On that evidence wolves are the worst team in the league by far. The stars of the show definitely insua and carragher. Good performances from aquilani, lucas, gerrard, benayoun and pacheco looked good off the bench he should have got 20 minutes though. Thought johnson was terrible his passing was shocking and aurelio wasn’t much better. Torres seemed to spend all his time arguing with the ref. We’ve got to up our game big time when we play villa and spurs. Truth be told tonight for all the possession again we were lacking ideas until the harsh sending off. Great cross from insua, bullet header from gerrard gave the boys the lift we needed and only hope wolves had of anything was 0-0 they just give you a ridiculous amount of time and space. Was good seeing 4 attack minded players in a team, even if aquilani was told to sit and great the untouchable kuyt was dropped. Hope pacheco and a few more of the youngsters get an fa cup run out.

Much needed win. Thank God Kuyt was dropped. He’s just not a winger. Johnson had a nightmare. Back four is still jittery but clean sheet will build confidence despite the fact that it was against 10 men.
We still lacked ideas going forward. We are seriously missing Riera. Would love to see these teams play (both involve dropping Kuyt)
1. Reina
Johnson Carragher Agger Aurelio
Benayoun Mascherano Aquilani Riera
Gerrard
Torres
OR
Same team as above except Benayoun plays left mid and BABEL plays right mid.
Kuyt has no business playing in the first team as a winger even with injuries. Can you imagine any full back in the premiership being scared of Kuyt? Thats exactly why he shouldn’t be a winger for LFC. Second striker is his only position . Lucas should be back up to Masherano and Rafa must play 4-4-2 when Torres is injured because no one else can play up front by themselves to the requisite level in the squad.
Rafa needs to learn a trick or two quickly.

My friend said 2009 is the year of the rat according to the Chinese calender.
With his rat features, no wonder Benayoun has thrived this annual year.
I am only Benny rat does not disappear on the field next year as he often did in 2007 and 2008.

Have long been willing to give Rafa the benefit of the doubt… and detest the knee-jerk sacking of coaches, clear sign of bad management… but I think this case is different. For one, we already know the management is bad and doesn’t have a solid plan. On top of that, you can’t really make the case that there’s been a lack of patience with Rafa. Take a closer look at the results this year: 3 wins, 3 draws and 10 losses to teams in the EPL top 10 and those their UEFA group. Sometimes you get lulled into thinking that it’s not so bad… we’re only this or that many points off of 4th in the table… But this is a colossally bad string of results and the manager’s team selection and tactics have been as bad or worse than any players performance.

Amazing what a decent midfielder can do to the team. Whilst Aqua was a little scratchy, his pressence on the pitch clearly lifted the whole team. WE looked a lot more offensive against wolves, but a lot more needs to be shown to save rafa. FFS give babel a run. Poor babels confidence must be shot when spearing gets a run before him!
anonymous - December 27th, 2009 at 8:16 am
Yes this was a better result than before BUT if we look a the first half the score could easily been 1-1 or even 1-2.
The back four looked quite shaky, Glen Johnsson no comments too attach minded and easily lost the possesion, Insua too slow for being so offensive was left trailing a few times after a run (excellent cross ball for Stevie G’s goal though).
Nice to see Aqua play, you could see that he will be good for us with a few more games (got tired in the end of the match).
Finally Kuyt was left out of the starting 11 he has been terrible this season.
All in all I am glad for the result (a win is a win) but I am scared to think of what the result would have been without the red card but let’s move on and look foreqrd to the Villa game and hope this is the boost we needed.
...samlfc.... - December 27th, 2009 at 9:41 am
Glad Aquilani played he looked pretty decent. Johnson needs to be slightly more defensive minded. still would like Babel on the right as i think he would be effective on the right with his good pace and beating defenders.
Good win for us, hope we can carry on winning.
anonymous - December 27th, 2009 at 10:04 am
When we buy who i think will be jones and arda turan are team should look like this
Reina
Johnson…..Carragher……Agger…..Insua
Benayoun…… Mashcherano….Gerrard… (Turan or Pacheco)
Torres …. Jones

Get aquilani more match fitness and give the young lads a chance and play fookin babel on the right ya blind spanish numpty!!
Liverpool FC Danny - December 27th, 2009 at 10:36 am
Apparently we are allowed sign two players-a winger and a striker. One of Heskey, Kenwyne Jones, Roque Santa Cruz, Elia, Aidan McGeady or Arda Turan. I personally would like Santa Cruz(not Heskey, please God no) and Arda Turan(who has said his dreams move would be to Liverpool) or maybe McGeady(but that is probably my Irish side talking). We should also get Van Der Vaart on loan and put in a bid for Barry in summer.

