La Liga giants pursue much improved Blues defender.
Serbia coach Radomir Antic believes Branislav Ivanovic would be an ideal signing for Real Madrid.
The Chelsea defender has been targeted by Real as a January signing to cover for the loss of their Portugal international Pepe, who is expected to be out injured for the rest of the season.
Chelsea are ready to hand Ivanovic a new contract to head off Real’s interest, but the Spanish giants are set to press ahead with a move for the Serbia international, 25, and are thought to be weighing up a £10million bid.
Antic has coached several top Spanish sides, including Real, and reckons Ivanovic would be worth every penny.
“He is very physical and is always composed,” said Antic. “He has the ability to play for Real Madrid.” (Sky Sports)
Whilst there is no doubting Branislav Ivanovic’s marked improvement this term I think the idea that Real Madrid may be lining up a move for the Serbian International may well be a very intelligent ploy to try to get a better a contract from his Chelsea employers.
The 25 year old didn’t exactly inspire confidence with his displays last term the former Lokomotiv Moscow man has managed to adapt to the pace of the English game this season and is well worthy of his place in the Stamford Bridge line up.
Carlo Ancelotti will more than likely look to keep Branislav happy at the west London club so I can see the adaptable defender earning himself a new Chelsea contract long before any potential interest arises from elsewhere.
