his legs before he can play
and someone ealrier said 4 2 31 doesnt work without torres yay well spotted shame rafa s tactical genius isnt spawned by listening to fan forums we might actually win a game

Why does everyone have to to use personal insults, there is no need to insult someone.
If people supports rafa then let them. At the end of the day they are Liverpool supporters and thats all that matters.
i personally think Rafa isn’t right for the job but i woudn’t go to someone ‘you like Rafa your an ass!’ as thats stupid and pathetic likewise if someone goes ‘you hate Rafa , your an ass!’ as i respect other peoples opinions which some people need to learn.
Now onto how we can improve then i woud say play the diamond formation as that is very effective plus we have the team to play an effective diamond.

Evening all…Good to see with spota, nick and lewis we have fans with their eyes open on here donovan! Not people stuck in istanbul. People who judge off what they see on the pitch not buy into lame excuses. Thats why the brigade avoided this one, there are no excuses, 2 injuries in a 45 man squad, against one of the weakest squads in the epl who had played a 2 hour game 3 days before. The only thing they have left is isaacs liverpool way speech, doesn’t really carry much water seeing as though the way rafa plays football isn’t anything like the liverpool way, as Ronnie whelan said definitely not the liverpool way giving up on games like at fulham. Only thing is the worse we get the more vocal the brigade are hope the owners realise that public opinion has swung because i think thats what is keeping rafa in more than the pay off. The owners seem quite prudent in planning to not reach the next stage of the champions league, they must have a contingency budget, last thing Purslow said was rafa would be judged on the domestic league not europe time to take a look at the table mr Purslow! They are still trying to secure £100m investment too. £15m rafa pay off £5m for his 9 spanish backroom boys. £20m for the new boss to spend £60m towards the stadium. If not as we all know a good manager could do wonders with the quality in the basic squad and some shrewd deals!

Afternoon donavan, retryboy and kermit and everyone else
I have to admit i would not sack benitez not because what it would cost but because i do believe in him i think he will lead us to better times and eventually we will see the football we desire i think we have improved beyond reconition since houllier left imo.
However this season is an absolute shocker so far its not just the results its how we have deserved the results we have got and rafa has made some bad judgements this year but i feel we need to see what happens from now to the end of the season before asking for his head if at the end of the season we dont look like we will make the next season at least a title challenge then he has nowhere to go and i for one will not moan thats a promise donavan.
But i refuse to listen to all the hype in papers and dickheads who say the same thing regardless of where we sit in the league and we should not push the headless chicken panick button just yet.

Evening dibbler fair enough everyone has different levels of patience and different views on what needs to be done not a problem with that. For me not digging up the past the whole alonso, keane and everything else before, the mistakes started pre-season not with signing an injured player no problem with that its at the end of last season don’t think i was alone in thinking right we clear out these 6/7 players that have proved they aren’t good enough getting another 1/2 quality additions and for some reason rafa wouldn’t offload them and now in january everyones list is exactly the same mine has even had kyrgiakos added. Which ties in with the next big one for me the nemeth loan and kyrgiakos signing. This for me should have definitely been the year for nemeth, babel, kelly, darby, ayala, insua, spearing, pacheco, ngog to become the back ups in the squad. Nemeth and babel i see as first team players every week. Babel on the right, nemeth the perfect partner for torres. Its another thing that is my point of view the players that i believe can be liverpool greats are the ones not getting chances. The ones i don’t rate highly like lucas and kuyt are regulars. Seeing another carling cup go by full of 30 year olds that aren’t quality and nothing new tried is a waste, feel rafa always wastes the competition only youngsters that get in aren’t on merit its when he hasn’t got a 30 year old that needs a game. The negative formation, lack of creativity in the team, crazy selections and subs, lack of flexibility in formation especially when torres is out, rafa to me has tried pulling the wool over fans eyes some of the statements he has made have even been lies. Saying he was trying to buy barry for LM when everyone including alonso knew he was to replace Xabi, using the aquilani injury to play a more defensive team when we were basically promised a player like alonso but more attacking gave the impression of a more attacking team this year and its a lot more negative. He points to goals scored in the league…

Retryboy Babel is pure shit, yes the odd game he plays well but he deserves to be on the bench why dont you think we play him?