Retryboy – December 26th, 2009 at 11:04 pm have to disagree with you about Wolves being the worse team in the EPL…… Think Mick McCathy has them well organized and playing good football, and they looked dangerous until the sending off. Ok we did not play great, but none the less Wolves won’t be going down.
Totally agree with you about Johnson…. But I did say that when we were going to buy him he was great going forward but suspect in defence. Tends to get caught ball watching, and shows no great willingness to get back
Retryboy - December 27th, 2009 at 11:00 am
Would sign hleb for RM to compete with babel he can play ACM as well, pick up the young hungarian Koman for LM as understudy to yossi and riera. As long as we recall nemeth i am happy with our striking options… torres/ngog/babel as the main CF benayoun/nemeth/pacheco/kuyt as partners
Retryboy - December 27th, 2009 at 11:09 am
Donovan-it was just the fact they never closed anyone down or challenged for the ball. Up until the sending off can only remember one chance they made. Thing is with johnson most of the time his end product when going forward is terrible too. His crossing is unbelievably bad generally, he only gets it right 1/10th of the time, only time he looks good is when he bursts into the box. Finnan used to be the best crosser of the ball at the club from full back and rock solid defensively. There only seemed like one good attacking full back on the pitch and that was insua! You pay £17m for england’s number 1 RB you expect a lot more.

after the goal we looked like a different team going forward after we scored better in midfield there aquilani looked good looks forward and doesnt stay static found himself in the box a few times which impressed me gerrar looked more hungry much better lucas is even bombing on a bit we look weak down the wings but nothing new there i for one am a riera fan sooner we get him back the better pacheco really really good little player what i liked about us after the goal our movement was 100 times better to be honest get a few faces in in jan were be alright i would like to see pandev on a free nemeth back hlebs a great shout and mata dont know what our chances are of that but i think the last 2 would give us balance and pace
THE CHOSEN ONE - December 27th, 2009 at 11:29 am
ok here my opinion. we were very poor for me and what won us the game was the sending of. yes a win is a win and insua did a good cross and we played the ball around fine IN OUR OWN HALF. our alround team passing was very poor most behind the player instead of in front of him alot even to the opponent. fact is we made wolves look good and first half we could of been 2 nil down easily.
dont get me wrong im happy we won but can someone pls explain this. …..
your a defender the ball is coming towards you in the air you have 2 sec at least to think. your opponent is at least 4 yards away and your team mates 8 yards away waiting for the knock down and you head it pass them to their midfield.
LACK OF COMPOSURE AND WE DO IT ALL THE TIME. thats not what i call defending. yes torress moaned and quite alot.
3 things that was good for me was
1- we won
2-pacheco looks a very good versatile player and was easily my man of the match. would of given it gerrard for the header but his selfishness in not running to insua as captain after he scored summed him up. thank god someone did!! i loved the way he bossed the senior players . yes hes a star and he may even end up a winger. was impressed with him big time. hell be in first team next year from his performance.
its a team effort.
3-i didnt hit the bottle lol
i would honestly consider playing glen johnson on the right side of midfield at least the crosses will come in and i honestly dont think he was the worse liverpool player there. also think the roman was ordinary but he can only improve. our passing in the last third was aweful for 80 percent of the time.
im not being vindinctive because as you all know im a rafa fan but we really need to improve big time.
just imagine wat would of happend if we beat pompey and won this game. how close we would of mopved to the top. i think villa will come at us with confidence and we really need to improve big time.
ok ill stop moaning now bcos we won
anonymous - December 27th, 2009 at 11:39 am
Im not on signings anyone in Jan but however if we do have money, there are so many options we could go for, id happy with the first we dont need to buy we need to sell the rubbish first however rumours of the likes of arda turan coming to liverpool he is like c.ronaldo very good footwork and ball control the only thing he lacks is pace and to be honest id rather play riere or sell players to buy Juan Mata he is a class player and would fit into the EPL. As for a striking option santa cruz is good but we don’t need another striker to add to the bench collection id happy if we recall nemeth, id would plead rafa instead of buying a striker please buy a worldclass left back f.aurelio and insua are below average face it they need time and time is what we dont have if we wanna finish 4th this season the likes of juan vargas in left would be great as he is big boned and yet fast on the ball.

