We need your help to find the best Premier League players of the year. Cast your mind back over the year and think about the performers who most impressed you. We are looking to find the ten most referenced players who we will then place on an all important poll which will then lead us to a winner.
There are the candidates who always pop up in such awards list, mainly because they are the most consistent players out there, the likes of Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Cesc Fabregas and Wayne Rooney, all of whom have had good years. However there are also the less glamorous players who have nonetheless shown their talents in 2009, players like Carlton Cole, Brede Hangeland and Ryan Shawcross.
There are also those who greatly improved during the course of the last year such as Aaron Lennon, Darren Fletcher or Louis Saha.
Remember we are talking about the entire year so don’t be swayed simply by the start of this term, recall also those who ended last season with a bang.

fletcher is a very good defensive midfielder.
gerrard is a world class centre midfielder.
just like mascherano, fletcher is overated because it is not the hardest thing in the world to run all game and tackle whereas it is the hardest thing in the game to put the ball in the back of the net and make goals for other people like gerrard does.

2.Evra (never had a bad game imo)
3.Fabregas (best center midfielder right now, amazing passes, consistent)
4.Michael Essien (amazing at defending, useful in attack)
5.Ashley Cole (great crosses, inks well with drogba and anelka)
6.Vidic (best center back right now even though injury problems)
7.Ireland (great attacking midfielder, only consistent player on Manchester City)
8.Drogba (power+pace+finishing=amazing)
9.Vermaelen (consistent, smart, great jumping, decent goal scoring)
10.Giggs (pure class)
Wayne Rooney and Steven Gerrard are overrated. Gerrard is inconsistent, Rooney just doesn’t score. Most his goals this year aare from penalty kicks.

i dont now why everybody loves rooney. i think it is just because he is english and the media never have a bad word to say about him. he hardly scores any massive goals anymore and has had about 4 penalties this season. yes he works hard and is a good player but he is not a world class player. there are many better forwards in the world but the media have to overhype him because he is english. a few weeks ago alan shearer said that he would rather have rooney than torres or drogba. anyone knows that torres and drogba are a class better than any striker in the prem but the media have to try and convince people that an englishman is the best .

I could name even more, 10 is quite a limited amount, but these are quite consistent perfomers, at least Kuyt for liverpool has been magnificent, fabregas, giggs and essien are very consistent, been for some years already for their teams….
drogba, torres and rooney are the goalscoring experts, and what comes to rooney he works so hard even if he doesn’t always hit in the back of the net….

I think it should be limited to one player per team and should include 10 outfield players for each position. It seems as though many are choosing attacking minded players, sure they make the headlines but defence is just as important.

Dunno how people are leaving Fabregas out of it lol. He’s the best midfielder in the prem by far (bar none) Played amazing last season and the start of this one. Always uses the ball properly and plays so intelligently.

THATS HOW MUCH HE LOVED THE GAME AND LIVERPOOL FC. I WAS WITH MY BUDDIES AND NAMED OUR FIRST 11. HE WASNT IN IT. THEN I TURNED TO HIM AND SAID. MATE YOULL BE ON THE BENCH!!. HE GAVE ME A LOOK AS IF I WAS OF MY HEAD AND MY MATES TURNED AWAY IN EMBARRASSMENT. WELL MAYBE I WAS MAD BECAUSE HES BEEN A TERRIFIC SERVANT FOR LIVERPOOL. SO PLS EVERYONE RAISE A TOAST TO JAMIE AND MAY HE LAST ANOTHER 5 YEARS !!!!
