Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic has played down any talk of a rift with manager Sir Alex Ferguson, but the Daily Mirror suggests that the club is already preparing itself for the Serb’s exit.
There was confusion over Vidic’s absence from Sunday’s FA Cup defeat to Leeds, with Ferguson at a loss to explain it, saying “I couldn’t tell you. I couldn’t tell you at all.” Speculation was rife of discontent between the defender and the club.
However, Vidic has now made clear that he simply suffered an injury and that there is no disagreement between himself and Manchester United .
He said, “Everybody in the club knows that I have a marvellous understanding with my coach Ferguson
“Ferguson said that he didn’t talk with the club doctor but he didn’t say that he doesn’t believe in my injuries and that we are in a fight,” Vidic said. “I am not unhappy at Old Trafford. I am just injured.
“I hope that I will be able to play as soon as possible.”
However, the Daily Mirror speculated that Vidic is set to leave Manchester United in the summer due to a combination of factors, including his wife’s unhappiness in Manchester. They suggest a list of possible replacements being lined up by the Old Trafford club, should they receive a £25million bid for Vidic which United would accept.
“Fergie’s scouts have been looking at Palermo’s 20-year-old centre-back Simon Kjaer, Juventus’s Georgio Chiellini, 25, and Bolton’s Gary Cahill , 24.” (IMscouting)
Nemanja Vidic is a world class centre back. We all know that and I am sure that reports of a bust up at Old Trafford are highly inaccurate but for argument sake lets look at the trio of centre backs reportedly lined up to step into the gap that the Serbian would leave.
Of the three only Italian international Chiellini could be classed as a top notch defender. Simon Kjaer is very much the unpolished article and the idea that Bolton think they can get £15m for the former Aston Villa man is laughable.
Yes our defence is in a little bit of a mess at present. However the injury crisis we have suffered would have knocked the stuffing out of any side and an in form and fit Vidic and Rio Ferdinand pairing would still surely be ranked as one of the best centre back partnerships in Europe.
Manchester United will not stand by and idly watch Real Madrid attempt to nab another player from under their noses, we have learned just how that Spanish giants operate and will surely never do business with the La Liga outfit unless we absolutely had no choice but to do so.
I am hopeful that all of this is merely media cods wallop and quotes attributed to Nemanja appear to suggest that all is well between the talented defender and our gaffer so at least that means we don’t even have to think twice about bringing in any of these over inflated overrated replacements.

Vidic is not “WORLD CLASS”. He is good in the air and strong in the tackle but he’s useless with the ball at his feet (if I see him attempt a long diagonal ball again, I swear !!!!) and he not particulary quick. I like the guy but I by no means see him as irreplaceable and if you watch a lot of football there are plenty of defenders who could fill that void quickly (even Stephen Taylor would do a job in a similar style). It’s the partnership that him and Rio had that was what kept us solid at the back and losing that complementary partnership has cost us. If we get a decent price for him and he really wants to go, I’d get rid. Time is perfect for a tweek to bring in some youth again and there’s bags of talent sat in our team currently – Fergie just needs a fit squad and a bit of a reshuffle and we’ll be flying. Get rid of anyone who doesn’t want to stay – it has a detrimental effect on the team when they hang around whinging

Vidic is a very good player who, in my humble opinion, has peaked in value. Ferguson will be right to offload him to the highest bidder before he starts to lose any of that showroom shine. As noted above, the lad is not very quick, you’ve only got to see the footage of him trying to defend Torres to gain that. Not that many can stop Torres, but to be proclaimed WORLD CLASS, I would think he could stop him on some ocassion.? Besides, we all know what happens when these boys hearts are not in it and his woudn’t appear to be in Manchester.

wow im a liverpool fan and even i would admit vidic is world class, i have no real bias towards individual players and try to judge each player on their merits, however to call chiellini average is a joke. in my eyes he is up there among the best, kjaer is an up and coming center back and is attracting the interest of many top clubs, cahill is however an average defender but to be honest you dont need to spend 20 million on buying another world class defender if you already have 2 other top defenders as one is going to have to play backup. if you ask me vidic is world class but i would happily take kjaer and chiellini over him because kjaer has such potential and chiellini is still young as far as center backs go. however the main weakness in the united squad that i see is the right back position, john oshea and gary neville are both average (and if you look at it without bias you will agree). i think the best thing united could do is get someone like maicon, dani alves or sergio ramos. then they would have a top defence, they need to back ferdinand more because no player becomes crap over a few months. even though i dont like him as a liverpool supporter, as a person i feel almost sorry for him getting next to no backing from supporters and people at the club.

lol, neither vidic nor torres was 100%.what we need by about 3 years time is a relatively young, but experienced, partnership at the back, and at this time rafael will be in his prime (maybe fabio, but he seems to have developed slower).if we have 4 top class defenders by then we may be able to have another ‘golden generation’.obertan should become top class (after all he is only 20),and valencia will be in his prime.

Vidic wants out, he’s getting near 30, let Real have him if they want. Preferably Barca would come in with a bid, I’d much rather see him go there, seeing as how they are not el diablo. Chiellini and Kjaer would be a nice replacement, (why not sell Rio’s bum ass while you’re at it), while developing Rodwell behind them. Short term it sucks but long term it’ll be worth it. Never seen Cahill play, how good is he?
Fuck Man City, go buy a goat.

Its only a matter of time before Real goes after Rooney too. Can we sell Berbatov while were at it and bring in Villa and/or Dzeko? Please???? Maybe David Silva, Mesuit Ozil, and Steven Defour too? After all the past few shitty transfer seasons which have produced close to nothing, lets see some return here. Giggsy and Scholes are on there way out and Anderson is not the future. Plan ahead of get stuck behind. Spend that Ronaldo money.

You must be seriously dim if you are calling Simon Kjaer, Gary Cahill and ESPECIALLY Giorgio Chiellini average centre backs. Firstly, Chiellini is undoubtedly one of the best CB’s out there. Vidic is getting on now, and if there are any truth in these rumours, Chiellini being only 25, Kjaer being only 20 and Cahill- 24, it is evident Ferguson is looking to the future, (underlined by his captures of Obertan and Diouf). Im a Forest fan, but its obvious that soon, Vidic will become surplus to needs at Man Utd. Personally, I think it would be fantastic if Ferguson signed this trio and nobody in their right mind would call them AVERAGE.

vidic was an unknown befor he joined us & the same would be of kjaer or cahill although more is known about them as theyre in seria a & the prem! wed make them in to top qulaity players like we did vidic!
if vidic does go then we should get 30m as hes the best or 2nd best defender in the world as he was in the world team of the year! i would sign rodwell & kjaer with the money & wed have 2 players to grow in to top stars & wont have had to spend much as we only spent 7m on vidic!
rafael kjaer evans evra
brown rio rodwell fabio
oshea
just as good a backline imo & much younger which is important.

I’d love Kjaer at United, he’s going to have an incredible career. He’s been watched by the big clubs since he was 17, and now he’s finally starting to turn potential into performances.
