Arsenal 2-2 Everton Premier League Highlights (Video)
by Mad Dog and Glory on January 9th, 2010 2 commentsIn the only 3pm Premier League fixture that survived the cold snap Emirates played host to a topsy turvy encounter between Arsenal and Everton. David Moyes Toffee side took the lead through a Leon Osman header from a Landon Donovan corner.
The Gunners equalizer through Arsenal midfielder Denilson, who’s shot deflected into the back of the Everton net. Steven Pienaar scored to give Everton the lead against a very average Arsenal side who seemed to badly miss skipper Cesc Fabregas but Tomas Rosicky scored a last gasp goal for the Emirates outfit.

Arsenal escaped by the skin of their teeth again and for every Gooner, this is a very positive sign. Last year these last minute ties wouldn’t have happened, it would have been a loss, but this year, despite missing 9 first team players, and in particular their top striker for the remainder of the season,Arsenal are still in the race. Last year at this time, they were out of it, despite an unbeaten streak of 24 games. This year everyone of the top 4 are losing points like yesterday and the only team that seems on pace from their last year’s form is Chelski.
Wenger obviously saw that he will need another top class striker during this transfer window and also needs another top class defender. Almunia is doing quite well, all things considered but we need a really top class international in goals if we are to keep pace with Chelski and the 2 Manchesters, not to mention the Spuds , who for the first time in a few seasons are looking equally good.
This assumes that we will not have anymore serious injuries or drops in form between now and the end of May and also that ManU and Chelski will drop more points. These are both terribly risky assumptions but Wenger’s positive attitude and respect for other teams will not let him focus on the negative. He will continue to shuffle his players and with the imminent return of Cesc, Bendtner, Walcott, Clichy, and Song (Africa cup), it is looking fairly positive.
I see the really “dark horses” in the entire competition as being Liverpool and Man City. Both could have a sudden impact on everyone else’s points and if both find better form (City already have) then it could become a really frantic race to the end…..great stuff all around!
