Blackburn have completed the signing of Turkey midfielder Yildiray Basturk from German club Stuttgart – initially on a deal until the end of the season.
The 31-year-old has almost 14 years of Bundasliga experience, along with 49 international caps for Turkey.
Germany-born Basturk was part of the Bayer Leverkusen team that lost the Champions League final 2-1 to Spanish giants Real Madrid in 2002.
In the same year, he helped Turkey to third place at the World Cup.
Basturk earned his reputation as a creative midfielder following three seasons with Leverkusen before moving to Hertha Berlin in 2004.

He then joined German champions Stuttgart in July 2007, making 30 appearances. (BBC Sport)

This could well turn out to be an exceptional signing by Sam Allardyce. With 9th and 19th places in the Premier League currently separated by just eight points the addition of such a vastly experienced player can only help in the battle to push Blackburn Rovers up towards the top half of the table and away from the drop zone.

Yildiray Basturk is an attacking midfielder with great vision and can hold the ball well before picking out intelligent passes the type of player that the Ewood Park side could well do with. The Bundesliga man also has a good eye for goal and if he settles in well, and preferably quickly, he could well become a cult figure in the same vein as fellow Turkish international Tugay.