i think our movement in the box was also poor at times its the how a person recieves a ball that makes a cross look good, yes some of his crosses was poor due to lack of understanding of his team mates on a different wavelength but he is a good player and always feel something may happen when hes got the ball on the wing.

lucas has been bombing on abit for quite awhile and i agree with your overall assessment. hleb is just the same as riera to me. if we sell platers etc babel voronin and deggem we get 10 mil not much we can buy. if i was rafa id stick with who we have and buy a left sided winger to compete with riera. we can manage till the summer to buy a rightsided player
Retryboy - December 27th, 2009 at 11:50 am
Chosen one how can you give pacheco man of the match lol he only played 10 minutes! Johnson was far and away the worst player on the pitch. Thing is we still didn’t create a lot because even though we had another attacking player in there aquilani was still holding. Rafa has paid £20m for an attacking midfielder to get him to sit against a woeful relegation favourite! So despite the team looking more balanced on paper they are still lined up as 2 holding midfielders, left back playing LM and only 3 players again concentrating on attack.

Retryboy - December 27th, 2009 at 11:53 am
Chosen one nemeth’s interview recently he said that despite athens really struggling in the league he never considered cancelling the loan. So if the player can do it we can as has happened many times in history. So nemeth can be recalled and should be…end of!!
anonymous - December 27th, 2009 at 11:59 am
wot has happened to babel? havent seen him featuring at all in the last few games! is he injured or is it Rafa is just being stubborn again?
anonymous - December 27th, 2009 at 12:11 pm
F**k babel we all kno however good he really is rafa will not play him in his right position fuck it jus face it he will never fit inot the system we are better off selling him or swaping him for luis suarez plus he will be at ajax agin happy fuckin ending.
Retryboy - December 27th, 2009 at 12:21 pm
Think turan is a great shout for LM we only have one genuine LM in the squad in riera so turan to compete with him and hleb to compete with babel for the RM place. Think we should sell kuyt as well to help fund it.
ROB FROM KENT - December 27th, 2009 at 12:24 pm
thats my point chosen one hleb is like riera but on the other flank we need some width plus a team can terminate a loan deal at anytime to me at the minute the best thing for us to do would be play 442 with gerrard cm with aquilani i think personally the games pass gerrard by a bit pull him back to cm he will be more involved our big problem is width and also getting men in the box it makes the crosses coming in look average if you have torres only in the box trying to out jump 3 or 4 defenders we dont stand a chance this is why i was impressed with aquilani he actually got in the box unlike lucas and mascherano . on babel i think he shot himself in the foot regarding rafa when he had that outburs the other month its bad for the team and bad for babel as i think that lads quality certainly better than the likes of aurelio on the left a confident ryan babel would be unstopable !! on either wing or as a second striker but sadly i think he as played his last game unless rafa goes first a lot of plus points in yesterdays game after we shook the nerves also look at chelsea and utd chelsea have won 1 game in 7 utd have lost 5 times whos to say utd wont get beat again today we hit a bit of form lads and its far from over i aint saying were win the league but its tight up there for the top 4

its sod all to do with the player its to do with the 2 clubs and the contract that has been wrote down . all 3 parties would have to agree because its a years loan. yues he can ask and so can liverpool. so double end of !!!
as for my man of that award mate . its mine not yours and i gave it to him because he bossed the game in 10 min and comtrolled the attact . no one else did that in the other 70 min.
you talk about creativity and i talk about basic football of just passing to your man. sorry i disagree but thats football. fact is we should of won 6 nil on paper.
we didnt.

