White Hart Lane target would very much like a move down south.
Manchester City defender Micah Richards has revealed he would prefer a move to Tottenham if he was sold, according to London’s Evening Standard.
Since being named the club’s Young Player of the Year for the 2005-06 season Richards has lost his way and has struggled to hold down a regular first team spot.
The defender has fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of Pablo Zabaleta and must impress new City boss Roberto Mancini if he is to remain at the cub.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is keen to bring in a new defender and strengthen his back line with the fitness of Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate in constant doubt.
However, Redknapp may have to sell the likes of Alan Hutton, David Bentley and Roman Pavlyuchenko if he is to fund a deal for England defender. (Give Me Football – Official PFA Website)
First off I should point out that I am a big fan of Micah Richards, but surely we wouldn’t have to sell all three of these internationals to fund a bid, would we? Manchester City aren’t exactly strapped for cash so wouldn’t hold the England International up for ransom.
White Hart Lane exits are on the cards for Hutton, Bentley and Pavlyuchenko and the Russian has recently been very outspoken of his desire to leave and his general unhappiness at life at Tottenham warming the bench and thats all well and good but Harry still wants to get a decent return on the forward and we are not talking about a donkey here, we are talking about a player who everyone thought was the bees knees during Euro 2008.
Regardless of our much publicized injury concerns with Ledley and Woody I think a move for Micah makes good sense. He is young and very talented but clearly still very raw but with the potential to be a very good player and one who can play well both at full back, and perhaps more importantly, at the centre of defence.
