We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Portsmouth for the transfer of Younes Kaboul to the Club.
The French centre-back will experience his second spell at the Club having left White Hart Lane in August, 2008 for Portsmouth, where he made 50 appearances, scoring five goals.
The 24-year-old played 29 games and scored four goals during his previous time at the Club, having originally joined us from Auxerre in July, 2007. (Official Tottenham Site)
So Younes Kaboul follows in the well worn footsteps of the likes of Jermain Defoe, Peter Crouch and Niko Kranjcar by following Harry Redknapp from Portsmouth to White Hart Lane. The French defender has undoubted improved as a player since his move to Fratton Park and it appears that a chunk of the rumoured £11m fee will be footed by the debt the south coast side stills owes Tottenham from the original purchase in August 2008.
Harry has been looking to solidify his somewhat injury prone back four and a move for the 24 year old former Auxerre man seems to make good financial sense and may well serve to further ease Portsmouth’s ever present money worries.
Highly rated keeper Asmir Begovic is supposedly set to follow Kaboul to the north London side but a deal is yet to be reached as a number of other clubs including Stoke City and Arsenal circle the Portsmouth goalie.
