Tottenham could be boosted at the weekend by the return of Luka Modric if the Croatian midfielder comes through a private friendly today.
Modric suffered a fracture to his right fibula in the 2-1 win over Birmingham in September in a challenge with Lee Bowyer.
He was originally given eight weeks to return but has suffered complications and only recently returned to light training with Tottenham’s youth team. However, the 24 year-old is set to feature in a behind-closed-doors friendly at the club’s training ground.
If Modric gets through the game manager Harry Redknapp is hopeful he could feature against Wolves at White Hart Lane on Saturday.
And the 24 year-old is hoping to win his race against time to be fit for the Premier League clash with struggling Wolves at White Hart Lane on Saturday.
His return could be timely after fellow midfielder Wilson Palacios suffered an injury during Saturday night’s 2-2 draw at Everton.
Palacios was cleared to travel back from Liverpool with the team after visiting hospital as a precaution following the rib injury.
The midfielder will be assessed over the course of the week to determine his availability for the weekend fixture against Wolves. (Telegraph)
When Croat Luka Modric was left sprawling in agony after an ill advised tackle from Lee Bowyer, what a surprise, many Tottenham fans were rightfully fearful that all the hard work that up to that point had seen them scale the dizzy heights of the Premier League would be undone but whilst Harry Redknapp has managed to keep the Spurs top four train on its tracks every Spurs fan will be very pleased to hear that their mercurial midfielder is well on the way to recovery.
Redknapp has chopped and changed his attacking line up to take into account the enforced absence of Modric and after seeing his side manage just four wins from the eleven Premier League games without the former Zagreb man he will be looking forward to re-adjusting his pack to get a more natural look about his side.
