Tottenham’s Giovani dos Santos set for loan move to Galatasaray

Galatasaray look set to offer Giovani Dos Santos a route out of Tottenham following a frustrating two seasons for the Mexico youngster. The Turkish club is understood to be putting together a loan deal for the 20-year-old, who has struggled to make an impact since his move from Barcelona.
Spurs paid £4.7m up front for Giovani in June 2008 but he could not break into the starting 11 after Harry Redknapp took over from Juande Ramos as manager and he was loaned to Ipswich for the final part of last season.
During the current campaign he has made three appearances and his progress has been hindered by an ankle injury suffered in the Carling Cup win over Preston.
Galatasaray have been busy in the January market in England, having also signed Lucas Neill from Everton and taken Brazilian striker Jô on loan from Manchester City. The Turkish side also signed the Brazil playmaker Elano from City in the summer. (Guardian)
Giovani Dos Santos is a player whose time at White Hart Lane has stuttered badly and it seems this latest chapter in the former Barcelona man’s career could well lead to a permanent move away from White Hart Lane. There is no doubt that the Mexican International has immense talent but he was unable to persuade Harry Redknapp that he was ready to make it in the Premier League and it seems Giovani is more than happy to make a move to Turkey in the hope of forging a run in the Galatasaray line up and perhaps either prove himself overseas to maybe state his case to the Spurs boss.
Any permanent move to Istanbul will probably hinge on what kind of fee the north London club is willing to take for the 20 year old and I would imagine the White Hart Lane outfit would take any offer that was more or less what was paid for Giovani just over 18 months ago. Reports have just emerged stating that this move is a done deal.
