Roman Pavlyuchenko’s agent Oleg Artemov has claimed that Arsenal are among the clubs chasing the striker.
The 27-year-old Russia international has been frozen out at Tottenham this season after falling down the pecking order behind Jermain Defoe,Robbie Keane and Peter Crouch, and Spurs’ arch rivals are reportedly interested in his signature.
A move to Italian club Roma has recently been touted as Pavlyuchenko’s preferred option but no deal has been done as yet.
The Gunners are looking to add a striker to their squad following the serious injury suffered by Robin van Persie in November while on international duty, and Artemov claims they are interested in Pavlyuchenko.
“We are not happy about his situation at Tottenham, so we’ll do everything to ensure that he can change club in January,” he told tuttomercatoweb.
“There were contacts with Roma but for now only by phone.
“Interested in the player are also Spartak Moscow, Arsenal and Zenit (St Petersburg), anything can happen.” (Sky Sports)
Now I have heard it all. Its not bad enough to have our club linked with a move for Carlton bloody Cole now Roman is linked with a move down the road to the Emirates? I can assure you such a move exists only in the rather confused mind of Pavy’s agent, who is probably very keen to get his 10% share of an exit that is no doubt long overdue but will not be to Arsenal. I am a big fan of the Russian international and only wished there was some way to keep him at the club, we all love players who’s hearts on their sleeves and he is a top notch forward who just appears to be unable to break past a system that is clearly working well.
Now if only the press could work out ways for us to keep Pavlyuchenko at the club….
Tottenham braced as Celtic prepare loan move for Robbie Keane
Celtic manager Tony Mowbray is preparing to make an ambitious move for Tottenham striker Robbie Keane with the Scottish side hoping to seal a loan arrangement so they are able to cope with the player’s huge wages.Mowbray has previously made his intentions known and has been encouraged by the fact that Keane is struggling to start regularly for Harry Redknapp’s side, who are enjoying an excellent season in the Premier League.
Celtic are hopeful that a loan deal can be struck with a view to a permanent transfer at some point in the future, according to a report in today’s Daily Mirror.Keane, who returned to White Hart Lane after a difficult spell at Liverpool has seen Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch move ahead of him in the striking pecking order at Tottenham and could be open to a move where he would be instantly taken to heart due to his Irish international credentials.
While many would see a move to Scotland as a step down from the Premier League, the prospect of winning a title and having a crack at the Champions League will appeal to Keane.
Under the proposed arrangement Celtic would want Tottenham to continue to pay a proportion of Keane’s salary which dwarfs anything they are currently playing to their squad.
Were the move to go ahead Redknapp would undoubtedly enter the January transfer market for a replacement striker. (Telegraph)
Bingo! Now this isn’t the first time we have seen Pointy Shouty Bloke linked with a move to Celtic and it won’t be the last. Now can anyone really see Harry loaning out one of our top players? What do we get out of that exactly? Yes Robbie is not the same player he once was but he can sure as hell do a good job at the club and will be at White Hart Lane for quite a while longer.
Some good news however comes in the shape of Luka Modric who is apparently nearing a much anticipated return from injury. Now his return could see Harry reshuffle the pack and it could be that Keane is probably going to find himself continuing to warm the bench when the Croat does return to the fold, so perhaps there is mileage in the Irishman leaving the club. Perhaps he could be sold back to Liverpool so we can then just buy him back again if we need in the future (joke).

Carlton Cole would be the nuts for Tottenham – simple as that.

Rather have Cole than Pav or that t++ser crouch!!! Least hes good enough for the prem!

I actually think Carlton Cole would be awesome for us! The one thing about crouch is that although he wins headers, he cannot stand his sground and has no physical presence. Carlton Cole on the other hand is a monster! Against West Ham earlier on in the season King and Bassong had a real tough time handling him: his hold up play was immense and what a belter he scored against us! Pav is built like a school girl and is just useless. COYS

Robbie Keane is NOT going to Celtic. This would be the WORST possible move for both the player AND Ireland. The Captain of the national team needs to play top flight football for honor. Perhaps had Celtic and Rangers been allowed to join the Prem, not now.

