Arsenal 3-0 Aston Villa Premier League Highlights (Video)
by Mad Dog and Glory on December 27th, 2009 242 words | 4 commentsA fantastic brace from Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas and a last gasp third from Abou Diaby was enough to give the Emirates side a well deserved win over fourth place Aston Villa in a throughly engrossing contest.
It was real end to end stuff for the first half hour or so as Arsenal and Aston Villa both had good chances and Brad Friedel pulled off some good stops. Abou Diaby was having one of this better games and was immense in midfield as the Gunners started to exert some pressure on Martin O’Neill’s side.
The second half continued to see Arsenal put pressure on the Villa goal and the unfit Fabregas was brought on and within minutes had put away a delightful free-kick from 25 yards. Theo Walcott was also given a run out and had some great runs on the right hand side. Aston Villa tried to get themselves back into the match but the north London side held out for a deserved win in this crucial Premier League fixture. The Spanish international then added a second after good approach work from Nasri before being taken off with a slight knock.
Abou Diaby then scored a wonder goal that capped off a fine performance from the Frenchman.

Diaby was great all day and Fabregas was simply exquisite in the 28 minutes he had on the pitch. He completely changed the game and devastated Villa with two very well taken goals. Proving what a world class player he is. Well deserved goal for Diaby in extra time to keep up our fantastic scoring record so far this season. Come on gooners!

Arsenal, without 5 first team players and with injured players having to come off the bench to win games are incredible!!!
Imagine what it could be like once Bendtner, Rosicky, Clichy, Gibbs and maybe RVP return in full form!!! Not to mention the likes of Wilshire,Vela,Merida, Ramsey et..al. waiting impatiently in the wings!
Walcott, Eduardo, and Denilson, once they are in full form, can add an extra power to wherever they play. Barring serious injuries, Arsenal have a firm chance of winning something big this year. If they bring in a defensive midfielder and an international level striker, they could really start to pull ahead.
Barcelona and LaPorta must be shitting themselves watching their favourite son banging in goals and running games like the champion ARSENAL player he really is. Wouldn’t it be great to see Arsenal versus Barca in the champions League Final where Fabregas scores 2 to win it for the Gunners!!!!

WHEW… What a Game….. T best game of t year….
Player Ratings for Arsenal:
1 Almunia: 8.5
Looks like u giv almunia t captains arm band n he’ll turn into a decent keeper… Was superb today from my point of view… Made crucial saves… T boy sure has fire in his belly for success….
2 Diaby: 8
Diaby had yet another superb outing… Looks like t absence of fabregas has created yet another good CM for us… Super 3rd goal to rub salt onto villan’s wounds…Though he aint of t same league as Fabregas he definitely wil get ther if he continues playin this way….
3 Sagna: 6.5
Was pedestrain in t 1st half… but made up wit a good show in t 2nd albeit he was’nt bothered much on t right flank in t 2nd half wit walcott’s intorduction dint hav to push forward much… overall decent… but thers always room for improvement…
4 Fabregas: 12 / 10
What a performance… Changed t complexion fo t game once he stepped in… showed wat arsenal was missin in t Hull game n 60 mins of this game… Super tracer bullet of a free kick to score followed by a sexy finish… 20 mins cameo which ensured we won… He’s a Legend… n my MAN OF THE MATCH…Only worry is t hamstring… hope he recovers soon…
5 Vermaelen: 8
Was nearly perfect today… did his job well… showed a lot of commitment as usual… he sure has transformed arsenal defensively into a cohesive unit…
8 Nasri: 7
Not an OK performance from Nasri’s standards… 1st half n 2nd was effective… Most importantly dint do nythin as stupid as t Hull game… Showed purpose in pushing forward… Gotta improve his free kick deliveries cuz they r nowhere near wat Fabregas delivers… Still Now its early days for him… Hope he’ll improve further…
9 Eduardo: 6
Missed a sitter yet again… Was as Pedestrain as Arshavin in t 1st half… Delivered a brilliant free kick which almost led to a goal in t 2nd… Has to start scorin n findin his feat quickly…
10 Gallas: 7.5
Not as effective as vermaelen but did show Agbonlahor n Ashley young who’s t boss… Good performance….
14 Walcott: 7.5
For once i was impressed wit walcott’s performance… Was a constant menace on t flanks… set fabregas superbly up for his n arsenal’s 2nd… did a few crucial tackles too… Hope he can also start scorin goals now in future games…
15 Denilson: 6.5
Dint hav much of a say…was bossing t midfield wit song for most part of t 1st half… Satisfactory performance…
16: Ramsey: 5
Came on late for fabregas.. dint get to show much… but still i hav faith in his potential…
17: Song: 8
Decent performance in t 1st half… superb bossing of midfield in t 2nd… Was exceptional… Only issue is who’ll take his place once he leaves for t african nations cup…
23 Arshavin: 5
Had yet another forgettable match… was nowhere near t arshavin who scored 4 times @ anfield last season… Dint get a single proper touch in t 1st half… was effective only after fabregas came on… Looked bored n subdued in t 1st half… Hope he gets back to goal scorin ways quickly…
30 Traore: 9
Dint let us miss clichy or gibbs in this game.. superb defending… was a class act… maybe t injury has just transformed him into a world class left back… was upto r challange posed by Agbonlahor n young… tackled bravely n superbly… was fearless… also produced a brilliant cross to walcott which led to fabregas’s 2nd goal… easily the performance of t season for traore tonight…
Referee: 7.5
Was pretty fare… dint hav many situations to handle but more importantly doled out yellow cards for diving… 1 to Ashley young n 1 to song… Smart refereeing…
Overall Verdict:
Rocking performance by t Gunners tonight…Villans were solid in t 1st half but they were blown off thei feet in t 2nd… Strong performance… by every arsenal player… T team has given a superb gift to Wenger with this scintillating display of football… Only worry is about fabregas’s injury… if he’s allright tat wud be a huge bonus…
GO GUNNERS!!!