Anon 12.11 fu#k rafa more like! Why should we just accept a player being sold just because the manager is an arrogant prik who can’t admit he has played babel in the wrong position for 2 years so would rather let him go for 1/4 of his value and lose the club money.

Chosen one there are 90 minutes in a football match 70+10=80. All 3 parties don’t have to agree we own the player at the end of the day. San jose is on a year long loan at bilbao and we threatened to cancel that if he didn’t get more game time now he has and has scored 2 in 4 not bad for a CB exactly the sort of goal threat we have been missing without big sami at corners and definitely along with kelly and ayala better options than kyrgiakos. We can recall nemeth anytime we like and could have done before its just mr benitez like you it seems doesn’t like admitting when they are wrong.

well spotted on whose was in the box when the ball is being crossed. i totaslly agree there mate, from what i saw of the game lucas was getting in the box to and nearly had a free header that was just cleared after gerrard scored if you remember.
in my opinion each pl;ayer did about 3 good things in the whole game. johnson nearly scored with his shot. it was an average peformance and if not for the ten men we could easily of lost

Chosen one-sorry, passions fly when i get on to the youngsters especially nemeth just can’t believe after all he has done, his scoring record that he got packed off in the first place. I do go a bit over the top about them but in nemeth and pacheco we have 2 that can be as good as fowler, very similar in style and generally we have youngsters here that can do the same for us as the beckham generation did for united if rafa didn’t keep loaning them out and if we had more positions available for creativity than 3 in a team and a smaller 28/30 man squad. They should have quality ahead of them not quantity. The nemeth deal was a double blow to me our best young striker leaving and a 30 year old journeyman coming in taking away san jose, kelly and ayala’s chances at CB when they already had 3 quality CB’s to get past. Sorry rant over… Lol

Nemeth joins AEK Athens on loan
Saturday, 22nd August 2009
Liverpool youngster Krisztián Németh has joined Greek club AEK Athens on a year-long loan deal.
AEK Athens chairman Nikos Thanopoulos was in Liverpool today and met Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez.
Greek international Sotirios Kyrgiakos made the move to Anfield from AEK yesterday and Nemeth will join the Greek side as a part of an agreement.
Thanopoulos wanted to sign Reds winger Nabil El Zhar however, Benitez wasn’t keen on letting go of the Moroccan after insisting he was part of his plans this season.
Nemeth is in search of first-team football, something which Benitez isn’t ready to offer yet, and decided a move to AEK was ideal for him.
The loan deal will see the Hungarian at AEK for a year with an option to extend the loan deal for another 6 months.

we all learn something new each day. i9 know where your coming from . i think both of them will be featuring next year for us, anyway hope they will. was just trying to re educate myself about loan agreements but nothing specific comes out. i know they can agree a fee and pay some of the wage but ill take your word for on the other bits. btw nemeth has an option of another 6 months in grease .

Rob i am with donovan in that darby and kelly much better than degen as back ups to johnson. Do think johnson will come good its very similar to ashley cole when he was young and his defence just got better and better over time. Do blame the system again though for expecting him to provide the width constantly not just when it is safe to get forward also think his confidence took a bit of a battering at arsenal…just needs some good man-management now…oh dear lol rob-the fact it has taken the injury and suspension for rafa to go even a fraction more attacking is totally wrong as we all saw aquilani is far from made of glass and he could have been a regular starter by now. Its what i was arguing at the start of the season he wouldn’t leave out lucas to play mascherano, gerrard, benayoun and recently wouldn’t leave out lucas for mascherano, aquilani, gerrard but as soon as mascherano is injured he will play lucas, gerrard, benayoun or lucas, aquilani, gerrard. Lucas and kuyt are just his favourites and therefore undroppable (don’t know if that is a real word lol) he has had more balanced, attacking and stronger line-ups available all season. Think lucas will struggle in the holding role against decent teams suppose we are gonna find out in the next 2 weeks.