Keane won´t go to Celtic on loan although perhaps sold to Celtic, Pav has not really had his chance since Harry has been there but is there something Harry see´s that we as Spurs fans don´t?
“pointy, shouty bloke” isn´t that a Harry Hotspursism? another idiot if ever there was one.

I was a big fan of pav when he 1st joined but i have to say – hes got no go in him at all. As for c cole – leave it out! Hes as bad as soppy crouch! We need somone to play along side defoe – somone like Chamakh or somone who is a bit more than a target man (cole and crouch).
Why are we lowering ourselves to cole – may as well buy zamora back!
More importantly we should have brought a LW! Alright we have kranjcar now but that took long enough.
Get a defensive midfielder and another striker in jan and i think we can get top 4!
Do one cole

Its weird how so many clubs suddenly want Cole. I’d take him at LFC in a heartbeat. Been saying it for months now.

Adriano maybe? Put it this way.. Keano aint going nowhere… Nor is Crouchy or Defoe.. So any striker we buy will have to be world class to get in the first team alongside defoe.
I’d be tempted to buy Cole on the cheap… Give the Spammers a defender (Hutton) in the deal.. And rotate him and crouchy to see who gives us the most.
As far as LW goes… Mods , Kranc and Gio! Noone needed there!!

And i would keep Pav!! He has something about him I like, but then my shooting is probably more accurate! He has no international tournament to play in.. Should be happy coming off the bench if Harry would ever play him.

Keane is now in the appropriate role of super sub. He still has talent, and when he’s on his game, I’d start him, but other than that, on at 60 or 65 minutes if we need some energy. Keane won’t be loaned out. Crouch and Defoe should not be starting together as they really don’t help break up opposition attacks. Even Lennon has finally realized that there are two ends to the pitch which has resulted in him becoming a “team” player. Capello has no doubt noticed. With guys like Rooney and Lennon pushing forward and tracking back, England will we in good stead in South Africa. With both Crouch and Defoe on the pitch to start, we will always leak goals I don’t see us finishing top four with those two as strikers in a 4-4-2. As regards Pav, I rate him highly, but clearly his head is not on straight, and just like with Gio, Harry will not select him until he’s focused. Gio’s head is back in the game and I do suspect as he will find himself getting lots of playing time as the year progresses (Gio and Defoe as strikers?). Pav should be sold on now as he is not cup tied (other than Carling), so there will almost certainly be someone willing to pay what Spurs are looking for as the window nears closing time – just not Arsenal or Liverpool – we can’t help teams stay in the top four. If we need a LW we can always call back O’Hara who is really starting to distinguish himself with Pompey. We need another proven CB and another young CB (Richards would make me happy). Naughton should be playing more as well and we could really use a competent LB to push Ekotto a bit. I’d sell on Jenas, Hutton, Pav and Bale to fund the transfers and let’s get Sandro in here ASAP. COYS, a couple of tweaks to get top 4 and a couple of summer signings away from being a legit CL squad.

There is no doubting Cole’s ability but not for the reported £20m that I’ve read thrown about. For that money we could goto Madrid and buy a couple of their players. Premiership clubs have an unrealistic take on transfer fees. Besides, Cole gets injured for too often and is not a prolific scorer.
What is the deal with Pavlyuchenko, is he just lazy? When his head was screwed on right he played very well. He has the ability to be both Crouch and Keane when on the ball. Has he attempted to learn English as requested by ‘Arry and Guus?
And his agent suggesting the Arse & Anal are interested is farcical.
Absolute shame as he is a quality player who doesn’t seem too interested to fight for his place, which surely doesn’t look good for any team searching for a striker. At least Gio dos Santos is willing to participate.
