Rafa plans interesting and affordable transfer foray.
So apparently it goes like this, so say many weekend reports, Rafa will finally accept just about any sum of money for very much surplus to requirements players, Dossena, Babel and Voronin and then he will use the cash made from these sales to go all in for two interesting January signings.
The players in question? West Ham’s rejuvenated forward Carlton Cole and Crystal Palace’s teenage sensation Victor Moses. Now in theory this sounds like a decent bit of business but may not exactly change the set up too drastically.
Anfield has long awaited the departure of Andrei “You waited so long for me and I am actually just average” Voronin, on his way to Panathinaikos apparently. Ryan Babel is reportedly interesting Bayern Munich and if that is indeed the case then surely Liverpool need to make sure they get a hefty sum for the Dutchman although anything around of over £10m will probably do the trick. As for Andrea Dossena, well his on/off/on/off move to Napoli seems to have stalled once again as the Italian side look to get the full back on the cheap.
At first sight a move for Carlton Cole doesn’t seem a spectacular one but he could be what the doctor ordered. There is no doubting that the former Chelsea man had stagnated in recent seasons but is in a rich vein of form over the past 18 months and now could be the right time to put in a bid given West Ham’s financial woes and he could work well alongside Fernando Torres.
As for Victor Moses, well the 19 year old would clearly be one for the future and that can never be a bad thing. An exciting attacking prospect the England Under 19 international is great out on the flank and has a promising future.
Whilst these captures wouldn’t be astounding they could just about be afforded and may well be realistic targets who are on the whole potentially good additions to the Liverpool set-up.
