Tottenham 2-2 Leeds United FA Cup 4th Round Highlights (Video)
by Mr Comfort on January 23rd, 2010 7 commentsTottenham almost succeeded where Manchester United failed but failed to dump Leeds United out of the cup after a thrilling FA Cup tie at White Hart Lane.
This highly charged encounter stated badly for League One leaders Leeds United as Tottenham were given an early penalty, however Jermain Defoe’s poor effort was saved by the excellent Casper Ankergren.
Peter Crouch put Spurs ahead after some fine approach work but Jermaine Beckford fully deserved to put Leeds United level before a great move saw sub Roman Pavlyuchenko put the north London side ahead. In a very temperamental affair Leeds United did win the caution count 6 to 1 and once again showed that they are a club moving in the right direction after some very lean years when they were awarded a contentious last gasp penalty that the impressive Beckford fired home.

I’m absolutely astounded that Jenas stayed on the pitch until the final whistle. We had options wide with Rose who did well when he had the ball. Why-o-why do we resort to hoofing the ball from the back upto Crouch and Defoe?
Our midfield was found wanting throughout the match as Leeds went forward. Jenas offered nothing and nearly gifted Beckford a cheap goal went a poor judgment call as he played the ball back to Gomes. Then he didn’t clear the ball when the corner came in and instead of sticking his foot in he waits for others. I know it is easy to blame one player but our midfield had nothing until Palacios came on and ran all over the place. Having Modric and Jenas in the middle is a luxury we cannot afford and that was proved by a team two-tiers lower. Jenas should’ve come off for Palacios instead of Rose.
Spurs only have themselves to blame for the draw. They could’ve easily put this game away and yet they lacked any type of urgency, any guile. Dawson was poor today too but that mainly came down to the fact that he had no support from the midfield. Notice how it all changed once Palacios came on.
It is also beyond me that Redknapp won’t play Pavlyuchenko when he looked sharp and made great runs and tracked back well.
We can complain about missed called or the penalty that never was but we had one and Defoe nonchalantly took it. What the hell was that? Defoe has a rocket of a foot yet comes up with that?
Now we have another match to play against a team that has nothing to lose and at a ground that is uninviting. Well done Spurs, way to play down to your opponent, yet again.

Well done leeds again a great game to watch from a neutral point of view. After the double sub by Redknapp looked like spurs were going to be too strong. Great fight back hope the return leg is as good and televised

This chance to let steam of on these blog sites is great but if you heard some of your excuse you would think we played Barcelona for fuck sake and yes I am mad because we are playing the same Energy week in and week out . Don’t tell me Jenas is not good enough to play at home against Leeds because if you are we are sunk.Three Penalty’s one given 6 bookings for Leeds 25 fouls 13 shots on target and the only things we lost is the chance to win and overhaul possession.Man of the Match (Energey)

If you had put your money on a horse and it was favourite and you done this every week and lost sooner or later you would start to suspect something is wrong., and that is what has Happened to racing and athletics and now its spread to Football and we are destroying good players every week with games that we are expected to win on paper .Well Jedwood cant sing but they have bean on the awards looking like pop stars and this is the only way i can explain what’s going on in Football are Leeds better than Spurs no are Hull no are Stoke no you get my drift .Well on the field they are just has good and that’s what you have to believe Reading beat Liverpool Liverpool with a team not has good has the one beaten by Reading so does that mean Reading are a top four team no .So instead of blaming Defoe Keane and co look at the other teams results before they suddenly like the Jedwoods turned into class teams the Answer is in Paddy Kennys failed drug sample and the twins miming not real.

Looks to me like Harry Redknapp has got to rock the boat a bit after all.
