Manchester United edged into the lead against a resilient Hull City side at the KC Stadium. After a hard fought first half where either side could have and should have scored, with Manchester United keeper Thomas Kuszczak pulling off the best save of the match, Wayne Rooney cleverly ghosted in to ram home a Darren Fletcher cross.
Rafael then brought down Jozy Altidore to give Hull City a penalty that Craig Fagan duly dispatched. Manchester United were then grateful for some more great play from Wayne Rooney, making up for the mistake that led to Hull’s penalty, who forced an own goal from Andy Dawson.
Rooney then turned provider to exquisitely find Dimitar Berbatov with a deft pass that the Bulgarian gleefully put away.
