Crystal Palace have been deducted 10 points by the Football League after going into administration on Tuesday.
The move means Palace drop from ninth in the Championship to 21st – only three points off the relegation zone. (BBC Sport)
This is not good news at all for Crystal Palace and they look set to possibly become the latest former Premier League side to suffer from a financial crisis following being relegated from the top tier of English football. A swift look at the League One table shows a plethora of former Premier League regulars, such as Leeds United, Charlton Athletic, Norwich City and Southampton and serves as a testament how easy it is to financially cripple a side looking to maintain their place amongst the top table and then going on to suffer if they do not immediately find themselves back in the big time.
The south London side will not find it hard to keep some of their prized assets, such as Victor Moses, as they look to pay off some of their many debts. Neil Warnock must now switch attentions from a potential late run for a play-off spot to a relegation battle that they dare not lose for fear of slipping down another division.
