Brazilian striker Welliton has revealed he would be interested in a move to Tottenham.
Reports in Russia have claimed Spartak Moscow are keen on bringing unsettled Spurs forward Roman Pavlyuchenko back to the club and could use Welliton as part of the deal.
Pavlyuchenko is understood to be considering his future at White Hart Lane as he is unhappy with his lack of first-team action under Harry Redknapp.
Welliton has attracted the interest of a number of clubs after scoring 21 goals this season and he is open to the idea of an exchange with Pavlyuchenko.“Tottenham are a famous club with a good infrastructure,” Welliton is quoted as saying in the Daily Mail.
However, Welliton admits he would also be happy to stay and play alongside Pavlyuchenko at Spartak if the Russian was to return to his homeland.
“Of course I’d be happy if we signed him,” added Welliton. “I don’t see any reason to be upset. I only have pleasant memories of playing together with him.
“We are both versatile forwards who would complement each other.”
Meanwhile, Lokomotiv Moscow have played down reports that they are close to sealing a deal for Pavlyuchenko.
Lokomotiv president Nikolay Naumov has refused to rule out a move for Pavlyuchenko, but claims there have been no talks between the two clubs.
“Our interest in Pavlyuchenko is no more than a rumour,” said Naumov. (Sky Sports)
So there you have it, as Roman continues to hope for a move to a club who may give him the playing time he deserves his former club have a Brazilian who would very much like to join us, will this swap deal happen, almost certainly not!
Tottenham midfielder Wilson Palacios was taken to hospital after suffering a rib injury at the end of his side’s 2-2 draw away at Everton on Sunday.
The 25-year told was hurt when he was fouled by Tony Hibbert, which resulted in a penalty that Jermain Defoe missed.
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp revealed: “They have taken him to hospital and he is in a lot of pain.
“He is a tough lad so it can’t be very good for him to be struggling like he is. Hopefully he will be OK.” (BBC Sport)
Wilson is a footballing god in my eyes. The guy never complains and gets the job done with minimum fuss and is one of the best in his position in the Premier League and is probably the best buy Harry has made since he came to the club. The Honduran plays with controlled passion and is loved by all Tottenham fans, be included, hopefully this injury won’t sideline him for long and frankly I can imagine playing for the club even if he were covered in bandages from head to toe.
In other news three loaned out players all appear to be very happy plying their trade away from White Hart Lane in order to get themselves a first team place. Adel Taarabt continues to do a great job at QPR and whilst I think Redknapp is keeping a close eye on the attacker I can see him leaving in the summer to try his luck out on the continent where perhaps he will prove his worth.
Teenager John Bostock is getting a good spell of football down at Griffin Park and appears to be keen on staying at Brentford for a while longer and I think it would suit all parties if he remained at the League One club for the rest of the season to give him a good grounding of experience then he can come back in the summer and give the first team picture at White Hart Lane a good go.
Jamie O’Hara is another loanee who is impressing many. At Pompey is something of a big fish in a small pond and he played a blinder on the weekend against Burnley, culminating in a magical cross that set up Portsmouth‘s second of the game. Obviously Jamie is something of a cult hero at the club and I think he is a quality player but it would be interesting to see what the lad decides to do if he is offered a permanent deal at Fratton Park.