Retryboy - December 7th, 2009 at 11:01 pm
cont… To say that we attack more thats why we let in more yet 1/3 of those goals were scored in the 2 games we didn’t have 2 holding midfielders and we have failed to score 2 goals in 7/13 games with his system and without ngogs dive and mascherano’s fluke would have been 9/13 again we watch the games and we know the balance isn’t right and that one goal is not enough to win a game and rafa tries to tell us we are more attacking. So i have my reasons some the same as others some different as you have your reasons to think rafa is still the best man for the job. No problems with that its when people use ‘the liverpool way’ or ‘to support the team you have to support the manager’ or ‘you aren’t a true fan’ rather than just argue their case based on reasons. I know we have had injuries too but i honestly believe for every game we have played there has been enough quality available to win the one game maybe there shouldn’t have been was united and we won that!

Retryboy i totally agree with most of what you are saying mate but if we get rid now who comes in and whoever comes in needs more time and there own signings and the january window is not the time to overhaul the squad espesially this year as chelski will be buying big and pushing up prices. As for nemeth, darby, spearing and in particular pacheco i would love to see them playing but if you put them in all at once it is sink or swim time it can kill a players career and get the manager the sack its not like we have the expectations of a blackburn or west ham and unfortunatly we as a club expect instant results.
I thought about king kenny the other day and thought what if, but i think like i said before we need to judge at the end of the season or at least give him every chance to salvage something.

Anon 10.51 babel has scored or created a goal for every 90 mins on the pitch this year. He is quality on the right he only had 15 minutes this year and set up the winning goal at west ham with quality wing play and a pinpoint cross, had torres singing his praises after the game because you know he would thrive off that service regularly. Yet never played there again. He is better on the right because he can use his pace and epl defenders unlike lyon’s know what he wants to do on the left cut inside and shoot so they send him outside on his poor left peg or he has to bundle his way inside which unlike yossi who is better on the left he hasn’t got the close control or ability to thread a killer pass to do. Rafa doesn’t play him because kuyt is a favourite and although a good player by no means should be untouchable especially after how poor he has been this season. Rafa likes workhorses over creativity thats why he doesn’t play and because rafa only ever plays 3/4 attacking players in a team when fit gerrard, torres, kuyt and benayoun automatically take those places we have aquilani too. Why do you think nemeth and Eccleston are looking elsewhere and we couldn’t keep bellamy or crouch happy? Doesn’t matter how much you impress there aren’t enough places for the attacking players in Rafa’s system and then you have to fit the system. Not a system to fit the players available letting you pick the strongest team possible he would rather have square pegs in round holes also think he believes having a genuine winger with johnson would be too attacking and you need someone to track back have argued this with people before it works fine with lennon for england and if their full back is defending babel he isn’t getting forward himself.

Dibbler- another reason why i want him out now is because i think Mancini is the man we need. Don’t think the squad needs an overhaul someone said on another thread a new manager would be like 10 new signings and it would be because fresh starts for everyone. Different ideas about the players best positions. Like i said before i would have nemeth straight in the team and the rest in the squad a 30 man squad is normal you still have 6/7 experienced squad players. Gk-reina RB-johnson LB-aurelio CB-carragher CB-agger CM-mascherano CM-gerrard LM-benayoun CF-torres CF-nemeth RM-babel ** back up team Gk-martin/gulacsi RB-darby/kelly LB-insua CB-skrtel CB-kelly/ayala CM-lucas/spearing
CM-aquilani/lucas LM-riera CF-ngog/Eccleston CF-kuyt/pacheco RM-kuyt/el zhar
Selling cavalieri, degen, dossena, kyrgiakos, plessis, voronin would bring in about £20m for 1 first teamer one back up i think just selling those players strengthens the squad because the young players are better. Still plenty of experience in back up even with 6/7 out the youngsters would only be on the bench. Playing 4-4-2 also means we only need 1 of gerrard or aquilani fit and with aquilani able to play on the left and yossi on both gives us loads of options when we have injuries on the flanks.

ok isaac hunt he has brought some good players sorry, but look at the rest of them, to many to mention, but not only that, he plays them week in week out. I would’nt have most of em in a sunday leugue team never mind paying them to play. The thing is that the bad players make the good player look bad, I do think at times we play well some of the best play Ive seen but we dont do it enough. No consistancey who do you plame for that RAFFA no one else. I mean he tryed to sell Gerrard the driving force of LFC.
