Roberto Mancini’s side were fortunate to win a debatable penalty that Carlos Tevez smashed in to equalize for the Eastlands outfit against his former side after Ryan Giggs had given Sir Alex a perfect start after some good work on the right from Luis Antonio Valencia.
Manchester United have an away goal to take back to Old Trafford and will still be confident of making it through to the Carling Cup final.

Congratulations from a Liverpool fan. You got over that huge hump, called Man Utd. Must feel really sweet. I reckon and hope we will have a long war with your team to qualify for the Champions League.
My shade of joy tonight, came from a reaction of Man Utd fans, who left our pub, very quietly, “with a tail between their legs”, as they always do, when their team lose. They are in your face after a win and “slink out of town” after their losses, which grow in numbers.
Incidentally, their genius coach, doesn’t look that great, after loosing his best player and diver, and having his purchases of new players cut down by the indebted ownership.
Even the geniuses make mistakes buying wrong players. How does 32M spent on misfiring Berbatov, compares with LFC recent disappointment, i.e. like Dossena, Voronin. Also, why didn’t Ferguson buy Tevez for 25M, and prefered the company of Berbatov for 32M. What’s even more shocking is he had Tevez on his team for a long time, could have recognized his heart and value. What about another flops Nani and Anderson. I understand fully, that with Man Utd cash flow, Ferguson mistakes were easier to remedy. Not any longer though.

i bet fergie’s mumbling bout the penalty decision, as usual. SORE LOSER!
anonymous - January 20th, 2010 at 4:45 am
haha…no problem..it’s just 2-1…
anonymous - January 20th, 2010 at 5:56 am
to anonymous @ 4:45.. yes 2-1 is not a problem but after your beloved club and accursed owner sell rooney to madrid/barcelona and after giggs retire then manchester will become purely blue.. red will become a distant memory and our future mancunian tots will remember you for what you really are, pink!
anonymous - January 20th, 2010 at 5:57 am
manchester city is the only mancunian club..

Loved tevez celebrations he may as well have just walked up to the alchy bent him over and spanked him lol still well shit seeing Bellamy play so well consistently when you see the strikers we get linked to. He played 3 positions for the team and worked his ass off in all of them shows how crap Rafa’s man management skills are!

Conterversial penalty, great game for Tevez, clever celebration, without going near the fans, Tevez did brilliant at United, Ferguson didn’t want him

yes I believe Neville likes to be spanked.

Im a Liverpool fan but have to say im disappointed by Tevez’ celebrations, he may be pissed with Ferguson but he didnt play for Ferguson, he played for the fans and should of showed more respect.
Same goes for the Liverpool players who have apparently lost faith in the manager and arent playing well as a result, they need to realise they play for us not Benitez!
anonymous - January 20th, 2010 at 6:06 pm
Ha Ha Ha, just one things utd owners are not terrorist!

Tevez penalty was outside the box as everyone with eyes could see. United played well as a well outclassed city thanked their lucky stars they had given in net. Even though im a United fan of 40yrs ill be more than happy to see the newly rich blues take over the 4th spot as liverpool decline further and further till their only hope of getting into europe is on their holidays.

Have to say, that the ref was totally blind, when he gave city that penalty. And no, i am not just saying it because i’m a United fan, unlike you liverpool fans here celebrating it just because it was against united.
It’s still only 2-1, not at all deserved by city, but gotta live with it. If United play as well as they did last night, they’re gonna beat she shit outta city when they come to OT.
If one would look at how they played, it should’ve been about 5-0 to United…but can’t always get one deserves.

Well said city were just that lucky! they played well but they they were not the better side is was quite even at points of the game but the overall stats show that manu played better. Manu 58% possesion, shots on target manu 9 manc 5, shots off target 4 each, corners manu 10 manc 7. The pen was lucky and as already said given saved their arse. Notice how the liverpool fans get cocky about us losing yet they gonna struggle to get in europa let alone championsleague next year unless they get a decent manager.
And i’d like to make the point that so many liverpool fans were on here commenting at the start of the season saying without ronaldo and tevez manu wont make top four the prems gonna be theirs this year and as i said then they wont win anything while benitez is in charge hes not good enough i could never understand why he was loved so much

Hope Neville gets fined for that disgusting display, Tevez was making a point that United should of kept him at least he didn’t incite a riot ( I’m sorry but after the West Ham game I thought it was stupd regardless of what was said). Neville defended the fans who invaded the Barnsley food kiosk and Ferguson calling Wiley or whoever it was unfit, Neville is a arse licker
anonymous - January 21st, 2010 at 2:06 pm
Tevez deserves Neville ’s reply. Full and Final

let outsiders keep talking and Tevez keep scoring

To barnard,
Westeveld, Warnock, Smicer, Traore, Arphexad, Baros, Cheyrou, Biscan, Diomede, Josemi, Kewell, Kromkamp, Le Tallec, Nunez, Pongolle, Riise, Voronin, Xavier, Ziege,Pellegrino, Cisse, Diouf….
Go a little deeper. Just to name a few players to the list. No wonder you´re not able to take the title. Only 11 points behind at the moment. Nothing new from the western front.
dr.Barnard - January 22nd, 2010 at 4:44 pm
A few setbacks and those proud Man U. fans post anonymously. I guess my congrats to Man City grated you Mr. Anonymous. You put a long list of players, many of whom, were brought to LFC before Raffa arrival. Even if add the Net Cost of them (purchase cost- selling price) it would not add up to 32M. For every Kewell, there is Veron. For every Voronin there is Nani. For every Pellegrino there is Anderson. For every Nunez there is Hargreaves. Enough said.
I’m not interested in trading tribal barbs with Man U. fans, like yourself, who feel threatened in their feeling of supremacy. One of my original point is that no manager, however acclaimed and loved, has a 100% success rate in bringing new players to his club. Agree?
And don’t be so afraid of new competition on your doorstep. As some business thinker said ” Competition makes us all better in the long run”.
Last but not least, think of a nick name for the next time you want to post here. If you don’t have one, maybe “Tevez” would be a good one. Or a longer one: “Frustrated and Fearful”
anonymous - January 22nd, 2010 at 5:28 pm
dr.Barnard
Anderson is a world class attacker not a fkn defensive midfielder he had always played as offensive mid, winger and even striker (yes hes acuracy is sh*t i know)
the problem is that ferguson bought a attacker and want him to be a defensive/center mid how can anderson worth 30 that way?
he should have stayed in porto another season and then maybe ferguson could buy an attacker for 40M+ or any other top club would

its sad that most of you don’t know anything about football. Man utd deserved to win the game and it was just an unlucky case of fate biting them in the arse. I mean, i don’t know how you fucken city fans can’t say that bellamy didn’t dive, he’s a bluddy idiot of a person and thinks he’s hell tough with his tatto sleeve. I use to highly admire tevez, but he is truely a dckhead for stirring neville up and he deserved that kind of reaction. He made a huge mistake in signing for city. And city fans are only lying to themselves if they think they’re going to come out victorious in the second leg; glory glory man utd . . .
anonymous - January 28th, 2010 at 11:30 am
haha unlucky city
united are in the final wooooooo still have not got over the so called hump
you tried everything in the game diving all over the place but united won with football in the end