well the GOOD news is that Rafa is on the site .
he almost played the team i/we thought of ……..(babel exception)
ANOTHER news(not bad thoughh) is that he’s after Victor Moses from
crystal palace .victor plays mostly as a left winger and striker.
BAD news RAFA HINTS transfer activity in jan including some selling
(BABEL included)…
i read at a site lfc to sell babel ,dossena and voronin to buy cole………
i like cole but babel going is a shock/…….
BPL_WILL_BE_PAINTED_RED. - December 27th, 2009 at 1:50 pm
anyways i thought we won the game more on luck and individual performances
rather than teamwork and thats BAD ….
villa may crush us like arsenal and portsmoth did. untill we do start playing as
a team….for everydays not sunday….
aquilliani, benayoun ,torres ,agger ,jhonson ,aurellio are the impact players in
the team and we need more of them.
i like aurellio for his accuracy.
aquilliani will show his class as time comes.he is to become the back bone
of liverpools attacking unit….
while for jhonson i think rafa may curb his attacking instincts which isn’t good
for him..and the team.

Chosen one-from the players last statement he wants to stay there permanently he feels totally mistreated by rafa and obviously feels unwanted. Rafa needs to build bridges with him. This is a player that he and ablett both compared to dalglish! Scores goals for fun whatever level he has played and grabs assists that ronaldo would be proud of he is just pure class. Rafa even signed the other hungarians simon and gulacsi to help him settle! Thing is he and pacheco’s best position is 2nd striker. If we played 4-4-2 have no doubt they would have had more chances but because they play off a front man and don’t suit the lone striker role they will not get the opportunities they would anywhere else. Was arguing this with people earlier in the season who tried saying they obviously weren’t good enough thats why they hadn’t been played and the throw back i found that worked was what would have happened to a young Robbie fowler or wayne rooney under rafa? Neither would be any good as a lone striker so would have been off on loan too. The strikers we are being linked with aren’t partners for torres they are back-ups torres couldn’t play with van nistlerooy or pavlyuchenko. Cole maybe he would have to adapt his game though and jones definitely but they all can play as lone strikers though. Just think in benayoun, nemeth and pacheco we have 3 massive reasons to go 4-4-2/4-4-1-1 and with aquilani, torres and gerrards injury records we need all 3 fit for Rafa’s system to work that will be a rare sight.
BPL_WILL_BE_PAINTED_RED. - December 27th, 2009 at 1:57 pm
as far as transfer’s concerned
we need Winger sorry….Wingers and 2 of them……..
right winger is a must and when i say must i mean must ……..
now for left ya we have only one there and that means aurellio or dossena
would have to play at right wing but dossena is going and aurellio well he wont
always deliver and if he too gets injured i am afraid rafa may play insua there…
the summary
a RIGHT WINGER ===== A NEED for survival
A DECENT left winger ====a need for victory
any guesses who we may get in?
BPL_WILL_BE_PAINTED_RED. - December 27th, 2009 at 2:01 pm
had we lost the match i would have written
we need winger sorry WENGER

BPL_WILL_BE_PAINTED_RED. - December 27th, 2009 at 2:07 pm
retry ’s right we have enough strikers when nemeth comes back
torres ,nemeth , pacheo,ngog
4 frontline strikers+ kuyt considering we buy a RW.
that takes it 2 5..
happy for pacheo .rafa’s showing sense in giving him chances for
we can’t always buy good player we have to make one too
BIG hops with him

