Tottenham 2-1 Everton Premier League Highlights (Video)

by Mad Dog and Glory on February 28th, 2010 3 comments

Tottenham easily triumphed over Everton at White Hart Lane and leap frogged Manchester City into the top four in the process. In form forward Roman Pavlyuchenko put the home side ahead with his sixth goal in four games as the Toffees failed to get into gear.

Luka Modric added an excellent second to put the north London side in complete control and left David Moyes wondering what happened to the side that so wonderfully took Chelsea and Manchester United apart in recent weeks.

The second half was a more even affair and Yakubu put the Goodison Park side back in the game but the away side were unable to grab a crucial second.

Rangers 1-0 Celtic Scottish Premier League Highlights (Video)

by Mr Comfort on February 28th, 2010 4 comments

A last gasp goal from Maurice Edu all but sews up the SPL title for Rangers. In a typically tight Old Firm derby it was the card count that once again overtook the goal tally and Artur Boruc was in fine form keeping the Ibrox side at bay but things became increasingly difficult for the Bhoys once Scott Brown was sent off and a late goal from Edu hands Rangers an unassailable lead at the top of the table.

Watford 1-2 Newcastle United Championship Highlights (Video)

by Mad Dog and Glory on February 28th, 2010 6 comments

Newcastle United moved six points clear at the top of the Championship after the St James’ Park side comfortably eased past Watford at Vicarage Road.

Argentine centre back Fabricio Coloccini put the Toon Army ahead early on and Andy Carroll scored early in the second half to kill the game off as a contest. The young striker is beginning to become a feared goalscorer and confidence is growing in the 21 year old who has now netted seven times in the last eight games.

Watford pulled a goal back late on through Will Hoskins but the mid-table side couldn’t muster any points from this encounter. Newcastle United boss Chris Hughton will be pleased with the way his side is playing of late but will hope that they do not get complacent as the season draws towards the final sprint.

Aaron Ramsey Suffers Horrific Injury After Ryan Shawcross Tackle (Video)

by Mr Rant on February 28th, 2010 74 comments

One can only hope that Welsh international Aaron Ramsey recovers from this horrific injury and whether Ryan Shawcross felt sick with himself after the fact is really neither here nor there and doesn’t in anyway excuse the disgusting tackle the Stoke City man committed.

The Emirates outfit have suffered a succession of extremely unpleasant injuries in recent years with those that injured Abou Diaby and Eduardo being in the forefront of my mind at present. Arsene Wenger does appear to have a point when he continually refers to the way his team is occasionally singled out for attention as it appears that some teams have no other way to deal with the way the Gunners play other than to meat out punishment to attempt scare the north London side.

Ryan Shawcross has subsequently been named in the England squad ahead of the upcoming friendly against Egypt which is just a case of poor timing. Anyone who claims that the former Man United youngster is “not that sort of player” may be indeed correct, after all this was the 22 year old’s first red card, but he will have to take a long hard look at himself in the mirror after this incident and may find himself on the end of a long ban from the game.

Craig Bellamy Attacks John Terry In Post Match Interview (Video)

by Mad Dog and Glory on February 28th, 2010 12 comments

Love him or hate him, and most likely it will be the second emotion you associate with the Man City winger, you can’t fault Craig Bellamy for speaking his mind. The Welshman clearly has his views on the Chelsea skipper and felt that with a camera pointed in his direction and with a leading question addressed before him, that he had no choice but to stick a knife in John Terry and then move it around an already gaping wound.

The thing is, it does make you think whether JT is really generally someone who fellow footballers simply do not like, or whether this is just a figment of Mr. Bellamy’s imagination. I have a sneaky suspicion that the in form attacker is probably not the only person among the footballing fraternity who are not exactly enamoured by the Stamford Bridge centre back, but should that really matter?

Clearly, as Bellamy states in this post match interview, the fact is that on the field of play John Terry is a leader and a damn fine defender and whether he is a complete tosser off the pitch is really neither here not there. After all I am sure we have all had colleagues at our workplace who we have downright loathed but could at the same time acknowledge their ability nonetheless to do their job effectively.
