Spurs to chase Parker, if Bentley or Pavlyuchenko are sold – Transfer Talk
Tottenham will swoop for West Ham midfielder Scott Parker the moment either Roman Pavlyuchenko or David Bentley leave White Hart Lane.Spurs boss Harry Redknapp believes the former Charlton, Chelsea and Newcastle warhorse is the ideal player to add bite and flair to his midfield as his squad chases a top four finish in the Premier League.
The other option is for Jermaine Jenas to head to Inter Milan as part of a deal which would reunite Sulley Muntari with his former Portsmouth manager.
But signing Parker is Redknapp’s preferred choice as he does not want to lose Jenas and disrupt the balance of his squad by making too many changes. (The Metro)
According to most sources it appears Harry is very keen on re-shuffling the White Hart Lane midfield. He clearly wants to receive decent bids for David Bentley and Roman Pavlyuchenko so that he can use the cash to reinvest in the Tottenham squad. Redknapp has come out in numerous interviews stating that whilst he would like to keep Russian international Pavlyuchenko he realises the former Spartak Moscow man is getting increasingly desperate to leave the club.
I am sure Spurs would love to pull off a deal that would see Jermaine Jenas swap with Sulley Muntari at Inter Milan but that seems a tall order but of the midfielders currently on situ at the north London club Jenas is the most dispensable given the excellent partnership formed between Huddlestone and Palacios so if a player could be brought in to help beef up the options in Redknapp’s pack then Harry would very much like to do so without splashing too much cash.
Scott Parker is a player that the Tottenham boss clearly admires and the Upton Park side needs cash and will have to sell a player to two in January to keep them clear of further financial strain. Some may not see Parker as an improvement on who is already in the Spurs armoury but I think on his day the former England man can be a great player. Always determined in the tackle and able to work as well offensively as he does defensively the 29 year old would surely jump at the chance of such a move.

I’d love to see Muntari at the club, he would work fantastically alongside Palacios.

Has anybody actually watched Muntari since he’s been at Inter, no thanks.

If you brought something new to this sort of speculation it could be worth discussion.
But you don’t.

Why on earth would we want Parker? Injury prone, puts in a decent performance every so often, scores few. Yeah OK, he can tackle, but then apart from his sub-par performances this season, so can Palacios. Huddlestone’s been a bit of a revelation this season, so i see no reason to break up him and Wilson’s central partnership. Muntari was a bit of a monster whilst in England, but i haven’t seen enough of him at Inter, but by all accounts, again, not the sort of player we need.

NO NO & A firm Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Parker that is!)
He is NOT gonna improve our team, in fact it could well be the opposite………. Charlton went down with him in the side, went to Chelski (Fair play) but was not good enough & could not hold down a place & when he woz shipped out he opted for the Bar-Codes instead of US and look what happened to them? Currently at Wet Spam Utd & the rest is history……………
I say leave him there to rot & play Championship football next season
Nuff Said

muntari cant get regular football at Inter, he has good games and many not so good ons at Pompey. Prone to bookings/sendings off. Doesnt score that many goals. Goes missing some games, that said all of the above (save teh sendings off) could be said about Niko Kranjar and he’s been tip top sice he reunion with HR

Scott Parker is an excellent all round midfielder, he can make a biting tackle and play an excellent pass too as well as being a natural leader, evident by being the captain of charlton as a teenager. The only reason he wasn’t a success at chelsea was because of the overrated 30 shots on goal a game Lampard playing the same position. I have wanted spurs to sign him for years and he was a boyhood spurs fan too. Get him in, trust me, he’s the missing part of our jigsaw.

NO to Parker as someone else said he had the chance to play for us and he went else where, he’s injury prone and a gold digger we don’t need to pay high wages for a crock in the treatment room

No to Parker. Go for Reo Cocker from Villa. Good in MF defending and going foreward. The sort of player that Harry made good before and he could do it again. COYS

Yes I have seen Muntari at Inter quite a few times, he is one quality player 100% . Him and Palacios would be awesome in the center.
anonymous - January 14th, 2010 at 7:54 pm
Just Sandro in for me
Bents Pav and JJ can be sold.. Don’t play.
Hudds and Palacios are a good partnership which will only get better with time.
Other than that I think the squad is perfect for this season. No need to unsettle a team playing good football by signing a player that will want 1st team football as soon as he arrives.

jenas been letting us down for years
anonymous - January 15th, 2010 at 10:06 am
Parker isn’t even as good as Bentley so why would Harry want him. He’s done nothing since leaving Charlton.
anonymous - January 15th, 2010 at 3:51 pm
Total rubbish its talk like this that has got us panic buying we cannot have top players in a world cup year sitting on the bench .We bought Bentley a proven premiership player and this alone should tell you not to rush into the transfer market’ .Jenas is good enough to be a squad player we have already got problems with Moderic Kranjcar Keane and Pavlyuchenko we have sixteen or more players on loan and Dosantos Woodgate Rose King Bentley Walker Naughton in the first team Squad that would be eleven players in reserves with two on loan that leaves nine only seven can sit on the bench with a Keeper. We should buy older players with championship experience like City have and Arsenal like gutti andn Van Nystrol boy or use our Kids Bostock Parrett Rose and Santos if he arrives .DAVSPURS