ROB FROM KENT - December 27th, 2009 at 2:21 pm
kelly looked very good in the game where he got injured darby i was less impressed with i thought he really struggled for pace got the wrong side of his man a few times didnt look at the races but he impresses at reserve level ive followed him through the acadamy where he stard i think kelly will make it he looked totally unfazed when he came in but naturally he is a center half even seen him play holding cm where he was good funny he reminds me a bit of when stevie g broke into the team at right back all those years ago plays the game at a good tempo but i think we should keep hold of degen for the minute kyriagos should be sold plessis voronin i think dossena will go lads not been given a fair crack we need some width in our side in jan
anonymous - December 27th, 2009 at 2:43 pm
I don’t know who I agree with but Johnson was woeful, wolves were ok and looked very organise
as for gerrard he ain’t fit and neither is torres
fabio was poor but like the the of pasceo when he come on.I would sell kuyt and babel, vorinon etc and bring in someone like kevin davies or mcgreedy as for nemeth bring him back
Liverpool FC Danny - December 27th, 2009 at 3:51 pm
We should get:
1. Left-Arda Turan-12 million-perfect with both feet, can play on either wing or as CAM-has said he dreams of playing for Liverpool after Galatasery.
2. Striker-Roque Santa Cruz-6 million-great finisher, CL experience, good back-up for Torres or can play with him, won’t be in Mancini’s plans.
3. Right-Van Der Vaart-9 million/loan-plays CAM, LM, RM, good with both feet, sys he wants to leave Madrid in Jan and favours PL as he will be out of team when KaKa returns from injury.
Sell
Dossena-5 million
Voronin-2 mllion
Plessis-1 million
El Zhar-1 million
Riera-12 million
Phillip Degan-3 million
Péter Gulácsi-1.5 million
Retryboy - December 27th, 2009 at 3:58 pm
Would sell kuyt(6m), dossena(6m), degen(1.5m), itandje(1m), kyrgiakos(1.5m), voronin(3.5m), plessis(1m), el zhar(1.5m) to fund hleb(8m), Arda turan(10m) and Koman(4m) and recall nemeth. Options would then be Gk-reina, cavalieri, martin, gulacsi
RB-johnson, darby, kelly LB-aurelio, insua CB-carragher, agger, skrtel, kelly, ayala CM-mascherano, gerrard, aquilani, lucas, spearing LM-turan, riera, Koman RM-hleb, babel CF-torres, ngog, babel SS-benayoun, nemeth, pacheco. 1st team Gk-reina RB-johnson LB-insua CB-carragher CB-agger CM-mascherano CM-gerrard LM-turan CF-torres CF-benayoun RM-hleb awesome team back up team Gk-cavalieri RB-darby LB-aurelio CB-skrtel CB-kelly CM-lucas CM-aquilani LM-riera CF-ngog CF-nemeth RM-babel would put that back up team against most that rafa puts out and you would actually have competition for places
Liverpool FC Danny - December 27th, 2009 at 4:01 pm
The team would be
—————–Reina
————–Usual Back —-
————–Mascherano——-
-Van Der Vaart—Aquilani—Turan-
————————–Gerrard————-
—————–Torres——————–
Subs-Cavalieri, Benny, Skrtel, Aurelio, Kuyt, Santa Cruz
Youth subs-Spearing, Ayala, Pacheco, Ngog, Kelly, Darby, Amoo
Liverpool FC Danny - December 27th, 2009 at 4:03 pm
We could get Hleb on loan and I would rather sell Kuyt than riera actually.

Fc danny the trouble is it is difficult for Liverpool to get rid of players on to of a good contract even tho they are not playing football.I don’t think you are going to get any money from them it would just be good to get the wages off the books and sign some kids

spearing will never make a Liverpool player he shouldn’t even be on the subs bench he wouldn’t get in any prem side.babel is going apart from that I agree with most of your post however I’m not as optimistic as you with the values.

Danny-thats what i put, except would want hleb permanent. Anon the prices we have put are accordingly low because they aren’t desirable think it would be easy to get takers at those prices. Even accepting lower the fact is with mine kuyt is a high earner his wages would cover turans, degen on 38k a week would cover Koman’s and voronin/kyrgiakos between them easily cover hleb’s. Still got dossena, el zhar, itandje, plessis wages would be about 100k a week saved £5m over a year. Apparently rafa is wanting 5m for voronin 12m for babel and 8m for dossena that is unrealistic don’t think our valuations are at all.

How about Riera+10 million for Juan Mata and get Turan and play Mata on left and Turan on the right. Turan is 22 and Mata is 21 and both have so much potential and Turan is great with both feet and very versitile while Mata is a great crosser, very creative, brilliant on the left and Valencia are willing to sell. Or a cheaper option is McGeady and get Santa Cruz and we are set!
Retryboy - December 27th, 2009 at 4:38 pm
Anon spearing is only 21 as you see from my first team and back up team wouldn’t be on the bench just a squad player and capable one at that.

anonymous – December 27th, 2009 at 4:58 pm we ave actually got money but not as much as chelsea or Man city obviously but apparently i heard that the owners will be giving Rafa 10 mill or so and the money he gets from player sells will also be allowed to spend on other players.
however what Rafa is going to do with the money is a different story…..more than likely he will buy us random players which won’t be useful for us. i hope i’m proved wrong.
anonymous - December 27th, 2009 at 6:07 pm
@ Retryboy
It’s fine if you question Rafa, here and there, he’s human so he’s making mistakes, but you’re doing that all the time. But never mind Rafa, but it’s like most of you on here live in some dreamland, thinking we should get this player and we should get that player, we should fire Rafa and we should get this manager. But why don’t you try to support Liverpool the way he is now? We probably won’t bring any high profile player this January, because of are financial situation , so you should all stop with your “negative” opinion about everything, at least until the end of this season, and support your team.

fair point about spearing my opinion is that at 21you need to be looking a potential future world class player but I see your point. Just want to see us with a world class squad with kids taking/challenging for their places.
Retryboy - December 27th, 2009 at 7:11 pm
Serbian red-the transfer window is upon us so i am giving my opinions on who we need and who we need off the wage bill, haven’t entered into it before now really. If rafa only made mistakes every now and then and not constantly i wouldn’t be pulling them up constantly. If he was being proved right and the fans wrong about his decisions then nobody would be complaining but we can all see the problems in a team sheet straight away and the same things we say before the game are the same things in the results thread after. All my reasons for not thinking rafa is the best man for the job are based purely on what i see on the pitch and what i think is in the best interests of the club i love as are everyone elses. In fact virtually all the people who do think rafa is the best man for the job still have a long list of what they think he needs to change to get things right. Only difference is a lot of us have accepted that he won’t make the changes we can all see need to be made, his stubborness forbids it and if he had been capable of going back on decisions or looking at things from a different viewpoint he would be a great manager. About the positive/negative stuff don’t think there is anyone more positive about the quality of young players and the squad generally and what it is capable of also i support the team no matter what and i even defend rafa to the hilt with other fans as people have seen with Jed and on a story on here about rafa by a united fan i refused to even comment on it. To other liverpool supporters i give my honest opinion if people don’t think the same they can argue the points and some of the time people will make you see things from a different angle and change your opinion but to do that they have to stick to the points, a lot of the time people can’t because there is no way you can defend rafa’s decisions or even explain them most of the time so they clutch at straws with ‘the liverpool way’ or ‘true fans’
anonymous - December 27th, 2009 at 7:32 pm
Ok, Retryboy fair enough. You made some excellent points there, and if I’ve to be honest I must say that I agree with, actually, all of them. It’s just that I think it just isn’t a good time at the moment for sacking a manager. Evan if we were supposed to do it, we should have done it much earlier, but to do it before the end of this season, I think it would be just counterproductive.
SerbianRed
Retryboy - December 27th, 2009 at 7:38 pm
Anon-spearing has been given no opportunity yet he has plenty of promise though. We don’t use the cups properly in bringing these young players through. Bridging the gap from reserves to first team thats where we need to improve they won’t all be superstars but a lot we have can be and some of the others be valuable squad players. Still saving us money to be spent on quality first teamers.
Retryboy - December 27th, 2009 at 8:15 pm
Serbian red-i am pushing for rafa to go a lot less since city snapped up Mancini but i still think other managers could save our season and get us in the top four with this squad if we drop out of the champions league places could be a long way back with other teams spending power. Other reasons i think we need to act now is we will see another potentially top player disappear for a fraction of his value in the transfer window because of Rafa, all i see under him is false dawns. The top managers aren’t available now but Kenny dalglish could unite the team and his man management was always second to none. Would trust him till the end of the season to get the best out of the squad.

birmingham pffft quit dreaming. liverpool played many games last year without both Gerrard and Torres and only just missed out on the title. wolves are shit and we were always going to win
